Danville_Wrestling 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2006 What do people think of the Neighborhoodie & Shad Gaspard training video? I laughed my ass off a good five minutes after seeing it. I didn't like the Deuce & Domino finishing move. Something is too individualistic about it for me to consider it a tag team finisher. Looked devastating, though. Alro 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2006 I'll be posting all the promos and other stuff once I get my tape issues worked out. It will probably be tomorrow before I get to it. I don't like Gaspard and the Hoodie, but it was a pretty funny video. Gaspard has a shot at being called up, but I don't think Hoodie will make it out of OVW. I've been capping Deep South Wrestling on CSS for the past few weeks for posting at The Sledgehammer. Would anybody be interested in me posting that here? It is nowhere near as entertaining as OVW is and I don't know how much longer I'll keep capping it, but if there is some interest I'll post it.

Gaspard has a shot at being called up, but I don't think Hoodie will make it out of OVW. Yea Gaspard has the look to get a decent shot in WWE. He needs a little more polishing but is better than Hoodie who I am not impressed with at all. I think the best part of the video was Gaspard robbing that coffee store or whatever with his OVW Southern Tag Team Championship belt around his waist. I think Cody Runnels has some potential and enjoyed his match more this week than last week. Overall, I like OVW more than RAW, Smackdown!, and ECW combined and they do a really good job booking a solid one hour show. I had my doubts about Greg Gagne booking the product but he has done a really good job so far in my eyes.

Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2006 It's odd, but Punk works so differently in OVW then he did in ROH and various indies. It's interesting to see Punk cutting himself down and being more crisp as opposed to his usual style. The pacing still needs work as he tends to work a match as if he's pacing for a broadway match when it ends up being 12 minutes. He'll get the hang of shortening his usual match length of 25-40 minutes to 8-15 minutes pretty soon.

It's sort of like Ricky Steamboat syndrome where he'd be in a 15 minute WWF TV match (vs. Rick Rude @ Royal Rumble 1988 on USA is a good example) but work the arm for about six or seven minutes in armdrags/armbars when he wasn't going to be having a 40 minute plus "classic." The match with Skyfire was the first match I have gotten to see out of Punk as I don't get OVW at college and didn't watch it when I returned home in May until last week. He'd be a welcome addition to the WWE roster right now so I don't know why he's still in OVW when guys like Chris Masters are fast tracked onto the main roster ASAP. Alro 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2006 Here is the rest of this weekend's OVW show. Promos & Interviews -Armando Alejandro Estrada run down Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom card -OVW Opening -Jerry "The King" Lawler Six Flags promo -Second vignette for unknown wrestler -Maria interviews Cody Runnels -Shad Gaspard & The Neighborhoodie's Training Video http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4O9L3U6Y Elijah Burke vs. The Miz http://www.megaupload.com/?d=33S3TBV3 Cody Runnels vs. Raul Locos http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KKRA6Y5R Estrada is gold on the mic. I've not seen him on RAW so I don't know how much they've toned him down. Runnels is a very sound wrestler, which means he'll be in OVW forever and will be released when creative can't come up with anything for him. I've not seen him in anything but squash matches, but he's impressed me in those. I'm interested to see what he can do with some of the more established and seasoned wrestlers. After I made the offer to upload DSW, I found out that my VCR didn't tape the show this week. I should have something next week, though.
Danville_Wrestling 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2006 I loved Estrada's "card subject to change" line in a smart ass voice at the end of his Spanish news desk segment this week when he ran down the July 28th "Kentuckos Kingdom" card.
Alro 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2006 This week's OVW TV: CM Punk & Seth Skyfire vs. Deuce & Domino http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SFEJ5W8M Cody Runnels vs. Kasey James http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0JC7HX71 TJ Dalton vs. Simon Dean http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GWUWD43Q Elijah Burke vs. Shawn Osborne http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MIIKEISH Charles Evans vs. Pat Buck http://www.megaupload.com/?d=99OHCG3P Promos & Interviews: -Interview with CM Punk & Seth Skyfire -Jerry "The King" Lawler interview -Six Flags Summer Sizzler Series promo -Man in the Woods -Spirit Squad's Johnny & Mikey speak to the lockerroom -Eugene interview -Maria interviews Al Snow -Simon Dean responds to Al Snow -Maria interviews Rob Conway -An announcement by OVW Owner Danny Davis http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BXH6UZWN Punk/Skyfire vs. Deuce & Domino is good. Both Punk and Skyfire get some good sequences in the opening part of the match. When Deuce and Domino made their debut, I thought their gimmick was stupid. The more I've seen of them, the more they have grown on me. I think they could be called up with their gimmick and be a good mid-card tag team (which is good, because that seems to be how tag teams are treated on the main roster). Cody Runnels continues to look pretty good. The Dean, Burke, and Evans matches are all squashes, though Dean uses an impressive finisher. As far as the promos go, I'm interested to see where this Danny Davis stuff goes.
