SmackDown's 1st Draft Lottery Pick is...

Recommended Posts

LAME..

What are they going to do without a champion?  The longer they go without one, the worse it makes things.  I know that they can draft HHH/Batista anytime they want with the next 4 picks, but still.

Someone in the RAW thread said "JBL can go around with the old title now"(paraphrasing) and Im begining to believe that.  They can't just up and create a new title again either.

It would have been too repetitive to have the champs switch in one week. Also Batista/HHH would still be facing off on RAW so having either of them on RAW and Smackdown would be stupid. My scenario is they'll either have Cena v Christian and trade Christian win and head to Smackdown or have the winner of HHH/Batista head to Smackdown. but I'm nearly 99% wrong most of the time lol

March 25, 2002: Vince McMahon drafts Benoit to Smackdown as his 3rd choice, despite being injured.

May 27, 2002: For no reason in particular, Benoit shows up at Raw.

August 1, 2002: Benoit (and Eddie) 'defect' to Smackdown.

January 26, 2004: Benoit returns to Raw to challenge Triple H.

June 10, 2005: Benoit returns to Smackdown?

Why the need to shift Benoit around so much? I still think there was a lot more he could have done on Raw. I've gotta say, I would have rather had a good Benoit vs Benjamin feud than yet another feud with Angle (and Guerrero) that are inevitably going to happen on Smackdown.

It's gonna be interesting to see where Eddie and Angle in end up now that Benoit is on SD

One good thing about this situation is that Benoit beat Triple H in their last match on Raw--so he technically "won" against Triple H.

Well, good. Benoit was treading water on Raw anyway.

What they do with him after this ECW thing dies down, I don't know. Hopefully, they decide he'll get a good match out of JBL instead of rushing into Benoit/Eddie yet again or Benoit/Angle. But they need to do something to rebuild him after losing the Edge feud (although, the way he was booked after the feud ended has been acceptable). They definatly need Jericho over too. Face Benoit vs. Heel Jericho would own.

EDIT: Is Taker still pushing for a match with Benoit? I'd wouldn't be surprised if Taker stayed on Smackdown now Benoit's over, so he can have that 'one last memorable match' he was rumoured to want at Mania.

WWE really needs to hold off Benoit/Eddie for quite a while. For one thing the Eddie/Rey feud is still red-hot and for another they've already had too many matches.

Come to think of it, they might want to hold out until WrestleMania for the Eddie/Benoit match. It could be huge, especially if they show footage of the two champions embracing at WrestleMania 20.

Smackdown getting Beniot is a good thing. Smackdown started to lose the momentum it had once Beniot went over to Raw so maybe since he's back on the Smackdown it can be on the path of being the better show. Now if Smackdown gets Tomko, Tajiri, Hurricane, and Christian over to the show and Cena back and not lose anymore top talent to Raw, Smackdown will diffently be the better show WITHOUT HHH!

Realistically, Taker's never gonna have a classic workrate match at WM. His best bet is a Hogan/Rock style mark-out match.

Is it possible that Christian may win the WWE title sometime in the next three weeks, then gets traded or drafted to SmackDown?  Vengeance also occurs before the final draft picks happen, I think, so it's entirely possible that, for example, the World Heavyweight Champ will be moved to SmackDown AFTER the Hell in a Cell.

This is EXACTLY what I theorized after seening Cena on RAW. To all the doubters, this is the only scenario that keeps lineage and manages to elevate a RAW wrestler coming into Smackdown! without hurting anyone else. BET IT!

Holy shit, I forgot about Taker. That's one match I've been waiting for for a long time now. Hopefully we'll get to see it.

That was me, and it is what should be done. Starting this Thursday Bradshaw should go off the deep end by being cocky and stuck up, strutting around with the title claiming to be the one and only TRUE WWE champion, and being focused upon as much as possible. I know many would hate it, but let that go on for three weeks or so, and then when Batista (or better yet HHH, although I doubt that'll happen) shows up with the World Title, things start to get even more interesting.

found at various news sites;

"Just to show you how secret WWE is keeping the draft, John Cena was hidden in a car in the back parking lot of RAW Monday. None of the agents or wrestler's knew who would be drafted until the actual highlight reel. John Bradshaw Layfield was also backstage at RAW during the early part of the day and many felt that could have been a decoy of sorts to fool the fans if anything leaked to the 'net. That never happened on Monday.

