Guest El Satanico Report post Posted April 4, 2005 I'm suprised Beauty Shop opened that well.... :slaps him: When will you people stop being amazed, and just realize that any movie about "black life" is going to open well. These movies have an audience, and they always will.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2005 Good lord The Ring Two didn't do as hot. The Pacifier is beating it. Dude...it a family picture staring Vin Diesal. Mothers are taking there kids for fun family time, while they get all hot and bothered staring at Vin for a hour and a half. Appeal to two of the biggest audiences...women and children...can't lose. These movies have an audience, and they always will. I still dread the day that hollywood figured it out. Every once and a while, they seem to understand that they have a built in audience there and that they can throw any crap together and make some money. For every Beautyshop, there is a piece of crap thrown out there.

Guest El Satanico Report post Posted April 4, 2005 How High was a decent drug movie...it's no Cheech and Chong or Half Baked...well actually, other than a few things it was pretty crappy.

Didn't you know that most people don't consider the target audience, before commenting on their amazements. 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2005 Can someone explain to me how "Beauty Shop" is a movie about "black life" when it has Kevin Bacon, Mena Suvari, Andie MacDowell and Alicia Silverstone in some of the major roles? Seems more like it was about hair styling than "black life" Hell, three of the five leads are white. Now "Barbershop", that was a great movie. How was "Barbershop 2" anyway? I never saw it since there didn't seem to have any need for a sequel.

But hey, I liked it. Kenan stole all his scenes too.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2005 Pootie Tang was awesome, no matter what you think. And you call me retarded for liking Signs? Daddy Tang was the only redeeming quality about Pootie Tang. Daddy Tang and Daddy Tang alone.

And he was pretty funny in MAN OF THE HOUSE for the few scenes he was in. I just wasn't sure about Barbershop 2 as I didn't hear as much about it like I did Barbershop. As much as they played him up in the previews, Cedric couldn't have been a more bit part in MAN OF THE HOUSE.
