The one & only OVW...errr, Smackdown thread.

Y'know, if everyone doesn't team up and eliminate Hussan at the beginning of the title match next week, I'll be very dissapointed.

Explain.

Or, if you already had, link to it. I'm interesting in hearing why.

It's very simple. I've seen it before. Lots of times before. Bad Eddie beats up Lil Rey and then Rey wins. Eddie, just because he's Eddie fuckin Guerrero, gets over with the fans as a heel, turns face, and he and Rey are "brothers" again. Why should I care? By 2006 they'll be buddies again and by 2007 Eddie will turn on Rey again. Great wrestling? Not better than HH97, so fuck it. Shocking twists and developments to freshen up a long-running program? Ha! It's HHH/Shawn Michaels, only it has been going on LONGER...much, MUCH, longer.

That, and I don't really care about either guy right now.

Unless they change it before Tuesday, yeah. They announced it as being elimination earlier in the show.

That last promo makes me think they're serious about introducing a new title.

Ridiculous.

Ok. Point. I still like it, but you do make a good point....

And am I wrong in saying that this was the best Eddie Guerrero match since Eddie/Brock at No Way Out.

Hey, Smackdown goes off and the first thing I hear is Jerry Lawler's name. He's on the local news. Someone threatened him over the phone or something.

Definitely one of Eddie's better matches in the WWE. Loved it.

You know, I wouldn't be surprised if we had a cruiserweight version of the '97 gang wars. We've got the Mexicans/Latinos, the Japanese (a traded Tajiri, Akio despite him being Korean I think, Funaki) and the two (heel and face) whities (Kidman, London, Moore, Scotty and a traded Helms). Nunzio is a jumper because he's a sneaky Italian (duh).

Yep, perfect.

I liked the Eddie/Rey match well enough. The only problem is that Rey went over. Just let Eddie win and move on already, even if it's not clean. Both of these guys really need something new to do.

I also liked the Mexicools, but I have a feeling they'll end up like the FBI. Psychosis needs to wear the mask too, because he is distractingly ugly. I did like the use of the flipping senton off the steps as a casual beatdown manuver.

The MNM/Heidenreich feud needs to end quickly. Unfortunately, I think they're lined up for a feud with the Bashams next.

The SD championship sounds very lame. At least it will give the main eventers some purpose.

Yes, I agree muchly. Drunken Psichosis was great. I love how he tried to take the mic away from Juventud only for Juvi to pull it back.

I think Psyc's ugliness may have something to do with those weird fake dreadlocks he was sporting - while he wasn't quite a bastion of studliness at ONS, he didn't make me actively think "Wow, that guy's ugly" like he did tonight.

I enjoyed Eddy vs. Rey despite the incredibly annoying (but unavoidable) commercial breaks.

Angle vs. Michaels II looks intriguing, but unless CM Punk shows up soon, sitting through Raw will continue to be a physical impossibility for me.

I actually do agree with RRR on Eddie/Rey. I don't get the point of constantly putting Rey over here, since Eddie can be a believable main eventer and Rey due to his size really can't get much further than US title level. What was the last match that Eddie even WON anyway? Of any kind?

It's almost made me want to see a no DQ type match where Eddie just kills Rey with all sorts of sick shit like "Here it is, motherfucker!"
