St. Gabe Posted June 23, 2005 Report Posted June 23, 2005 One of my favorites was Ninja Gaiden...not sure if it is considered bad though, I LOVED Dick Tracy for NES. And I KNOW that was bad. I really loved Caveman games for NES too. The Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball Game for SNES was always my absolute favorite, all the players except griffey had fake names, and you could rename them--me and my buddy used to name them after our little league team.

Coincidently, i'm playing Alex Kidd as we speak. And it's still one of the best games ever.

Eternal Champions - Genesis Crap, but despite the marketing campaign, that made you think it was an MK clone, it was unique in ways. The art style was kind of cool and the motions for special moves, the way chi was supposed to be limited (so you couldn't fire off specials constantly) were rather unique. Most people seem to praise the CD version, but I only played the Genesis version and thought it quite lame. Killer Instinct - SNES Killer Instinct Gold - N64 KI for SNES was fun, and I played a hell of a lot of it until I had beaten the game with every character and was able to pull off stuff like the Ultimates and Ultra combos. Good 1 player game, but not much fun as a 2-player competition. By the time KI Gold came out, the ship had long sailed. Not much was really added to the gameplay, and the awful animation, choppy feel, and controllers ill-suited for fighting kept me from getting the same enjoyment. Both are notable for their utterly cheeseball soundtracks. MK 1-3 - Genesis MK 4 - N64 IMO: 1. Interesting original project, massively popular, not the deepest game around. Genesis version was good for its time, but could have been better. 2. Great graphics, music, mood, gameplay system even with poor balance. Genesis version kinda blew though. 3. Attempts at innovation that were poorly implemented. Genny version was decent for 16 bits. 4. A huge stinking pile of rehashed crap, without a single original idea to be found anywhere within it. The N64 was a good translation, and the real-time cinemas were even funnier than the pre-rendered ones.

DrVenkman PhD Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 Back in the day my friends and I enjoyed playing the absolutely terrible Batman Forever games (both the SNES/Genesis versions and the arcade version home game). On a similar note, I guess "Batman Forever" would be a bad movie that I love. The PS1 game Evil Zone (I believe that was the name) was panned as awful but the story mode was so well produced - each character was a 10 episode anime - and unique I loved playing through as every character.

Man I loved that game. And I'll admit it - I was cheap with Titanic Tim. I'd just keep throwing the other guy into the ropes and massively slamming him on the rebound. Kabuki ruled, too.

But abowen33 who is a big gamer likes to make fun of me for those, so figured they were laughed at in the gaming community. My MK opinions 1- great idea, the actually game wasn't too good, but for it's time it was new and exciting. 2- Better characters, game play a little better. Genesis version murdered the SNES one, the blood was a little much though. 3- Looked great, some lame new characters, intro of combos. uppercuts through ceilling was lame. Game play much faster and smoother. 4. Looked decent. weapons were a good idea sometimes a little too much. bonebreakers were cool. LAMEST new characters. not much of game play, it was ok. This should have been way better than it was.

I just liked that you could "upgrade" your fighting moves. Most people think the game is pure trash and shut it off before making it through the first town. I played it through every town and even replayed it a few more times after that. I bought every move and cleared every house. The game really was cheesy but I liked it for some reason. Maybe because I was bored of River City Ransom when I started playing it.

Except for the fact that I was able to dominate by using the same pass play every time (in fact the best pass paly for me was the fake punt, meaning my punter threw alot of yardage and tds). The defense was ok and I liked the cheesy sound effects and taunts I still have it but its sorta broke (I must have dropped it hard). I can play exhibition but cant access the season.

"Black Turds!" I never got that last one. I think it's supossed to be "My Turf" or something. And a note about NBA action '95(could be '96), you could dribble down the floor, pump fake your guy at the 3-Point line, and then just keep dribbling. You can pump fake as many times as you want without a traveling call. It was great/horrible.

Hit n' Run is too repetitive and unpolished to be in the same league as the games its knocking off, but it's one of the best attempts at a Simpsons game ever. It's better than the show itself, at least. Road Rage I didn't care for. Virtual Bart sucked, but my cousin had it and loved it, and I got a little enjoyment out of messing around with it. The Arcade Game, though, was quite rad despite the repetitive gameplay.

I know I enjoyed many rehashed 2D side scrolling beat em up games on 8 and 16 bit systems, but I can't think of any specific names right now.
{''({o..o})''} Posted June 25, 2005 Report Posted June 25, 2005 The Simpsons Arcade game was the only beat 'em up at the local arcade after a foosball went through the screen of Golden Axe 2 (I wasn't involved) and they shipping out that double cabinet X-Men so I must've ended up beating it at least 10 times because I remember having a full screen of highscores under my name. Anyways, the Lethal Enforcers (both arcade and the snes versions, but more the later) were rather horrible but were fun when you played with both guns at once.
