Two matches announced for Raw tonight

Recommended Posts

Shit... If only the Metrolink ran later or I could have stayed another night in LA, I could've bought RedJed's extra ticket and seen Raw as well.

At least I got to go to WrestleMania.

She's not yet a wrestler.

Christy should have never been put in the position of having her second match -- at least, I think it was her second match -- at such a high profile show like WrestleMania. That was an unfair spot for her, especially since she's just breaking into the business. But she definitely seems like she wants to learn and, unlike most of the divas they have on Smackdown right now, Christy seems like she has a real enthusiasm for the business.

Wrestlers only get better as they get more experienced. Give Christy a little time, and I think she'll become a pretty decent woman's wrestler.

Again, I feel bad for her. She should have never been put in that position last night. According to WrestlingObserver, Christy even apologized to Vince McMahon for her poor performance against Trish. He told her not to worry about it, but it's clear she feels guilty over what happened. It seems like she actually does care about the quality of her work.....which is more than you can say for more than a few people in WWE.

Why should Christy feel guilty? She can always just make it up to Vince with a blowjob anyway. But yeah, I think Christy has SOME potential. Some of the moves she busted out last night (that sunset flip where she put both her legs on the top rope & rolled over, the twist of fate)impressed me. I agree that with a little bit more training Christy would make a decent womens wrestler.

Problem is; she should have been getting training when they SIGNED her. not the last month.

Surely they knew @ some point they would use christy in a match

Christy should go down to OVW for awhile if she wants to improve, which seems to be the case since she felt guilty. I guess she needs to be on TV with the Playbody magazine still on stands, but once it's off stands, put her off TV. She could really improve at OVW since it seems the quality of female wrestling down there is quite a bit better than in WWE.

It would seem that Michelle McCool, whom is a athletic girl should be training too.

It makes me want to vomit every time people make the snide "women employed with WWE are only there because they offer sexual favors" bullshit comments.

Christy's a fluffer. She shouldn't be involved in any matches that don't involve her rolling around in her underwear against other fluffers. The idea that the fans should have to take *any* fluffer seriously against an actual wrestler is bullshit.

Did they not have her memorize the match and run through it multiple times on house shows? That's basically what they did with Steph/Trish back on No Way Out 2001 and it was a good match.

Michelle could be decent. She's probably had very little training so far, but looked pretty good in the matches I've seen her in. Her offense already has Chyna beat.

You missed the point of this match. It was all about Trish disrespecting Christy for being in Playboy, and Christy wanting to get revenge for that disrespect. The Women's Title was secondary. It was only put on the line because Trish was holding it. We weren't supposed to take Christy as a serious competitor. This is why they designated Lita as her trainer. To at least give her some kind of credibility before the Mania match. But no, we were never supposed to think she was worthy enough to hold the Women's Title. We were just supposed to see if she would get her revenge on Trish.

And I certainly hope you're not labeling her a career "fluffer". Because that would be silly, considering she only has a few months in pro wrestling under her belt. If we were talking about Stacy Keibler, I could understand. She has focused her entire career around being nothing more than eye candy and has basically proven that she has no desire to be taken seriously as a wrestler. However, Christy is an entirely different matter. She's only been in the business less than a year. There's no reason for her to be labeled a fluffer already.

In the wrestling business, people get better as they gain more experience in the ring. Considering Christy had been used only as T & A since the diva search ended, only becoming an actual competitor within the past month, she has had no chance to gain this experience. Even in the recent weeks on Raw, they didn't even bother to try and put her in a one-on-one match. How does one gain experience if they're not even given the opportunity to wrestle?

She is a rookie. Like most rookies, she is not going to be good in the ring within her first few months in the business. And like most first-year rookies, you should not be expected to wrestle in a title match at such a major Pay-Per-View like WrestleMania. It puts an unnecessary amount of pressure on you, considering you don't even really know what you're doing yet. Yet, that's exactly what Vince did. And I'm sure he realizes now how much of a mistake it was.

Did they not have her memorize the match and run through it multiple times on house shows? That's basically what they did with Steph/Trish back on No Way Out 2001 and it was a good match.

