haws bah gawd 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 *shudder* I remember that all too well (the "All About the Banjamins" gimmick). I think the legitimate athlete gimmick can work for Benjamin, and carry him through his career. However, this is the WWE, and the man just has to learn to work the mic better. He doesn't have to be as good as The Rock, or Stone Cold Steve Austin, but at least be on par with Triple H.
CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 I don't find if poor on the mic, but yeah, he could improve. But that's not hard to do, and if that's the only thing he has to improve on, he's good to go. Benjamin is a good athlete but he still is lacking that connection with the WWE fans, a big feud and an improvement on his personality (which he has none at this time) would make him into a potential main eventer. I COMPLETELY disagree. That's the only reason why Benjamin *is* getting cheered. When he's in the ring, he can connect to the fans very well. Exceptionally well even. He has no personality, definite angle/gimmick (directionless IC Title reign doesn't count) or very good mic skills. If he wasn't able to connect with the fans, there would be no way he'd be getting any reaction right now, which he certainly is.
Guest Shadow Report post Posted April 6, 2005 I think of him as a Modern Bret Hart. Former tag teamer slowing rising up in the I.C ranks and having good-great matches along the way. He can flat out perform and wrestle and mix it up but isn't much of a talker though.
Guest BDC Report post Posted April 6, 2005 How do we KNOW he's not a good talker? They never give him a chance.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 And apparently everyone's forgetting how fun Shelton was imitating Bradshaw back in the build up for WrestleMania XX for the Smackdown Tag Title match.
Si82 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 I'd certainly say that Shelton Benjamin has the most potential since Brock Lesnar. I've really been into Shelton since he was drafted to Raw a year ago. His singles work has constantly impressed me and I feel he should have won the money in the bank match at Wrestlemania 21 and be given a bigger push in general. I really believe that Shelton Benjamin has the potential to be the future of WWE.

Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 I don't think he'll be THE future of the WWE, but I can see him definently main eventing and winning a title or two...though I don't think the crowd reactions are quite where they should be with this guy...maybe it's just me, I dunno, but I'd like to see a little more reaction for him and some of the moves he does...thoughts? Guest BDC Report post Posted April 6, 2005 I think they'd give you the reaction you're looking for it they'd give Shelton some damn TV time. They only give him the minimum and he's still getting strong reactions.

The company doesn't care about the title so why should the fans? The title is so important it wasn't even important enough for it to have it's own match at Wrestlemania. And the last few PPV matches for the IC title were slapped together jobs like against Maven, who has now fallen almost off the face of the Earth. The fact Shelton even gets a reaction is a god damn miracle.
