Masked Man of Mystery 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2005 Solid stuff all around, my only complaints would be the lack of transitional stuff from the commentators as things progress, but then maybe I've been spoiled by recent Helddowns, and the lack of promos from others. Great stuff otherwise, guys(and gals)
Tony149 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2005 (edited) Solid stuff all around, my only complaints would be the lack of transitional stuff from the commentators as things progress... I know what you mean. I'm a little burned out right now after having written a six-man and two tag matches this past week, and I wrote most of the Sooner Bruisers-Heavenly Rockers match earlier today, so I was too tired to deal with the little things. Still haven't read Thursday's HD or any of the PPV yet. Just think of it as a retro OAOAST show, where we hardly bothered to do small things like that. The opening, or lack thereof, was by design. I was trying to capture the feel of being relieved school was over and you were ready to start your summer, etc. Edited May 30, 2005 by Tony149
Hoff 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2005 Just wanted to give quick props to Papa on the grafix. More when I get back from vacation.
Adam 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2005 What I have read has been awesome. Hoff/Gunner was a markout moment to start with, the Thrillogy T-Shirt and 'Black' playing him to the ring once again. The finish was good, and the match was a very solid up-and-down affair. While he didn't win the match, Gunner still looked like a threat. Perhaps needs a little more padding in the middle, but I know Hoff, like me, has had a terrible schedule over the last couple weeks. I'm happy to see Chris Stevens back, even with the blatant ripoff of that hit American TV Show. Funny that Jay Richards uses Christian as his picture, but I always pictured Stevens as a Christian-type heel, and now he has a Christian-type stable. Good to see where this goes, and if PK can hit back in the coming weeks. The Three Way Tag was great, it put GPX over HUGE as threats to everyone, and it even moved Black T from full on heels to more towards the tweener side of things. I'm very interested to see where this ends up. Finally, I had a good time writing the Main Event, and I hope everyone enjoyed it. More feedback to come. Good show guys. CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted May 31, 2005 Great effort boys. Ha, nice dig on *ahem* other promotions for doing long video packages, although I admit I do like them. Normally, I'd think blood in the first match wouldn't be such a good idea, but hell, it worked. I liked the crowd believing more and more in the Skater Bois as they, especially the Merv, proved their toughness and will to win. Very fast paced and good match to start off with. A couple of strange promos from our newest female additions. I must admit, I haven't had the most time in the world to catch up with new characters, so I was a bit confused. Not taking away from your promo with my ignorance though. Want to know something funny about the name James Blond? He's from Vancouver BC, and that's funny because in a suburb of Vancouver, there's a salon named James Blond. It's the first thing I noticed. Anywho, good comedy match, although near the end I was SO hoping for a Lil Natch win. Short match between Lilith and Ayane. It seemed that too much stuff happened at once without there being much of an explaination. But a good effort nevertheless. Well that was squasharific. Now, I'm not one for random T&A, but hey, that was funny. And man, it is good to see Leon back. I love his fun loving attitude, and it never changing no matter what situation he's in. Although I have a feeling that Leon isn't going to be too happy over Christian's revenge... Oooh, is the beatdown of Alf a foreshadowing? We shall see I suppose. I'll feedback the rest tomorrow. CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2005 Feeback part 2 I like that headlock/suplex/keep headlock sequence that Logan and Frank did. I can't think of a time I've seen that. Great brawl. I love No DQ matches that are all out brawls rather than using weapons for the sake or using weapons. And dramatic segment with Holly. I'm definately intrigued. Funny way to get rid of Coach as a commentary. Now why doesn't JR do that to King? And an interesting ref bump too! A little too short for my liking, but hey, the guy hadn't slept for 24 hours. Good match, especially with the focus of Jay Richards being a rookie. CSI, eh? I can dig. Cute Old School reference there. I liked the match and how Gunner focused and did everything right, but Hoff just outsmarted him. Still, Gunner looked good I thought. GREAT Three way tag match. GPX stealing everybody's moves was freaking gold. I don't even know what to say specifically except that I really enjoyed reading it.
Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2005 Really enjoyed the opening tag bout. Tony didnt tell me the straps were going onto the Boiz, so it was nice to have a match with a surprise ending, which we don't get too often. I don't know what Tony has planned but I think theres definite potential for more matches between these teams. The Boiz have some really nice offence which is helping them get over as a credible team, in my eyes at least. I always liked Lil' Naitch. Fun tag match here too, established the BBB as having some ability too with the SS legdrop. Good little hardcore match. A bit short, but then hardcore matches shouldn't be epics anyway. Igor-Christian was a good showcase for Wright, and I liked Rodez's return, although it maybe made Christian look a little too silly. I'm sure he'll get some heinous~ revenge, though. Cool Drek/GPX beat down on Alf. Nice set up segment. Frankies-THR continued their tradition of fun, violent brawls. Interesting to see where the Cornie stuff goes. X title match was too short to really go anywhere but nothing bad at all, and the length of match is understandable with FM wanting a break. Jay Richards-PK could have developed into a good match too, but worked as the vehicle to bring Chris Stevens match. CSI should be cool. And I will try to feed the last two matches later. Honest. King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2005 The opening, or lack thereof, was by design. I was trying to capture the feel of being relieved school was over and you were ready to start your summer, etc. Liar. Well, I suppose I better say something about the show. Quite a few of the matches were pretty short (at least, by PPV standards) and two of them were mine. Then again, there was a good reason for all of them, so it's cool with me. I'm surprised the Sk8ter Boiz won the straps, but I suspect a little Cornette legal wrangling because of the restart. Good stuff there. The Hardcore Match showed improvement from the HD match MMoM wrote, which is a goal for pretty much everyone here...self improvement. That and attention seeking. Speaking of which, Rodez's return~! Eski, I agree it was a little OTT in terms of Wright's embarrassment. Not sure if you were around then or not, but I'm trying to take a little influence from the Midnight Carnival in the SWF's old days and have Rodez become a bit more of a 'prankster' than a 'fighter'. Plus, after doing my best to make him an ass to Igor, I figured it was a good enough time for some Wright comeuppance. And yes, expect henious revenge. Alf is the ultimate cheap heat guy. It'd be cool for him to randomly end a promo with 'Praise Allah', just for the hell of it. Nice beatdown to continue GPX's reign of terror. Frankies/THR did it's job and more. Very good, chaotic brawl...and some storyline development to boot. Good to see Frig got something done, despite his insomnia. Nice to see Stevens' return, even if I did upstage it slightly. CSI would have been a good name for a tag team with detective gimmick. Hoff has robbed us of that gimmick now. Probably for the best. Hoff/Gunner was a little short too, but that's to be expected. Still a decent match though. The triple threat was great. Just what the GPX needed after losing to two chicks at Anglemania. Not that there's anything wrong with losing to chicks. It developed a whole bunch of storylines, put GPX over strong, made Black T a little more likeable, teased Drek vs. Zack...all round good stuff. And the Ladder Match was very good too. I actually did wonder if Crystal would win at one point, which in itself is an accomplishment. Either that, or my prediction radar's faulty. Got all the spots in and Crystal ends up looking pretty decent at the end of it. Good stuff.
Tony149 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2005 (edited) Some feedback. Will do the rest later. Poor NNMX. They never seem to be able to keep the tag titles. The ref stop false finish is borrowed from the Thrillseekers-Heavenly Bodies match from SMW where Jericho loses a great deal of blood wrestling with a broken arm. I learned from the past when The Love Doctors got too strong when they began feuding with Black T and I didn't want to repeat history with The Sk8ter Boiz. That's why I believe the loss of blood The Marv sustained did a lot for the Boiz as it showed the underdogs who know they're underdogs have heart. BBB-Blonde/Charles: Entertaining. I was marking out when Lil' Naitch got the tag and came in chopping away. WHOOOOOOO~! at "Now...we go to kindergarten!!" Bonus points for calling 2001 "Sprach Zarathustra". Maybe we could use FIYAH as HIYAH's European sister promotion. And EH for Canada. PK-Richards: It was short but still enjoyable. Loved the naming of Stevens' stable CSI. While it probably refers to HD airing on Thursdays, I like how the show CSI actually airs that night too, maybe intended as a double-meaning. I'm actually surprised to see praise for The Heavenly Rockers-Sooner Bruisers match. It went through a massive rewrite the afternoon of the show as I was embarrassed by the original version. I had finished the six-man tag match for HD on Tuesday and just needed to touch it up a bit before moving onto my PPV matches when I realized how weak the six-man was so I went back and spent the next two days rewriting it because I didn't want to half-ass something FM thought I'd do a better job writing. The six-man turned out well, but I thought my two matches at SO, specifically the Rockers-Bruisers match, weren't as good as it could've been. Good Hoff promo before his match. Good match as well. The 3 Way Dance can only be described in one word: Awesome. I also noticed my character wasn't referred to as "The Body" anywhere in the match. In a way it finally ended the streak of constantly being referred to by that moniker long ago dropped, but it was a Zack special so I kinda miss it. Edit: Excellent job with the graphics, Papacita. Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2005 Glad everyone liked the 3 way tag. I was going for non-stop action and I think it worked out pretty nicely. Kudos to Zack for a great opening portion, too. I'm away till the 12th now, apologies for not getting to the other matches in detail, but I thought they both did a great job considering they were match ups we'd seen before and the winners were obvious. Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2005 I do have to read the full show, as I'm still trying to catch up on everything since getting back from FL. I will admit I went over the three way dance to see how Eski picked up on it, and as expected he didn't disappoint. Papacita, you did a hell of a job on the graphics. Actual feedback will follow this little tidbit, I promise.
Masked Man of Mystery 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2005 I'm really not good at writing matches longer than what you saw at the PPV, so maybe I'd be good as the opening match in the future. I'm flattered that people feel I'm worthy of being in the mid card, but I've had to write long matches in the past when I was in GCW and they sucked.
