2 top 100 Video Game Lists

Recommended Posts

Can I join in on this list? I too have been playing since the days of Intellivision and used to own a C64. I still consider some of those games to be better than the games offered today. Anyone that's played Pirates! or Below the Root will know what I mean. Classics.

Nope, we don't have any room on the panel for people that don't appreciate Earthbound. Sorry. Maybe next time.

Don't hate me for speaking the truth about Earthbound.

I don't remember you saying it was one of the top 30 games ever made. ?

Heh, games that should probably be on my list. No order. I'm just brainstorming

Earthbound

Blaster Master

Mega Man 2

Zelda, Zelda: Link's Awakening, Zelda: A link to the Past

Super Mario 3

Secret of Mana

Chrono Trigger

Metroid Prime, Super Metroid

Lufia 2

Resident Evil, Resident Evil: Code Veronica

Final Fantasy 4, Final Fantasy 6, Final Fantasy X

Castlevania: SOTN

Xenogears

Battletoads

Lemmings

Eternal Darkness

Obviously, I will have the best list.

I joined up a little late, but my main problem is getting the games right and getting them in order. I know my top 5 or so, but everything else is tough to rank. The descriptions aren't that difficult at all. It's also tough to decide whether or not to rank 1 or 2 recent games (as in the last couple years) that I haven't completely finished.

I should've asked before, but compilations are excluded, right? Otherwise, Mario All-Stars, Zelda Collection, and Mega Man Anniversary Collection would be 1-2-3.

Compilations are excluded for the simple fact that they are basically rehashes.

Remakes are included but only if they produce a brand spanking new game. Like Resident Evil on GC isn't the same as the original Resident Evil.

However, if something is just re-released like Shining Force on GBA which is the same game but with the addition of some new characters that don't do anything really do anything to make a different game, then no this type of remake doesn't get included.

If you are unsure of any remake games, please inform me and let me know which games you have on and I'll take it to task.

...aw shit, now I'll have to check those lists like now to make sure these are all correct.

Highland, I thank you for offering but the panel is currently closed for the Top 30. However, should anyone not be able to submit a list, I'll get back to you for your input, ok?

Oh yeah, MikeSC was banned, so you might want to do something about his spot.

Good Lord, what did he do this time?

CT, you know very well that next to nobody gets banned around here for one specific incident.

Some mods will arbitrary decide that somebody was a "problem" poster and ban them.

Like Choken, who wasn't really a good poster but didn't really do much that was outright offensive except post-whore.

(even though we know he's still around, and virtually everyone knows it)

Seems like Mike submitted his list though, so Flik likely will still use it.

There's a thread in Site Feedback about it (it's in the Current Events is a lot like Hitler thread). Here's Kotz with the closest thing to an explanation:

I don't know who actually did it, but we were given approval by the Admins because he's been a detriment to almost every thread in which he took part, and allowed to do what he does for far too long.

Man, that's bullshit. I've hadplenty of disagreements with Mike, and he made a few lame attempts to flame me, but if he was banned just for te hell of it, that sucks.

I'm sure there is someone willing to fill his place for the panel.

Dammit I still haven't finished my descriptions. My description of RE4 is sounding like a resturant review...

Does anyone know of a real good site where they have a list of all the various games so one doesn't accidently overlook something?

Gamerankings.com probably has the most complete list there is on games, considering they read the reviews. Probably to at least the second generation consoles (PSX, DC, N64). The only other one I know would have a huge list is GameFAQs.

Well, I'll ask Highland if he wants in, and since MikeSC isn't here, his list goes bye-bye. However, if Highland can't be in (due to some reason), we'll just be going with 12.

Reason why the list goes bye-bye, is because during the discussion, if we've got any complaints against a game ranking as high as it did, the person who rated the game the highest on their list will be the "sacrifical lamb" so to speak and must defend the reasoning behind the game getting as high as it did on the final Top 30 list.

I'll check those out. Thanks. My rankings are a combination of importance, originality, how it affects other people and of course my favourites.

I now have a rough list of my top 30 games but I don't use AIM so I can't discuss it via that route. That okay?

I spend too much time online as it is. I have to draw the line somewhere. I'd probably use MSN messanger befoe I'd use AIM anyway.

MSN Messenger is good for myself and Renegade as well (we BS to each other all the time with it).

Ok, if we have one guy that doesn't have AIM and the rest do, doesn't make sense for people to change to accommodate the one. If having aim is a problem afterwards, uninstall it then.

Piss makes a good point. Even if two or three people didn't have AIM, it shouldn't be enough to warrant a change in plan. If it's just one person, then it doesn't make sense for Flik to have to come up with something else. Not to mention that registering an AIM account is free and takes all of a minute.

So, has the preliminary discussion thing been postponed or are we still going to have one tomorrow?

Buda, AOHell is evil. You can never get it off your PC without a reformat wipe. Don't you know that? :P

Wouldn't making a web-based chat room be more sensible?

AIM convos don't hold a dozen people anyway, I don't think.

"So, has the preliminary discussion thing been postponed or are we still going to have one tomorrow?"

I'm personally not going to be able to finish my list tonight (a Mother's Day deadline is a little unreasonable, and I had graduation yesterday), but I could hand it in tomorrow afternoon. Then I'm going to see Hitchhiker's Guide.

I guess when everyone's stuff is then then Flik can set up the plans for discussion.

I have AIM, I just absolutely hate it and use it as little as possible.

BTW, chaos--I got Conker; seems pretty fun so far, but no way in hell am I going to be able to get a review-able amount of playtime into it. Thanks for the recommendation, though.

This frame-rate is killing me, though.
