Hoff 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 Actually...I wasn't really feeling the show, even my own stuff...except the ending. Go. Read. NOW.
Masked Man of Mystery 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 was the beginning of Hoff/Axel inspired by the Monty Python skit where a man wrestles himself?
Tony149 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 I'm going to leave feedback on the stuff I read in GCF eariler in the day and the ME. I'll feedback the rest later. Drek's return was quite a surprise. Normally OAOAST Mods aren't secretive about plans, but this was one I didn't see coming. Judging by Stone's actions, it looks like him and Malibu will hook up at some point, a match I can't recall being done before. A "dream match" IMO. Zack made mention of a camera being at the right place at the right time when he and SG entered the arena. It's something I've thought about, and if I ran a promotion I would have the PBP announcer or whatever authority figure mention how the fed placed cameras all over the buildings and signed an agreement with the local arenas to use their cameras as well to explain "the invisible camera." If there was an attack in the parking lot, we'd see the arena's black and white security camera. I'm disappointed with the Cornette/Boiz promos I wrote. The original plan was scraped just 24 hours ago because I felt it was better suited for another time, but as I go back and re-read both promos they come off better than before. Still, a weak effort on my part. I thought KC did a great job with BBB-Blonde/Faqu tag match. I liked the spot where Blonde held O'Hara up for Charles to hit, but he didn't. The man has ethics! BTW, how many of you remember that throwing an opponent over the top rope is an automatic DQ in HI-YAH? I talked about not being happy with the promos I wrote, but I was happy with the Frank-Logan "match". For the second week in a row, the ending was rushed, but I felt the brief action more than made up for it. Eski touched on it a while back, but for whatever reason the Frankies and Heavenly Rockers have some good chemistry together.
Masked Man of Mystery 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 awesome ending, a bit more gruesome than I like, but whatever. the first match was a bit confusing, more becaus I didn't know the names all that well, ...er my match sucked, as did my two segs(what did you expect?), the Axel/Hoff match was fun to read, the attack by Crystal and Gunner brought us back to reality, and uh, that's all I got right now. Masked Man of Mystery 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 what exactly does HI-YAH stand for? maybe I'd understand the old school no over the top rule then
Tony149 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 what exactly does HI-YAH stand for? maybe I'd understand the old school no over the top rule then Nothing. It's a fictional Japanese promotion created in the event guys went AWOL or just didn't have any ideas for their characters, so they'd be shipped overseas that way they'd have an excuse for a character returning instead of guys disappering for 3 months and returning out of the blue. The over the top rule is just a throwback. Hopefully that all made sense.
Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 I remember when Bill Watts introduced that over the top rule in WCW, and all the matches that ended cheaply that way. That man had some strange ideas amongst his good ones. Wow, I can't believe its nearly June already. Oh, feedback: Good opening match/skirmish. I like Tony's "Man of Tomorrow" and "Psycho Gremlin" names, helps make the Frankies feel more big league. Should be a big, crazy match when the teams finally lock up again. Ah, a ladder match. Probably a good idea, as we had the straight Axel/Crystal match at Anglemania. Always hard to write with drama ("He's climbing...he climbs some more...") but I'm sure it'll be a fun match. Alf's sports stuff still wooshes me in a big way. Poopdogg? Heh. Comedy devil worshippers will always have a place in the OAOAST. Fun BBB tag team. Woo, Funyon cameo! He's come to lead the InVasion! I liked the Robinson bit too, while Blonde & Faqu looked good in their first match for a while. A rematch at the PPV? Tony, I thought your promos were fine. I like the $20k thrown in there, and the Nerdlys being actually afraid of the match was cute. Wow, OAOAST sitcoms running wild! Excellent bastard-ism from Christian Wright. Igor must pay for pinning the former champ! Solid promo from Team Otaku. I like that Otaku is all no-nonsense. Richards-Phoenix was a really decent match. Jumbo's appearance was quite random, but interesting, and good to see PK back in action. Really fun X title match. Good use of props, especially pumpkin and bees~! I was actually once going to debut a character that was a beekeeper, and had his bees interfere in matches for him. Anyway, creative stuff here. Threatening to burn the ref with a flamethrower gets Asmodai over in my eyes...But the Foot Soldiers throw a fireball and DON'T get DQd?! Might wanna throw in a few descriptions of moves, as we're all lazy and don't want to have to look up what the Bubblegum Crash is. Decent little match anyway. Ok Hoff-Axel promos, although nothing stood out too much. The following match had some good laughs in it though. A knock down via picture taking works for me. Glad to see it get serious at the end with a good beatdown from the heels. Zack-Jax was the start of a potentially really good match, but the best stuff being saved for PPV no doubt. Great to see Drek back. Piledriver THROUGH a steel chair? That's one powerful move. Solid show, no big standout classic matches but the comedy ones were entertaining and all the angles advancing strongly.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 Woo, Funyon cameo! He's come to lead the InVasion! I actually don't remember typing Funyon, so I have no idea why I did. Infact, I only noticed while reading the show. Actual feedback to come...but, I really want to know what the hell Hoff was smoking when he wrote his match and where I can gets me some. Hoff 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 Adam and I co-wrote. We...we let our imaginations go. I'll say more later, but let me say how much I missed Drek Stone. NOT AT ALL. HA~!
