JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2005 Just watching the TNA repeat and the Monty Brown interview with Mike Tenay, I was wondering... Would Monty Brown get over in WWE? Or is he just a big fish in a small pond that would be in way over his head in WWE? What do you think? It's entirely plausible that if TNA shuts down sometime in the near future that guys like Styles, Monty, etc would be up for grabs by WWE if they wanted him...would Monty make a big splash? razazteca 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2005 Monty would POUNCE~! onto the WWE is spectacular fashion that would surpass all previous attempts of pushing dead weight talents like Chris Masters, Tomko, Snitsky.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2005 I doubt it. While I'll admit he's way better than he used to be, he just wouldn't stand out in the WWE. He looks better in TNA cause 2/3 of their roster are jr heavyweights
Guest Shadow Report post Posted April 3, 2005 vince already expiremented with big ex-football player black muscle head with no real talent by giving him a monster push. I'll let you remember who it was.
Guest Fook_Theta Report post Posted April 3, 2005 Are you holding yourself like Peewee Herman over the answer to this question? Ofcourse he would get over pretty huge. Not sure how huge though. More of a "Goldberg" than a Rock or even Hogan. He's got spunk, has improved quite a bit the last few months, has "it" to some degree, and seems flexible enough to keep improving. Hated him, now I'm starting to be neutral on him. He's learning some good habits in TNA.
Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2005 I think he could, no doubt. His charisma makes him stand out, his promo's aren't cookie cutter and at times have been completely random...everything about the guy looks like a good fit for WWE. It did state in a recent Observer that Brown and Styles have been vocal about leaving if they don't get decent offers upon renewal, so Brown in WWE in 2005 isn't as far fetched as you'd think. UZI Suicide 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2005 I highly doubt it. His whole gimmick is just WAY too cheesy. It's something that would have gotten over in the 80s, not now.

Vyce 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2005 There's enough there, talent wise, that the WWE should (and likely would) pick him up and give him a shot. I think he'd have a pretty decent chance of getting over, too. How over, I don't know, but I think he could earn himself a nice little following. Enough to probably justify him getting a paycheck every week (which is more than can be said for most WWE workers these days).
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2005 Did Mark Henry even play football? I just remember him as a weightlifter and as the World's strongest man. BTW, I think they gave up on Henry way too early. He was fairly over with the fans and he had some serious potential. I think it was more of a case of the bookers not enjoying his stuff than it was the fans not being into it.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2005 Ron was fine he did his job well enough...there was this other guy who fit that description and was a total flop. Ummm yah I guess being the most over face in the promotion is a flop. Make no mistake, had Ahmed stayed healthy he'd have been world champ.
Guest Shadow Report post Posted April 3, 2005 Yeah he was over but consistant injuries and never getting to where they wanted him? thats a flop.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2005 Yeah he was over but consistant injuries and never getting to where they wanted him? thats a flop. It's hard to get anywhere if they push you for two months and then they take you off TV. If they would have just put a little effort into Henry, he could have been a really over heel or face, but instead they just let a couple people get over on him, and then took him off TV. Dark Age 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2005 They aren't talking about Henry.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted April 3, 2005 Monty looks big in TNA. In WWE, he'd look average. He's a monster when standing next to AJ Styles and Jeff Jarrett. Not when standing next to Triple H or JBL. The Pounce wouldn't cut it in WWE. Hell, I don't think it cuts it in TNA. Of course, people try to defend the F-U as well, so what do I know? Could he get over? Possibly. If WWE/Triple H let it happen.

They pushed him hard in his last run but he was injured and now they are just letting the contract burn out. and i love how 3 different people applied to the description but no Henry was never sold as a former football player. Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2005 Monty Brown's intensity would get him over huge in the WWE. Similar to a Batista and a Goldberg. I would put Monty Brown on Smackdown, have him be JBL's henchman or somthing. Or have him fued with the Undertaker.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2005 The Pounce wouldn't cut it in WWE. Hell, I don't think it cuts it in TNA. Of course, people try to defend the F-U as well, so what do I know? This is the company where the Worm and the People's Elbow got over. The Pounce would have no trouble getting over since Monty beats the life out of his opponent before hitting it. He has shown a willingness to lose, he has charisma, he does have decent size since he is a former linebacker, he has shown a willingness to learn so I don't see a reason Monty couldn't get over. But I know he wouldn't cause the writers would have no clue what to do with him and they'd probably give him the voodoo gimmick.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted April 3, 2005 If they would leave him alone and let him do his thing he would get over huge. His interviews are much different than anything on WWF tv and I think his finisher would get pretty over as well. If he has the smark crowds in TNA chanting for it during his matches I think he could easily get a mark audience too.

He looks better in TNA cause 2/3 of their roster are jr heavyweights I can see him falling into the Tazz/Rhyno trap, Vince seems to have a problem with "undersized" brawlers not named Foley. If they gave him a good push I see no reason for him not to get over, he's got a lot of intensity and personality, but more likely he'd be used as a JTTS
