Let's see, we've already got Survivor, Alias, Joey and The OC all on at the same time. I realize that Smallville has a pretty solid fan following, but I don't think that it'll stay very long in the Thurs 8pm slot. They'll probably move it once one of the other WB dramas fail.

This is looking like a bad year for network TV.

Other than Scrubs and The Office, it appears that the only networks I'll need to watch are ABC and Fox.

Thursday

8:00-9:00 p.m. “Smallville”

And the season after that, it'll be on Friday. Well if Survivor, Joey, The OC, Alias and Smackdown don't slaughter it to death.

As for next season: Hello, FOX. I am your bitch. Please dominate me with hot 24, Arrested Development, Family Guy and American Dad action.

Well, so much for Jack & Bobby.

Glad to see I still don't have to care about the WB on Sundays.

And the Friday night comedy line-up rocks. And yes, I'm not being sarcastic, as there's a soft spot in my heart for WB sitcoms.

Smart of them to pad new shows with proven winners too.

Thursday looks like a damn trainwreck.

Survivor, The OC, Joey, Alias, Smackdown, now Smallville?

Screw NBC and their "Must see TV" Thursday. Move Joey to another night. It's actually a pretty good show that I want to see succeed. Too bad NBC is expecting it to be another "Friends" which it isn't.

It's bad enough I have a hard time trying to fit both The OC and Joey on my plate, now I have to make room for Ms. Garner.

SVU is going to destroy it. CBS will either counteract with Juding Amy (hopefully that show doesn't get renewed) or a new drama.

Joan of Arcadia is coming down to the wire. I hope CBS makes the right choice

Smallville's ratings have been down this season, but I can't see why they put it on Thursdays. The show's demographic is the same as the OC and I think the people who watch both shows will pick the OC.

Atleast I'll get to watch it next year.

The ratings are down because the show has gotten shitty.

I don't watch, but that's according to people that do.

I think the show got better. It moved away from the "monster of the week" crap that plagued season 1 and 3.

But two-year drama Joan of Arcadia and six-year drama Judging Amy have been canceled.

CBS this month ends its third consecutive season in first place among all viewers and has made surprisingly strong gains among young adults, where it is just behind Fox in an extremely close race.

Although Joan had a loyal core audience, ratings plummeted this season as the show's focus shifted. Both Joan and Amy were among CBS' lowest-rated series among the younger viewers so sought after by advertisers.

Unable to score with softer dramas such as Joan and this season's failed Clubhouse, CBS has drafted new shows that are heavy on crime, despite three CSIs, Without a Trace and Cold Case on its returning lineup.

Les Moonves can go fuck himself.

Meh. The only episode of Joan of Arcadia I ever watched was the one with Christy Romano.

You should really check out Scrubs, Bob. It gets higher ratings than AD, and is just as funny.

Bob, you can't blame them.

They were low rated shows, so of course they'll be canceled.

A few thoughts:

Scrubs getting put on hold so that NBC can show "The Biggest Loser" and "My Name is Earl" is a fucking joke. I like Jason Lee and hope his show does well, but c'mon, don't pull one of the most originally funny shows off TV for it.

Smallville's going to get slaughtered. Then it'll be "Quantum Leap"ed all over the schedule until it gets cancelled because "no one was watching it".

Unfortunate about TBJ. I liked it more than CI. Vincent D'Onofrio's character was so damn smart it always seemed like he should've been on Jeopardy making Ken Jennings his bitch or something.

Yeah, Fox is probably thinking that Sundays are going to be their night (if they don't jack around with their schedule too much, of course).

David Boreanaz back on TV? Cool. Now where's James Marsters dammit?

All of this IMO, of course.

All of the CBS returning dramas (including NCIS and Numb3rs) seem to be crime procedurals and now we'll get even more of them. The network really risks tiring out that particular subgenre if its not careful.

The ratings for Joan weren't that bad. It always finished 1st or 2nd in its timeslot, was one of the best shows on TV, and Amber Tamblyn was the best actress on television.

It's a real shame

Joan got replaced by a show that's a direct rip-off of Medium.

They ignored a 7,000 signature petition, and a massive write-in campaign from devoted loyal fans.

The show ended on this big cliffhanger that's never going to be resolved. I already miss it. :-(

The OC (4.3-4.8 range) and Smackdown! (3.5 range?) aren't exactly slaughtering anyone.

I listed The OC because I figure that their core audience probably watches Smallville as well...

This is true, although I think Numb3rs is different enough to separate it from the other procedural dramas CBS has.

I'll be rooting for "How I Met Your Mother" to succeed, if only because of the leads (Neil Patrick Harris and Alysson Hannigan)...

The second season of Joan of Arcadia was painful to watch. Never have I seen a show take such a huge nosedive in quality. I went from really liking it to not being able to watch even 10 minutes of it.

CBS made the right decision.

I missed the first half of season 2 where I heard things got bad and I agree, bringing in Annie Potts and killing Joan's friends and the suing Kevin storyline do sound stupid.

But the episodes I saw starting with The Rise and Fall of Joan Girardi were all really strong episodes that made me love the show and seek out the Season 1 DVD.

3 out of the last 4 episodes (save for the transitional Spring Cleaning) were amazing.

Don't hold your breath. This season, at least:

According to Buffy.nu:

No SPIKE Series For You!! JACK & BOBBY Dead!! SMALLVILLE To Thursdays!!

From Aintitcool.com - 2005-05-18th

BLUE COLLAR Lives!!

WB Fall Schedule !!

New WB entertainment president David Janollari has slated “Smallville” opposite “Survivor,” “Alias,” “Joey” and probably “The OC”!

Janollari believes he will garner more viewers with “Supernatural” and “Twins” than with a “Spike” series!! Programming genius!!

NEW SHOWS:

* "Supernatural." Supernatural thriller, from writer Eric Kripke (The WB’s “Tarzan”), about two brothers who take a cross-country road trip to solve their mother’s 20-year-old murder. It stars Jensen Ackles (“Dark Angel,” “Smallville”) and Jared Padalecki (“Gilmore Girls,” “House of Wax”).

* "Twins." Sitcom, created by the writing team of David Kohan and Max Mutchnick (“Boston Common,” “Will & Grace,” “Good Morning, Miami”), about twin sisters “who could not be less alike.” It stars Melanie Griffith, Mark Linn-Baker, Sara Gilbert and Molly Stanton.