Adam 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 With Zack prone on the mat, this unknown man starts laying in a series of vicious stomps to the face of The Franchise. After one particularly hard kick to the jaw, the man takes a second to move away from his fallen foe and move right into the center of the ring. The crowd roars in shock as they get a good glimpse of this mysterious attacker and realize it is none other than…. COLE DREK STONE!! IT’S DREK STONE!! CABOOSE OH MY GOD! DREK STONE IS BACK!! MARKS TEH FUK OUT!
Adam 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 was the beginning of Hoff/Axel inspired by the Monty Python skit where a man wrestles himself? Actually, I got the idea from Al Snow vs. himself in ECW, although I never saw the match, I thought I'd give it a try. I think it came off ok.

Hoff 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 If anyone has the logo pic saved somewhere I'd appreciate it. The opening match was really wild, which is why I decided to open with it. I like how Frank is going. It was REALLY weird to se The Dude as a de facto face, but not entirely unpleasant. He strikes me as the sort who could inadvertantly get a face reaction de temps en temps with his antics. Don't think he'd work as a full-on face, yet, but this was neat. Satan's Foot Soldiers were, well, short and to the point. I chuckled. BBB vs. Blonde and Faqu was decent, and it served its purpose, getting all involved more over. The Sk8r promo was an interesting direction, I'm interested to see where it goes. I had no idea what KC was going to do with Igor...given that the tildebang is the greatest thing ever, I highly approve. I hope Otaku gets played straight because we've seen the "claim to be honest and then cheat" act a billion times. Whereas this interests me. As I said last week (which was actually EARLIER TONIGHT), not everything has to be sparklers and cupcakes. Otaku is a refreshing change of pace. I hope people liked the Richards match. I hadn't written a cruiser match in some time. As for the angle...keep watchin'. SOME GUY Does this look like the same GPX to you? TONY He does have a point, Dan. Hmm. Alf/Dude went from good brawl to CHAOS, I enjoyed it. Nice with Supes messing shit up at the end, a good touch. Team Otaku/SFS was short but not bad by any means. Caught some puro references that I was unfamiliar with, but it didn't hurt my enjoyment of the match. So, let me say. Adam and I have received some criticism over the direction of our current angle, and we feel ya. But this is something we both wanted to do for a while, and I think it came off okay. Don't fret, because business really WILL pick up soon, and things will get serious. Zack vs. Jax was short due to reasons unforseeable, but the match wasn't the point anyway. Let's be honest, it was a centerpiece for the man of the hour. Welcome back, Drek Stone.
Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 On the subject of returns, does anyone know if Sly is actually coming back?
NYU 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 Last I heard, Sly ISN'T coming back now.....which, somehow, wound up throwing a wrench into my plans once again. Not surprised. And Drek Stone is BACK OMGGGGGGGGGGGG!! Detailed feedback later.
Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 It also somewhat screws up the BattleBowl match I'm writing. Hmmm. We're not using Hell's Hitmen in that are we...I'll throw Jingus into his place.

