From Elias...

• Livan Hernandez threw 127 pitches in eight innings in defeating Oakland, 4-3. Hernandez threw 150 pitches in his last start (Friday vs. Florida). That total of 277 pitches is the most thrown by any pitcher over a two-game span since Randy Johnson threw 281 in July 1999.

I'm convinced that he can throw 140 pitches every start for the rest of his career and have no negative effects from it. HIS ARM IS PURE RUBBER.

Orioles gain a game on the Red Sox, Yankees and possibly the Blue Jays with their win tonight, which is really good.

Ryan struck out the side in the 9th to maintain the 4-3 lead.

Oh and I see Jeffrey Hammonds retired. I still have his rookie card.

/tears it up into little shreds

I was at the Cubs/Sox game today and man, what a great experience. The atmosphere was amazing because of the blend of Sox and Cubs fans. By the sixth or seventh inning, Red Sox fans had nothing more to do than get wasted. But getting to see so many historical things AND Maddux go yard was indescribable.

That Manny AB was horrible pitching by Dempster imo. Yea, throw outside a couple times, but you EVENTUALLY have to throw inside, or what Manny did was obviously going to happen.

Fuckin' Jays get my hopes up again, scoring 2 off of Lidge (who was probably tired) to tie the game in the 9th, only to lose it on a Morgan Ensberg walk-off 3 run shot.

Yankees get good news as Austin Jackson decides to play baseball instead of basketball, and signs with the Yanks. He was ranked the 77th best prospect in the draft, but fell to the 8th round due to him looking like he was headed to GT before the draft.

Holy shit. The second coming of Benny Agbayani (also known as Marlon Anderson) just hit an inside-the-park home run to tie up the Angels-Mets game at two in bottom of the ninth.

Mets need this win to say the least. Losing three in a row at home is awful, especially when two of those losses are to the Astros.

Mets win in an absolutely amazing game. Floyd belts a three-run home run in bottom of the 10th to put the Mets up 5-3 and keep them somewhat in the NL East race.

Pedro tomorrow. :)

He's awful, you're right. But he's also the second highest paid Marlin this year behind Mike Lowell (Delgado is backloaded). I know that's a bad way to run a franchise - but it also means they'll keep trotting him out there.

I still think he's worth the money. I think he's had a great influence on Beckett and especially Dontrelle.

Having rookies in your lineup and watching their fuckups is hard to get used to. 2nd and 3rd, one out for the Yanks with Cano up and Pavano on deck. Obviously, Morris is going to pitch around Cano to get to Pavano. Cano doesn't understand, and pops out on the 2nd pitch.

Great day to turn back the clock to the Devil Ray days Tanyon, ugh.

Today was a must win.

*sigh*

The odd thing is, our bullpen has been our only sure thing this year. Since Mo blew two saves against the Sox, him Gordon and Sturtze had combined for 57 innings and 7 total runs.

Everyone else can go away.

Went to the White Sox/Padres game today. Brian Lawrence did well enough to sustain a lead over the White Sox for the whole time he was there (7ish innings). It was Aki Otsuka who allowed the walk on a bases loaded situation to force the tying run in. Then it was Trevor Hoffman who allowed the 3-run blast in the 10th inning to pretty much clinch the White Sox win. Good day to be a WSox fan.

Question for Al or anyone else who can answer.

Who is this Philip Hughes guy in the Yankees system? Hes absolutley tearing up Single A. Is he that good?

Based on this season, he is a prospect. Just remember that it is a long way from Low A ball to the majors. Yankee fans are unlikely to see him until 2008-09, and that is if everything goes right. Keep an eye on him however, as his statistics are very promising.
