JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2005 There is a lot of heat on Romeo Roselli of the Heartthrobs at the moment. There is a feeling among several that I spoke to that Roselli may be getting a little too much of an big head, which has led to him getting the cold shoulder backstage. Roselli recently attempted to get more money out of an independent promotion, Northeast Wrestling, with less than 24 hours before their show last Saturday in Bristol, CT. According to several, Roselli requested more money after being booked for several months because he was a TV star now. One source told me Roselli did so after being instructed to do it by his parents, which is laughable and sad if that is the case. Roselli also voiced complaints about the chances of getting injured the night before he was scheduled to debut on PPV. Now, while that is a valid concern, a number of wrestlers took that to be insulting to the veterans he was scheduled to work with, Mick Foley and Jerry Lawler. He looked doubly bad since Jonathan Coachman also worked the show sick (see below). Roselli was eventually replaced by King Kong Bundy at the indy date, and the real irony is that the show was run by promoter Mike O’Brien, who gave him his first indy dates when he was breaking in. The running joke I’ve heard is that Roselli was lucky he isn’t on the Smackdown roster where he would have to deal with the likes of JBL and Undertaker. There are a few people who wondered if William Regal and Tajiri may have worked snug with the Heartthrobs on the Sunday Night Heat taping this week to send a message to Roselli, as Antonio ended up with a black eye. As noted above, Jonathan Coachman has been suffering from either a bad eye infection or broken blood vessels in his eye. He was said to be in so much pain last wekeend that he hasn’t been able to drive. Since Coachman worked the NEW indy show and took a bunch of bumps for Mick Foley, Roselli looked even worse to many of the wrestlers as here was a non-wrestler gutting through pain and Roselli didn't work a show he was booked for months to appear on. Gangrel is signed to a WWE deal and has been down in Ohio Valley Wrestling training for his comeback to television. I’ve heard from one source he’s been signed for some time, but had been injured, which is why we haven’t seen him. Steve Richards is also down in OVW training to return from his broken nose suffered at the hands of Chris Masters during Masters’ Raw debut. --PWInsider.com

He wants more money because he has been on television, which should lead to greater exposure, leading to more people showing up for the show. Makes sense to me. Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2005 I imagine we'll be seeing the Viscera/Gangrel tag team again soon then, huh? Maybe they will actually win the tag titles this time, since it's not too hard these days.
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted May 5, 2005 I'm glad WWE finally signed (back) Gangrel, considering they signed Viscera (and pushed him!).
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2005 Gangrel's music? awesome... Gangrel himself? teh suxxorz
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted May 5, 2005 I don't know... if Gangrel can get into shape, I think he can be good (or at least better than half the RAW roster). He's a good bumper though, so I expect him to be used in a JTTS/Heat role.

How many more people do you really think would go to a NEW card just because 'Romeo' was appearing? It's not like we're talking about a real draw, he's basically a curtain-jerker that's been on a few shows. He's hardly a "TV star".
Fro 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2005 Gangrel wrestled on OVW TV this past week and looked pretty awesome. Of course he was in there with Elijah Burke who's one of the better workers down there, but it's nice to see him get another shot.
Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2005 As long as they have the music, flashing lights, and "Burnin' Ring of Far" entrance for Gangrel I'm happy.

starvenger 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2005 Gangrel's music...great Gangrel's running elbow drop...great Gangrel...not great Eh, he's still better than the OVW "hosses" they've brought up. And he'd probably be more over than Rhyno, too. Not that that's saying much...

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2005 I always kinda liked Gangrel and it'll be good to see him back. When Viscera kept making Raw appearances I ranted "Why the hell did they sign him again and yet haven't brought Gangrel back full time?" If they do it I hope they play off the inherent silliness of his gimmick, make him Christian's flunky (or Edge's, either way). One advantage Gangrel will have is that unlike Val Venis for instance he hasn't been around nonstop and thus his gimmick will be fresher (although originally from the same time period). Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2005 correct me if im wrong, but didn't Gangrel make an extremely brief one shot comeback last year as a flunky for the UT or something?
Taker666 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2005 He's no Matt Hardy or Jamie Noble yeah but hes more entertaining them overall. man, I'am excitied about the return of Gangrel. he was actually one of my favorites back in the attitude era. one of the best entrance and theme song EVER!, had a wicked cool look and was a pretty decent wrestler. great move by the WWE. Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted May 5, 2005 correct me if im wrong, but didn't Gangrel make an extremely brief one shot comeback last year as a flunky for the UT or something? JBL brought in Vis and Gangrel to take out Undertaker on the 9/17/04 SD< which lead to a Handicap Match on the 5 Year Anniversary Episode. Undertaker squashed them like bugs in 2 minutes. Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2005 yeah great move, I'm sure he'll get that same huge push Val Venis and Stevie Richards have been getting for years...
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted May 5, 2005 Hoping for a Stevie Richards push is like hoping Santa Claus will give you $100,000,000. Richard has a history of injury problems, which is 1 reason why he'll never see a push again, and he's not "homegrown" talent.

Carnival 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2005 So the heart throbs are working independent dates? Are they under a written contract? I assume they are, i assume they came from OVW too. I didn't know WWE let anyone but announcers work indy dates.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2005 I'd rather they would have kept A-Train, Palumbo, or Stamboli around than bring back Gangrel (not including Knoble, since he was let go for reasons other than "nothing for him to do").

Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted May 5, 2005 And he's injured... what else is new? Wasn't he fired originally because of neck problems that sidelined him for over a year?

He wants more money because he has been on television, which should lead to greater exposure, leading to more people showing up for the show. Makes sense to me. You seriously don't see the problem? The guy was booked for months in advance. Once that happens, even if you become a "TV star" between the time you are booked and the show, you shouldn't ask for more money. Had he been a "TV star" before he was booked, and nothing was decided on, then and only then should he use the excuse that he's now on WWE TV to get more money.