Might wanna throw in a few descriptions of moves, as we're all lazy and don't want to have to look up what the Bubblegum Crash is. Decent little match anyway. The Bubblegum Crash is a Styles Clash, I rushed the thing and forgot how big I made SFS, so it shouldn't have worked, actually. I rushed the match

Tony149 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 I remember when Bill Watts introduced that over the top rule in WCW, and all the matches that ended cheaply that way. That man had some strange ideas amongst his good ones. Ah, as a mark for Bill Watts' WCW I cannot let that injustice go. The over the top rope rule had long been an NWA/WCW rule, which was finally dropped sometime in 1996 or '97, Watts just banned (in a horrible mistake considering their roster) moves off the top. I did like the idea of keeping kneedrops to the head banned though.
Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 Ah, maybe that was what I was thinking of. I found an old tape I made of WCW Worldwide stuff recently where Scorpio beat The Barbarian via over the top rope DQ. GMC then announced the winner as "The Bar- 2 Cold Scorpio!". KingPK 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 Good opening match with some nice action early that led to the brawl at the end. Crystal and ladders......don't remind me (let's see who gets that). Heh.....Poopdog. It's the simple things I enjoy. Satan's Foot Soldiers seem fun to hang with. I'll bet the "Satan Is My Homeboy" catchphrase will sell a lot of shirts. Like Hoff said, the BBB/Blonde and Faqu match served it's purpose well. Heh, I liked how the Sk8ter Boyz realized they're wayyyy out of their element in facing the tag champs again. Marv being completely petrified ("Jiminy Jillikers! We're screwed!") was great. "The Suite Life of Zack And Some Guy"? Well.....it's better than 95% of anything on UPN. Caboose beating Cole = RATINGS! OMG TILDEBANG~! That brings out the best in everything. Should be interesting if the Eugene route is taken with Igor. It wouldn't be especially ORIGINAL, but a Russian version would be comedy gold. Hmm....what's Josie's problem, I wonder? Good simple promo from Team Otaku. Once you start writing more the ideas will flow easier. Impressive debut by Richards, with a tinge of heelness in his repetoire I see. But why oh why did Jumbo get involved? Oh, I'm facing Jay at the PPV eh? I love when Josie takes the leash off, heh heh heh. More later.
Some Guy 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 I remember when Bill Watts introduced that over the top rule in WCW, and all the matches that ended cheaply that way. That man had some strange ideas amongst his good ones. Ah, as a mark for Bill Watts' WCW I cannot let that injustice go. I did like the idea of keeping kneedrops to the head banned though. I think the over-the-top rope rule ended officially on the first (or one of the first) episodes of Thunder. Whatever year that was. I can see Watts' logic as far as banning moves off the top (it creates cheap heat with heels cheating), but given the roster he inherited, which included Pillman and Liger it was a stupid move. I enjoyed what I read of HD this week. Alf having the map of the Fairgrounds was awesome and I really liked the brawl. The Zack and SG feud with GPX and CWM and Tony is shaping up nicely. Probably because I'm not writing any of it.
CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2005 Crystal and ladders......don't remind me (let's see who gets that). Better keep that 24/7 title safe! I'll feedback later, but I just had to respond.
Tony149 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2005 Finishing up the feedback... I think it's a good idea to add a gimmick to the Axel-Crystal match. Something to spice it up. Enjoyed the Alf-Dude promo. For some reason I loved Dude saying he hadn't watched a game since the days of Dr. J. I wonder if Hell's Hitmen and Satan’s Foot Soldiers are from rival parts of the neighborhood. That'd actually make for an interesting feud, IMO. Running gags the rage indeed. I can't get the image of Igor as a Russian Eugene out of my mind. Didn't see the alliance between Richards and Jumbo coming. Nice to see another singles match added to SO, which is totally dominated by tag matches. Good debut for SFS. But like Eski said, a bit more description would help. Absolutely loved the Alf-Dude match. It gave a Cactus Jack-Van Hammer vibe from their Clash XVII match in 1991. Lots of nice spots, i.e. the bees, stealing nachos, attacking Nachos Girl's dad and putting him through a table with the 5-star Alf Splash, CORN DOG STICK AS A WEAPON, etc. I think the finish was my favorite part of the match, even if the decision was reversed. Awesome! (The use of the map was brilliant as well.) Crystal and Gunner's run-in at the end saved the Hoff-Axel match, IMHO. Great effort though, and really well-written. I just don't know if I'd want the World Champion and a top contender stuck in a comedy match like that, you know. But Hoff already addressed that issue, so... Solid effort this week.
