Road Warriors DVD

Recommended Posts

I picked it up today at Wal-Mart - $17.87. Best Buy had it for $23.99, which was actually MORE expensive than FYE at $21.99 minus a $5.00 rebate which 50% of the time gets lost in the mail anyway. Around here, Best Buy is usually cheaper than FYE by a long shot, but more expensive than Wal-Mart. I can usually pick up the monthly PPV at Wal-Mart for around $14.

Anyway, haven't watched the main feature yet, but I've flipped through many of the extras, and it's all gold. Lovin' it so far . . .

Midnights Vs. Road Warriors New Orleans Tag Title Change is sweet, fun story, ala Rockers/P& G SSlam 90. But more realistic.

Demo/Warriors was short and blah.

Nastys/Warriors wasn't as good as I remembered. But that match was made on the emotion of the asshole Nasty Boys FINALLY getting the shit kicked out of them. As I watch it, its them double-teaming Hawk for 8 minutes then Animal winning it with a hot tag. Watch the announcers completely NO SELL the mace that Sags sprays in Hawk's eyes (important) and ramble on about Sid Justice. Sigh.

_______________

This weekend I picked up the Road Warriors DVD for $20.

I also got a Best of the Steiners DVD for $10.

It has Scott/Muta, Steiners/Skyscrapers, Steiners/Doom, Steiners/Andersons, Steiners/Freebirds, Steiners/Nastys, Steiners/DeKlerk & Krueger, Steiners/Konnan & Mysterio, Steiners/Muta & Saito, Steiners/Hase & Sasaki, Steiners/Sting & Luger, Steiners/Chono & Hase, Steiners/Hase & Sasake rematch, Steiners Vs Fujinami & Izuka, Steiners Vs Doc & Gordy Clash, and Steiners Vs Bigelow & Vader.

Needless to say it is the greatest 2-disc set ever.

I've never heard of this? Who put it out and where can I get one?

Is that a comp, or was it a legit release?

Everyone here should buy this DVD, especially since it's only $10.xx right now at DDD because of their 20% sale going on right now (DVDTalk is one of the codes that work).

Saw the road warrior dvds; ecellent. Funny though, when they talk about how/why hawk died, even though they mentioned he became a born-again christian and had nothing in his system drug-wise, they never mention the #1 reason why his body gave out and he died: Heepings and heepings of steroids, I find it sadly funny how the documentary part is so focused on them in the gym and "benching 650 lbs " and how they never addressed steroids (especially since hawk numerous times had stated he didn't think steroids had any real side effects). It just sucks that even though he apparently turned his life around, they imply at the end he died because of drugs (not anabolic) and alcohol.

I picked it up at borders yesterday (for the ungodly price of 29.95) because as usual my circuity city didnt have new wwe dvds (all I saw there were wm xx, wm 21, and great american bash 04) and also cuz as usual my local target carries 0 wrestling dvds. probably should have order it at the site instead of paying what now 20 dollars more (w/ the 20 percent off gimmick), but what the hell, it all comes out in the wash with gas money, or bus fare or what have you. however borders didnt even have the 80s set, but they did have backlash 05.

I havent watched much of all yet, just the music video (great singing hawk and animal) and the first extra match (a total squash) But I like the menu with the LOD original WWF theme playing.

I believe all the NWA matches start with everyone in the ring, no intros. I was bummed that they didn't use "Iron Man" for any of those matches...that was what got the Roadies over with me as a little kid. It also led to me asking my dad about their theme song, which resulted in his pulling out the "Iron Man"/"Paranoid" single. I like to think that it was watching the Road Warriors that helped make me the kinda guy I am today. :headbang:

Only dissappointments are that thier are no easter eggs found yet and they have an interview from WrestleWar 90' but no match. It got me all excited that thiere was going to be a War Games match or thier match with the Skyscapers but to no avail.

Solid Thumbs Up though to anyone who likes classic wrestling

Alot was left out of this set such as the angle with Animal wearing the hockey mask and the feud vs the Powers of Pain and there is no 6 man tag matches or cage matches.

I laughed as well. I was wondering why theyd put a promo from that show on the disc then realized it was this promo. I remembered it, but not from what show.

Also to note that Hawk apprantly was the first person to refer to Billy Gunn as mr ass.

What's really different about this dvd and the matches as opposed to the other WWE superstar DVDs are that none of the matches go beyond 12-15 minutes aside from the Sting/Luger match which barely ticked over 16 minutes.

It shows how short and compact RW/LOD matches were and how smartly it was done to truly mask their limitations and showcase their dominance.

I realized this weekend why I don't own many wwe dvd's (the Flair one is the only one that I own) ... I went to 4 stores to buy this dvd, and couldn't find it anywhere. I figure I'll give it one more shot this weekend, and if I can't find it again ... no dice, I just won't bother with it and move on to some other frivolous dvd purchase.

I understand that, the only place I can actually consistently find the WWE dvds is at the overpriced stores like suncoast, sam goody, or borders. Best buy is usually pretty good too.

Clearly it's not 1998 anymore, when you could find a million things regarding the wwf or wcw at basically every store.

That's strange because Wal-Marts and Best Buys around here are stock piled with nearly every WWE DVD in the last 2 years. One Best Buy in particular have 3 sections specifically for WWE and 2 for UFC/PRIDE/King of the Cage...

It must have something to do with the location because I never had problems finding WWE DVD's except for the ECW dvd and that was because stores were sold out of them so quickly.

I was at a BBuy last Saturday, and they had about 20 of the Road Warriors DVD. I went back on Tuesday, and there were none in the section. There was still plenty of Judgement Day and Greatest Stars of the 80's, but no Road Warriors. I've been to two other BB's over the course of this week and have seen the same results

It seems impossible that all 25 copies could have sold in less than 2 days. Was this thing recalled or something? I can't find it anywhere.

A good dosage.

They spend about 15 minutes during the retrospective on their days in AWA.

and there's a couple AWA promos and 3 awa matches
