Subway getting rid of the Sub Club

So I go to Subway today for lunch and there's a big sign saying they're phasing out the Sub Club (the deal where they give you stickers and you redeem them for a free sub once you've collected enough). Apparently they're still accepting filled cards until September, but they're not giving out any more new ones.

 

This pisses me off. I was four stamps away from a free footlong too. I can still use some of them to get a six inch, but the rest are garbage.

I heard about this, but I thought that they were starting some sort of card deal similar to what Grocery stores have, which would eliminate the fraud that I heard they are claiming as to why they are stopping the sticker club cards.

I have a sub card, have had one for about six months. No cost, pretty much the same deal as the stamps.

 

Are the really going to be toasting all their subs?

Toasting is an option but yes, you can get any sub you want toasted.

 

I work in the same plaza as a Subway and an employee found an entire roll of stamps a few weeks ago in the trash while taking out our garbage. Our entire staff was dining on free Subway for a good week and a half until a dumbass employee spilled the beans to the Subway owners who promptly demanded that we give the stamps back before they called the cops. We laughed, then gave them their stamps back.

I walked into Subway twenty minutes ago, and received the normal two stamps for a footlong, as well as a new card.

I fucking hate toasted subs. There is no point for subs to be toasted. I hate Quiznos because everything is toasted and its not even remotely healthy. Blimpie is alright but the closest one by me is about an hour and a half away so I don't frequent it very much.

 

Half of the shits that work at Subway here don't know what is going on and give you 4 stamps every time. I'm sad to see the cards go.

I like my cheesesteak subs toasted. Otherwise I usually pass.

 

And the worst thing about Quizno's is that they're extremely overpriced.

 

My only real alternatives, other than mom-and-pop places, to Subway in my area (nearest Quizno's is near Pittsburgh) are Sheetz and GetGo (GetGo's a gas station owned by the Giant Eagle supermarket chain, who basically have cloned everything about Sheetz that they could get away with). GetGo's food is mediocre. Sheetz's stuff is good, depending on what you get.

You gotta go to a hole in the wall or mom and pop place for decent sandwiches, I've always felt.

 

Which isn't a shot at Subway, Mr. Sub or Quizno's, but there's no less than four sub shops near my apartment that offer two foot longs for 5 bones.

If your ever in Seattle, Mario Batali's parents have a great italian sandwich place in Pioneer Square, called Salumi. They cure the meats and make the sausages, which you can buy, and the sandwiches are on fresh artisinal bread.

One shop near my home has 2.50 subs each day of the week. Like, Monday is Turkey, Tuesay is Meatball, etc. All I want is to give me a shopping bag full of lettuce, tomatoes, cukes, onions. pickles, pepperocinnis and jalapenos. I'll sit in a crawlspace and grub on that shit.

Personally I say fuck them all, I go for the local hole in the wall delis. They always have the best sandwiches. Where I live I recommend Better Foods and Beachouse/Beachut Delis.

for some reason I doubt I would find good italian food in seattle, but should I ever be in town Ill try that place just to be fair.

 

I didnt even know about the sub club, damnn. I could have had a free sandwhich by now.

 

though in truth subway cant hold a candle with their meats to BOARS HEAD products, of which are very hard to find in socal.

I can't stop wanting subway. A new one opened (they've not been around that long in the UK anyways) just up the road from the club we left at 2:30am, and seeing it open at that time almost made me weep with joy. That was one of the best things that's ever happened to me.

I don't crave Subway anymore since I've started going to a mom-and-pop place near me (TJ's Hero Shop). They have the most awesome heroes around, and they have bags of my favorite, but hard to find, potato chips (Cape Cod Barbecue).

 

If anybody bothers going out to Long Island (particularly central-eastern Suffolk), they have three locations: Patchogue (Montauk Highway by LIPA), Mastic Beach (by William Floyd High School on Mastic Road), and Middle Island (on Middle Country, but I don't know where).