Danville_Wrestling 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2006 I thought this weeks show was weak compared to the last two weeks but James-Runnels was good for a five minute match and the tag team match delivered so I can't complain too much. I hate to be picky but wasn't the winning pin in the tag match a double-pin? Sure, Skyfire had his hand on Deuce's body but his shoulders were also on the canvas when the referee counted three. I really want to see the debut of the masked character in the woods. Those "momma" bits crack me up. It's like a poor version of Mankind.

Alro 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2006 OVW TV for July 29, 2006 Matches: Part One (74.9 mb) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TMXW8CR6 Chad Hurts (Toland, I believe) vs. Boris Alexiev Serena vs. Melody Cody Runnels vs. Kasey James - 10 Minute Challenge Part Two (61.95 mb) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=603XVJC4 Brent Albright vs. John Bolen Chet the Jet vs. Mr. Strongko Deuce & Domino vs. Elijah Burke & Shawn Spears (the audio drops for about a minute in this match) If you thought last week's show was weak, wait til you see this one. Outside of the Al Snow promo (which is in part 2, I think), there was nothing worthwhile on this show. Things were set up for the final Six Flags show of the summer, but the rest was just filler. And if you didn't know Randy Orton was coming to Six Flags on August 11, then you will definately know it by the end of the show because they aired about 6 promos for it. All that being said, I'm considering going to the Six Flags show and using my digital camera to tape a few of the matches. I've got a discount ticket, so I won't be paing $40 for OVW. It will likely be a gametime decision, but this card has me more interested than any of the others. Apparently, this past Friday night at Six Flags, CM Punk and Seth Skyfire won the OVW Southern Tag Team Titles from Shad Gaspard and The Neighborhoodie. OVWrestling.com has not mentioned it, but I have heard that they will defend against Deuce & Domino next week.
Danville_Wrestling 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2006 Thanks for posting Alro. I didn't get to see the whole show this week b/c my brother screwed up the VCR when it was supposed to tape. If you could get some video of the Kingdom show that'd be awesome.
Alro 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2006 While OVW as a whole was better than it has been for the past few weeks, I'm not posting the whole show. I don't have the time to cap the whole thing. So you're getting two matches. 10 Man Gauntlet Match Brent Albright, T.J. Dalton, Vic Devine, John Bolen, Shawn Osbourne, Shawn Spears, Boris Alexiev, Mike Kruel, Eddie Cravens, and Charles Evans http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LX1DUISM OVW Southern Tag Team Title Match CM Punk & Seth Skyfire © vs. Deuce & Domino http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YQ00D64F The gauntlet match was very rushed. Some of the guys Albright beat I can believe he beat in such a short time. Alexiev's DQ was weak. I can't recall the last time somebody was disqualified because a manager pushed an opponent's feet off the ropes while the opponent was being pinned. I know they need to keep Alexiev looking strong, but that was so cheap. Evans should have won. He was fresh and he has been built up as a monster. I'm sure Albright will have a much better match with Orton at SFKK, but there was no reason for Evans to lose that match. The only saving grace was that he powered out of the crowbar. Punk/Skyfire vs. Deuce & Domino was a good tag match. I wish they would have mentioned something about Punk & Skyfire beating Gaspard & Neighborhoodie last week at SFKK for the titles, but we got nothing. If you don't follow results online or go to the Six Flags shows, you wouldn't have known what happened. It was a good tag match, though. With Punk looking to soon be full-time ECW, it looks like the seeds were planted for the Punk/Skyfire blow-off. I'm not wild about Skyfire being OVW champion, but other than Brent Albright, he's the only one built up enough the be believed as champion. Albright doesn't need another run with the title. Plus he's been regualted to midcard stuff since he was sent back down. The only other option I see is to let Charles Evans squash Punk. Evans is a hoss, but he's been built up well enough to look like an unstoppable monster so that when he does get beat, the guy who beats him will come out looking great. Guest Hotbutter Spoontoaster Report post Posted August 8, 2006 But I don't think Evans has a WWE/OVW contract. Skyfire will beat Punk for the Heavyweight Title.
