Hogan Returns For One More Match, Batista Defends World Heavyweight Title Against Triple H at Backlash Pay-Per-View

 

STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 18, 2005--The legendary Hulk Hogan returns to action for one more match at World Wrestling Entertainment®'s RAW® branded Pay-Per-View, Backlash®, on May 1, 2005, in Manchester, N.H.

 

Hogan, arguably the most famous Superstar ever, will appear on Monday Night RAW before a sold out crowd at New York City's Madison Square Garden tonight, April 18, to accept the invitation of "The Heartbreak Kid," Shawn Michaels, to be his tag team partner. This sets up, for the first-time ever, a dream pairing of these two celebrated Superstars as they face WWE Superstars Mohammed Hassan and Daivari at Backlash.

 

Batista, fresh off winning the World Heavyweight Championship from Triple H® at WrestleMania® 21, makes his first Pay-Per-View title defense at Backlash. It will be Triple H versus Batista again as Triple H, the 10-time world champion, will be driven to recapture the title he lost at WrestleMania.

Why the WWE didnt advertise Hogan's appearance on RAW ahead of time other than just hours before the show tonight baffles me.

I guess this counters the potential 5-star classic between HHH/Jim Ross, but it's WWE @ MSG, so I'll watch regardless. Hopefully, it's better than RAW's last visit to MSG (a shitty womens match and 5:00 main event lumberjack match).

Well, I wasn't aware of this press release until now, so Hogan appearing was a surprise for me....YAY!

It was rather pointless other than killing about 10 minutes of tv time. And it was nice of Hogan not to come out until HBK was being hung. I had no mark out moment, I used all the Hogan mark out moments at Wrestlemania when he faced the Rock. Now he's just another old guy I just wish would stay retired.

I think its funny how Hogan has easily beaten the crap out of Hassan & Divari twice now and yet in this match they will have to get some offence in on him.
