Damaramu 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2005 Ok it seems anytime I DL any Emulator or ROM it freezes my computer up and i have to reset it. But I don't even know what a good Emulator is or where to find them. I've heard of MAME for the arcade games but I can't figure out how to use that damn thing or where to find ROMs for it(i want wrestlefest and x-men). Anyways I also want a good SNES emulator and a good NES emulator. Can anyone send these too me or direct me to a place? And explain why the completely freeze my computer but they used to work on my old really shitty computer?
ragingfear79 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2005 best place for snes and nes roms for me is romnation.net they have just about every single nes game and almost all of the snes games (cept for the mario and kirby ones) now for emulators: for nes the best one is rocknes, i like it better than nesticle and for snes is snes9x, hope that helped

KingPK 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2005 I second EmuAsylum as well. You have a 120MB download limit a day, but that's nothing if you only want SNES or Genesis ROMs. Oh, and for WrestleFest, you have to get the Raine emulator, I believe.
Renegade 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2005 What happened to the old emulation thread anyway?
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2005 The old emulation thread was unpinned due to inactivity (among the other things of the site not wanting to get into trouble for "such files"), so it got ditched.
Guest Fook Report post Posted May 9, 2005 Oh, and for WrestleFest, you have to get the Raine emulator, I believe. Not true. I use MAME and Wrestlefest works fine.
Special K 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2005 ZSNES is quite a bit better than SNES9x, IMHO. Both work well, though. ZSNES will play games like Star Fox and Yoshi's Island and Star Ocean.
Pegasus Kid 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2005 I suggest getting MAME 32K v0.64 (generally considered the most stable version out there). There are a bunch of different sites with ROM's, just make sure they're compatable with the Emulator you pick up as some of the newer stuff around (Killer Instinct comes to mind right off the bat) won't work on older Emulators. KingPK 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2005 The Underdogs is most definitely the place to go for old PC games.
Ted the Poster 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2005 I'll second Underdogs. Best abandonware site out there.
Special K 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2005 If you can't work MAME too well, WinKAWAKS runs Capcom and Neo Geo Arcade games, is fast and very user friendly.
Hoff 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2005 I have a question. I d/led Number Munchers (shut up) from that site, and when I play it, it just shuts down after like a minute. Anyone know why this might be happening?
Ted the Poster 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2005 Number Munchers was the shit in elementary school, along with Oregon Trail.

TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2005 I want a decent N64 emulator and roms.. where would one look?
Guest Fook Report post Posted May 11, 2005 For an emulator, try Project 64. You can get it here. For roms, try the sites already listed in this thread.
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2005 Thanks for the em.. can't find any roms though. I'll search some of my p2p's.
The Decemberists 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2005 http://romhustler.net/ has plenty of N64 roms. It's where I've got all mine from. However, they've recently changed the compression type from zip files to 7zip, which has confused me far too much so I've given up on expanding my collection. Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2005 I downloaded a boatload of roms for MAME32, which is up to version 0.95. Load and save game states rule. And the underdogs is a confusing site at best. I have been trying to get Phantasie II and Eternal Dagger for the PC for a long time, and cannot find it.
Ted the Poster 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2005 They have Phantasie 1 and 3, but not 2. Do a google search for abandonware sites. You'll find it somewhere, I'm sure. The Underdogs site is great. It's the way the games are sorted that's awful.
The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2005 judging by that picture, as Hoff plays Baby Muncher, the regular Number Muncher starts playing his second favorite game ... Ass Muncher.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2005 I forgot that Phantasie II was released only on the C64 and I think the Apple II... problem solved.