Guest DRH 502 Report post Posted August 9, 2006 Nah the belt will go back to Albright as it well should.
Danville_Wrestling 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2006 I actually liked the gauntlet match for what it was. Would I have liked it to go longer? Sure, but with time constraints it had to be fast. I like PJ Dalton and don't know why they job him out. He's got that catchy theme music after all. I thought the match put over not only Evans a little bit since he was able to power out of Crowbar but also Shawn Spears since he pushed Albright to the limit moreso than anyone else in the match. I think Albright probably shouldn't have started at #1 and Evans should have plowed through more people first but it was what it was. It was also pretty cool to see Mike Cruel run in and blast Albright with a chair out of desperation to get a cheap elimination. I thought the tag title match was very well executed. It had a clean finish which put over Deuce & Domino as strong and had some good psychology as Deuce & Domino systematically wore down Punk and Skyfire to the point that they could not go anymore. THIS is a prototype for how to attempt to put a team over because it kept Punk/Skyfire strong as they kicked out of a ton of moves near the end until Punk eventually succombed at the end. What did everyone think about Jacob Duncan? I thought it was a well booked squash match and I think I'm going to enjoy this guy if they book him correctly. Maybe they should have him yell "momma" or something before his finishing move. Either way, pairing him with a really small guy like Lightfoot right out of the gate was a very smart move because it made Duncan look badass by comparison. I'd also rather see Albright as OVW Champ or even Evans. I just don't see Skyfire as champion material because (and I hate to say this) he's too small. I see him as a Johnny B. Badd type character that does cool moves but is only credible in the midcard with that TV championship belt. I see him as the next champ and I know he's over in OVW which works for him but for some reason I can't see him believably beating guys like Evans or Duncan in future title programs. Guest DRH 502 Report post Posted August 9, 2006 Thank you for saying it because I didn't want to be the asshole. Skyfire is a little bitty dude with a chest and no arms. Guest DRH 502 Report post Posted August 9, 2006 The man in the woods has been working the E-Town and Hodgenville house shows for a while now. The fans shit all over him. Alro 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2006 I'm a mark for Jack Bull. He's only been on TV once, but his segment was so ridiculous and over the top I couln't not like him. Right now I'm indifferent about Jacob Duncan. He hasn't done anything to interest me yet. I can't see Skyfire as OVW Champion for all the same reasons. He is too small. But like I said earlier,. I can't see Albright as champion right now, either. He's been back in OVW a month or so and hasn't so much as looked in the direction of CM Punk and the title. I'm sure booking has all been laid out for the title picture, but it wouldn't be too hard to throw Albright into the mix. He's still over with the Davis Arena crowd, but he hasn't been booked at a main event level and the way he has been booked has hurt him in my eyes. Evans has just been built up as such that he could be a credible champion. One guy I forgot about til just now is Shad Gaspard. He isn't a great worker or anything, but I can see him as champion. Put The Neighborhoodie in a lackey role and I think they might have something. As it stands right now, I plan to go to SFKK for the Summer Sizzler finale. I probably don't have enough memory to get the whole show, but I should be able to get the main matches. The Snow/Nova feud has really pulled me in and that will be one of the matches that definately gets recorded. As a note, this will be the first time I've recorded with this camera and I'll obviously be trying to keep low key since I'm sure recording isn't allowed, so don't expect any great camera work. Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2006 Gaspard and Hoodie look to be getting the call-up soon though, so I doubt Gaspard is who they're looking at as champion. Jacob Duncan is the character played by Ryan Wilson, aka Titus/Tryton, right? The character intrigues me a bit, but he's got a ways to go until he's not green anymore. Guest DRH 502 Report post Posted August 11, 2006 Gaspard definately has a presence to him. Its a shame Elijah Burke never got a title run. That dude had charisma out the ass. I loved seeing him at the live shows because he is just so energetic and its nice to see someone having so much fun doing what they love to do. CM Punk was THE reason for me to go to the few shows i've went to this year. I'm so happy for him to get called up (I've watched him since Ian was running shows in Charlestown) but so sad to know he is gonna be gone. Shelly is now THE reason to go to shows, god damn. I'm in love with her ass.