Christy cannot be compared to either Stephanie or Trish. Trish already had a decent amount of experience in the ring at that point. And considering Stephanie has spent her entire life in the business, she obviously knows much more about it than Christy does. They both do. Now, with Christy, even if she did have her match memorized.....people get nervous! It happens! One of her first real matches ever is on the biggest Pay-Per-Views of the year -- and it's realistic to expect that she would be beyond nervous in the ring. Anxious to the point where she starts botching some normal spots. If she had a year of actual wrestling before this match, this situation might not have happened. But WWE was careless here, and this is what happened as a result. Christy isn't stupid for botching -- it just makes her a normal rookie.

....

During the Diva Search, Christy was the only one that showed any excitement to get the fans on her side. This is why, by the end, she was the only one receiving a massively positive reaction. Whether it's in a segment like defending Eugene and kissing him, or confronting Trish for spraypainting her, Christy always tries to show emotion in her stuff. She consistently shows a real interest in what she does on the shows, which is more than you could say for the other ones from the Diva Search that are on WWE shows right now. Christy's a fine diva, and I think she's only going to get better from here.

Sending her to OVW for a while might be a good idea though.

Yea...and I'm sure 4 (or 5?) years ago, it was

Because when Trish debuted with T&A, the last thing I wanted to do was see her in an actual wrestling match. Look at her now.

Funny.

Wait, no it wasn't.

Exactly. Trish was looked at as one of these fluffers in her first year with WWE. As was Molly -- under both Molly Holly AND Mighty Molly. It took them a while to break out of that shell, but they did it. Christy could very well do the same thing.

To place her under this restriction so early in her career as a "fluffer" is beyond ridiculous.

To be fair to Molly, she was a wrestling in WCW and was training there as well. But your point remains valid.

I certainly didn't want to see a Christy/Trish match, and that's purely because Christy hasn't trained. If she had, it'd probably be different. Now she could very well be a Lita or even a Torrie Wilson, but hey, she could be the next Trish too. But she needs to go down to OVW for that to happen. If she doesn't, she'll just be like Stacy when she was a "wrestler" for a while.

Did Trish go to OVW? Have Christy work with Finlay behind the scenes, and if she's got it her work will improve, and if not then just stop having her work. And I know it's kayfabed, but seriously keep her away from Lita. I have to agree with the people who credit her for her enthusiasm, it's a good sign.

They've invested too much time and money into her to send her to OVW at this point, I doubt it will ever be considered as a serious option.

When they did the diva search, they went out of their way to point out that the whole contest was for a job as a non-wrestler, and that it was different from the Tough Enough girls that were supposed to be able to work in the ring. Given that, there's really no reason at all for her to go down to OVW just to learn how to wrestle.

Just let her end this mini-feud with Trish without ever touching the title, and then use her as a valet or something for somebody that's a little too bland to make it on their own.

Ditto with Trish.

However, there's Victoria the ho, and Victoria the wrestler. She got substantial training, put on muscle, and came to the ring to kick ass.

Molly had muscle on her, was already an athlete, and was learning to wrestle.

Trish, at the time, was already a fitness model, and took to wrestling very well.

McCool--athlete already, is progressing nicely despite her little training, and doesn't completely embarass herself wrestling.

Christy's scrawny, isn't a wrestler, has a nice figure for the horny 12 year old marks to fap to, but doesn't have the athletic bodies the women wrestlers have. It's like Harvey Wippleman vs. Hurricane. Yeah, they're about the same height, but look at the difference in their builds. Some one who is a trained wrestler and has a significant advantage on you in muscle tone and mass--you're going to get your ass kicked.

In the past, WWE's made it seem like any TnA Diva could climb in the ring and have a realistic shot at beating the wrestlers. I still shudder as seeing Torrie slamming around Molly and her having to sell her offense (back when the "Men and Women's Champions" were able to be on both shows).

If Christy is going to be a believable wrestler, she's going to need to put some muscle on and train as one. Right now, it's a complete joke. Thankfully, Trish knocking her out so easily makes it seem like she was just playing around with her the whole time last night, although she may have been a bit surprised at times and underestimated her. So, a well-booked follow up, IMO.

Incidentally--Chyna--had the build of some one who could kick ass, but not very athletic. Perhaps part of it was her boots, but she was utter klutz in the ring.