As far as the 'other' name who was drafted to SmackDown! (read the SmackDown! spoiler report for more), he was notified on Monday night backstage at RAW by Triple H and Stephanie McMahon and was asked to keep it to himself. He did not arrive to the SmackDown! tapings until very shortly before the show was taped and was kept of the way of all the guys in the back."

I wouldn't get happy about Benoit being out of HHH's reach just yet. Its still very possible that he wins Hell In A Cell and then get drafted over to Smackdown.

Also, we unfortunatly might miss out on another Benoit/Angle feud as I have a feeling that he'll be moving over to RAW.

Kudos to WWE for having the intelligence to have the foresight to keep Cena a mystery from even the guys in the back.

Amazing props to Jericho for his excellent improv segment with Cena... although you can imagine Jericho prepared for everyone and knew what to say for any situation. Also props to Christian for quickly picking up the ball and delivering a solid heel promo.

I wonder just how low key Cena had to be for this. I doubt he could have flown into St. Louis. For some reason I get a funny image of Cena in the backseat of a ford escort waiting for his cell to ring...

I didn't even think of that. Very awesome work from everyone involved.

However; what do we really gain from Benoit returning to smackdown?

more Guerrero/Angle/Mysterio matches? PASS. I want something fresh.

JBL, Paul London and The Undertaker are the only matches with Benoit that remotely interest me and maybe Charlie Haas to an extent.

JBL/Chris Benoit is a program that could go long and have a tremendous series of matches.

Since my sister blabbed, I am free to come here now.

I was pretty angry on Monday (and make no mistake, it is very bad for Cena), this certainly lifts my spirits by a great deal. Benoit never belonged on RAW in the first place, and it was time to get him back with guys like Eddy Guerrero & Kurt Angle. Smackdown may have lost week one in realistic terms, but for my enjoyment, I'll take Benoit over Cena any day.

Now I have no clue what Benoit did on Smackdown, but I would absolutely love to see him feud with JBL.

Was Taker actually pushing for a match with Benoit?

Benoit vs Taker was a match I wanted for Mania but now I'm also digging the thought of Benoit defending the heavyweight title against Rey at Mania.

That makes the segment EVEN MORE better. Segment of the year easy.

I'm starting to wish that they had kept the ECW thing a secret, having it where all of those ECW guys just came out of nowhere with Heyman. I'm talking about having it happen even before the PPV was announced. They could have given hits that SOMETHING was going to happen, like maybe Heyman coming back talking about creating a faction again, like what he had there for a while, but then it ends up with it just being ECW.

Imagine if we didn't have any idea about ECW, and we saw what we saw on the end of RAW happen.

I know why they didn't do it that way, they originally were going to just have the ECW show and not hardly promote it, but still. If they were going to include WWE guys in it, I wish they could have done something like that.

I can only imagine the talk that would be going on if what happend on RAW wasn't expected.

Benoit on Smackdown is a good thing I think. He wasnt going to move anywhere else on Raw this point and by moving him to smackdown he can teach some of the younger guys a thing or 2 in the ring. Let him work with OJ on house shows. JBL fued.....Charlie Hass could really benift from working with or agiasnt Benoit.

The way i see it is this, JBL/Benoit, TBS/Batista(they need a champion and I cant see HHH as sd guy) Haas/Benjamin(Yes might as well bring Benjamin over and firmly rebuild smackdown as the WRESTLING brand), Eddy/Rey should be forefront of Smackdown for the next 3 months.

JBL/Benoit would be quality wrestling and old school like crazy...Batista needs to escape Triple H quickly and needs to instantly look credible and a program with TBS could help him out...not a long 3 month program but a month would greatly benifit him. Eddy/Mysterio has alot of gas left in it that could potentially extend to the sd september ppv.

Wouldn't it be great if all the ECW guys on Raw were "drafted" to Smackdown? Then it's revealed Heyman somehow made that happen...and overthrows Smackdown.

Yeah, it would.

I think he should never have left. He had too much going vs Brock, Cena and Angle at the time (whom he has never gone over properly). I still cant understand what Cena is doing on RAW, unless its temporary. It would get a good pop for a month and then he goes back to the SD. Also, Id like HHH to go to SD. There are 2 ways this can play. Either HHH wins the world title and goes to SD to find JBL parading as the WWE Champion or HHH loses and says screw you all and jumps to SD.
