RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 I only caught about 10 seconds of Benoit/Tajiri. In that 10 seconds they managed to show how completely inept they are about the ECW PPV.
Guest Fook Report post Posted May 24, 2005 I think the fact that those 10 seconds was about one tenth of the match is even worse.

Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 I was flipping channels, but I managed to see Batista giving a tribute to Fedor by punching from guard, and Edge getting his back and going for a bodylock submission, ala Salaverry at a recent UFC card. I was pleased. The ending was lame though.
CBright7831 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 I marked at how the crowd wanted a table, and Tajiri pulled out everything but the table.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 Had Benoit/Tajiri happened in ECW, it would have been the opposite of what they did on RAW. Dammit, Irawny continues!
BUTT 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 Just wondering, why does WWE always go to Alberta at the end of May? Is it because they think attendance in the US would be down because of Memorial Day?
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 Agreed. Benoit and Tajiri weren't remotely garbage style wrestlers on ECW. They would have eschewed chairs and tables. Another fundamental problem with this is Vince's whole admission on TV that he was basically funding Heyman under the table. I know it gives a logical reason for the PPV to take place, but it makes ECW seem kinda....lame. Corporate even. Also, Heyman should have pointed out to Bisch that ECW actually outlasted WCW by a week or so (I do believe WCW was sold to Vince right before ECW went bankrupt and ceased operations). The way this is being framed though I have to wonder if they are setting up for ECW to come back, at the very least as a faction within Raw. Is it possible they might split the two hours of Raw between Heyman and Bischoff? Think about it, the crowd still doesn't respond to the aching WWE letters, they flat out boo WCW....but ECW draws lots of cheers.
what 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 It woulda been cool if Edge (new champ), Christian, Tomko, and FLAIR (all dressed in black) formed an alliance, with Lita as valet. Forcing Triple H and Batista to allign and battle the upstarts all summer. But I guess burying Edge and having a 55 or however year old man kick CC and Tomko's ass, and then doing "GRRRR, Triple H ANGRY! Hell in a Cell!" was better. Raw sucks. Your idea is pretty shit too, buddy. What they did today builds to the PPV nicely. Stop your unnecessary bitching.

And that Edge's momentum just kind of got killed. And that they are building to a PPV match that no one wants to see. Not to mention that Batista vs Triple H I and II didn't exactly light the world on fire.

UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 Who is this "what" character and when did he begin working for WWE? Seriously, let's look at Raw: POSITIVE #1: Jericho's "new direction". POSITIVE #2: The ECW Promo. The "I control ECW, altho you own it" was a nice touch and a necessary one to let the smarks know that Heyman won't let the product (hopefully) become the crap that Benoit Vs. Tajiri was this week. POSITIVE #3: Edge's MASSIVE heel heat. Finally. The push has paid off. POSITIVE #4: Lita is boo'd and it's part of the storyline. POSITIVE #5: Batista's excellent fan reaction. NEGATIVE #1: Hassan & Daivari Vs. Benjamin. These guys were really off. 3 Blown Sequences, at least that's how many I saw. Benjamin gets MAJOR pop, but loses to poor worker. NEGATIVE #2: Jericho Vs. Grenier. Very sloppy. Enzugiri. Corner dropkick. Just...weak. NEGATIVE #3: Flair is far more effective at his age as a run-in face, was PERFECT to further develop Batista's growing fan-base, and not H's lackey. We've seen it. NEGATIVE #4: Viscera. This is stupid and too indy. The Coach? Uh...okay. "oh no, he called him fat." NEGATIVE #5: What's the point of having Edge win a grueling 3-week tourney, and build up the "importance" of the Money in the Bank Match, when Triple H can just walk in the ring and make title matches. NEGATIVE #6: No new heel star solidified. It's the Triple H show. NEGATIVE #7: Diva Search 2005 continues to be hyped. NEGATIVE #8: Tag Team Scene. Or lack thereof. Champs not even mentioned. NEGATIVE #9: Flair single-handedly kicking Christian & Tomko's asses. I laugh at the "Christian for WWE Champion" posts made a few weeks back. NEGATIVE #10: Kane Vs. Edge impending feud. This won't be pretty. The guys just don't work well together. NOTE: Of the 5 positives, 3 of them had to do with the hot crowd. Lita and Edge were perceived as fresh and new threats. That has been squashed. Enjoy the mid-card. And Batista? He had the aura of a real champion tonight, and is now back fighting the guy that sucks the heat and life out of everything fun. "what"? I said enjoy Raw, lemming.

Ill be shocked to find out that the show wasnt badly booked in some way...and HHH didnt show up Eh I'm not ordering it simply BECAUSE it's probably going to end up WWE's interpretation of what ECW was. Mainly, a lot of tonight's Tajiri/Benoit match. If it turns out to be good ol' fashioned ECW I'll probably pick up the DVD.

iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 For the record, HHH didn't "make a title match" tonight. He got Flair to hurt Batista emotionally, and then beat the living fuck out of him as well to try to piss Dave off enough to accept his HIAC challenge. UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 Oh, Flair hurt Batista emotionally? I bet that was a lot of emotion built up over *SEVEN DAYS*. As opposed to the past 5 months that Flair and HHH have spent fighting with Batista. If that was the angle they were going for, it was rushed, and poorly executed. The HIAC was announced a month ago on the 'net. With that said, they can have their horrible gimmick match. They could have at least helped build solid foundations for new stars tonight. If "emotional sabotage" is the reason for Batista's revenge, according to you, then that alone should be enough for HITC, not what will surely be a worse match than their WM and Backlash snoozers. Instead, same old, same old...Yawn.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 Has anyone really thought about how much shit is going on? I mean, really? There's a buttload of storylines going on right now, most using subtleties and shades of grey. Oh, this pertains to Raw and not Smackdown, because I don't watch the latter enough to say what its tendencies are.
Guest hhheld_down Report post Posted May 24, 2005 i was big time disappointed with raw tonight. the ecw segment had me knda wanting something more and RAW's ending was bullshit. are they sure bischoff is the GM or is it really HHH cause i cant tell. And that flair swerve is no longer a big deal WWE find something different you dipshits. Everything else was very blah. Kane crying (WTF), vis humpin coach, and bad matches all around. vengence looks very boring with kane/edge batista/hhh III, bejanmn/hassan. I really hope they can pull miracles next month with the draft cause things are really fucking stale.
Silence 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 Is it just me or is it such a strange coincidence that on the night that HHH comes back, Raw starts sucking like it did not too long ago? Then again, last week's show wasn't really anything to brag about, either. Nonetheless, Raw did suck last night, especially the ending.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 Well the thing is what exactly is the point of any of this? Sure there are a lot of storylines on Raw right now but the characters are so muddled for the most part that it's hard to know who to cheer. You can do this shades of gray crap sometimes but at the base level you have to have a heel and a face. Even Russo realized this for all his hype about shades of gray. Seriously, Raw with HHH on top is so unbearably stale that I'm almost wishing someone would injure him just to get him off my TV. It's just this horrible, repetitive bullshit. Either HHH has the belt and it's boring or someone else has the belt and HHH challenges for it ad nauseum until he wins it back. I mean why doesn't Batista simply say "Fuck you, I don't want to wrestle you again?" Basically the past few weeks go as thus: HHH is on the show all the time and bores the shit out of me, and the show sucks. OR....HHH is not on the show and they seem to intentionally make it suck so that people wish HHH was back. Smackdown right now is so much better than Raw it's not even funny. Now that the Bradshaw push from hell has been toned down I'm finding SMDN quite enjoyable.
