WWE worried about the backlash

-- Matt Hardy is working on a DVD project, which will document the careers of his brother Jeff and himself. It will also apparently “clear the air” in detail regarding recent controversy.

-- WWE is now realizing that the firing of Matt Hardy has generated a backlash much larger than they expected. Edge faced massive chants of “You screwed Matt” and “We want Matt” during his match on RAW this week. After this happened, WWE management realized that there was no way they could bring Lita out to the ring without the same thing happening. So instead, they decided to interview her backstage, but the boos were immediate and intense then as soon as her image showed up on the screen, which certainly did not make WWE management happy. The main feeling in WWE right now is that they have created a monster by firing Mat Hardy, and that monster will be very hard to keep quiet.

Well, it's been obvious that they can not keep it quiet - things like that happen, like Mania XX with Goldy and Brock, like the You Sold Out chants at Bret at house shows before SS 97.. things get out and the marks are starting to catch on to them.

They're more intelligent than a lot of people give them credit for, are WWE fans..

They need to seriously acknowledge what happened in some sort of way, and they may be able to get around the crowd going south. We know WWE management is incapible of admitting that they are wrong on anything, even if Vince claims the fans determine how the show goes. So a full scale apology is out of the question. Even if the encoroprate a Lita heel turn in the storylines they will least have a reason for the crowd reaction.

It is good to know that at least the WWE fanbase at least has the moral base, to stand up for a loyal worker, whos only crime was, dating a philandering home-wrecker.

Serves the company right for making such an idiotic move. Let's hope Boston keeps it up on Monday.

Funny, I didn't know Matt Hardy had this many fans. anyhow, the backlash is amusing, but it will get old real soon. Matt Hardy was nevere going to be anything more than a glorrified mid-card JTTS

I'm more interested in Kane vs. Viscera than a lot of stuff on the show this Sunday, sadly. I want to see the crowd reactions to Lita...

But there's no way they can bring her out in front of a live crowd on PPV now, can they? It could be REALLY funny if they do.

I bet they shoot an angle where Viscera and Trish attack Lita backstage or something, so she doesn't have to come out in front of the crowd live. But we'll see.

they oughta just say fuck it and make her a heel, play off the heat...hell pair her with Edge at this point. the WWE has done other immoral things, why not this?

Why not just re-sign Hardy?

      -=Mike

would Matt even accept that pity now?

Umm, yeah.

Money is nice.

They can always have Lita turn heel and have a promo with her revealing she was the one who got Matt fired and that we'll never see him again, it sounds lame but it can' justify the negative chants towards her.

Never say never.

Besides, it would require Vince to admit he's wrong.

No way Matt says no to that.

...Stick Matt on SD. Have him work in the US Title picture...

The WWE should just wait it out. Like it's been said fans will forget soon enough... although Hebner still gets You Screwed Bret chants in Canada, so maybe this will force Lita into a heel turn, or at least a psychotic bitch tweener role.

Yeah that's sad because Christian has gotten a lot of TV time lately so why the hell is Viscera more interesting?

Just hire Matt Hardy back and shock the world

I just watched the Royal Rumble again - Edge got no reaction while he was on offense. These chants are the only reaction Edge gets these days, so until something interesting happens with his character, I think they'll continue.

Sad to say, but Matt's more over as an unemployed worker than he has been in the past 2 years (since he was going up against Taker back in the day).

If he were hired back now, he'd be better off professionally than perhaps ever.

Can't see it happening though.

I think this could really jumpstart Hardy's career. He has always entertained me, and I think the crowd reaction for him coming back would be an immense initial pop. How about resigning him, have him come out and talk about getting some well-deserved revenge (don't have to say the name to get the point across), but then get drafted to Smackdown. This frustrates Matt because he can't get his revenge on the other show, so he takes it out on everyone who deals in evil deeds on Smackdown, kind of like the Crow/Punisher type angle he proposed. All it would take is a couple of severe ass-whippings dealt to some heels, then make him a contender and push him as high as he can go. I'm sure Matt will run with it.

It's a shoot.

Matt, Lita, Edge, Edge's wife, Vince; they're all in on it. It's a nod to the Pillman 'I respect you, booker man' angle from WCW, and the first thing Bret Hart insisted on to appear at next year's Wrestlemania. Look for Paul Birchall to debut soon as a tribute to the British Bulldog.
