AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2006 That would fit in with the "by Thanksgiving" date Nintendo announced long ago. I guess this means Twilight Princess isn't coming out any sooner than Nov though.
bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2006 have they settled on the specifics of the virtual console (pricing, what games will be available, etc) yet for the Wii? I'm not really interested in any of the games announced except for the usual Mario/Zelda, but the chance to play the SNES/N64 games without buying old nintendo systems is pretty cool. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2006 They haven't announced that. Based on past promises, I expect all first party NES, SNES, N64 stuff to be available, but based on the NES Classics series 3rd party titles can and will be available. Which Genesis and TG16 games will be out is a mystery (Bonk is a given, although aside from that what people want is Dracula X Rondo of Blood, which I have doubts will happen). They've been tight lipped on prices. The Wii itself is going to be "under $250." Tradition says $200 USD. Nintendo can well afford to charge more in Japan, though, because 360 is a nonfactor and DS Lite already has a higher price than US. I expect $200 USD and a bit more for Japan. Open the Muggy Gate 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2006 So is anyone here still gonna get a PS3 after all we've heard about it so far? Anyone?
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2006 Except for the "exclusive" Assassin's Creed (ha ha ha!), there's not a single PS3 property that I care about, so I'll pass until a good price and cheap/plentiful library comes.
Anya 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2006 So is anyone here still gonna get a PS3 after all we've heard about it so far? Anyone? Yes, I will get it and I am confident it will be the best. PS3 is still likely to be the most successful.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2006 So is anyone here still gonna get a PS3 after all we've heard about it so far? Anyone? No!!!!!!!!!! I will be happy with my 360 and Wii and I will laugh at anyone who tries to tell me that 600 dollars is worth it for the new PS3. Oh and RIDGGGGGGGGGE RACEEEEEEEEEER
bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2006 not until the PS3 slimline comes out I might pick up a Wii depending on how the Virtual Console works out, but it's a bit doubtful. I'm just going to spend time on my incredible backlog of ps2 games until ps3 gets a price drop, as I'm interested in FF13 and the new MGS.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2006 I think I might just go with the Wii...I'm digging the backwards compatibility and it's in a reasonable price range.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2006 Maybe in two years I'll get a PS3. I have no interest in the Wii since I hate Zelda and grew extremely tired of Mario. And the Xbox360 just hasn't impressed me one bit since it was released.
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2006 For me, it's Wii>>>360>>>PS3. Come to think of it, it was the same alst generation, but now the gap is even wider. I still plan to get all 3, when the price is right.
Guest Skironox Report post Posted July 5, 2006 History has shown us that with Sony, the first line of their newest systems out of the factory are always buggy pieces of crap that burn out after 6 months. Buying a PS3 at release is $600 flushed down the drain, imo. Theres absolutely no games that appeal to me, and I'm really quite satisfied with the lineup on the current generation of consoles. If anything I might get a used Gamecube or Wii and enjoy a bunch of games I've never had the chance to try.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2006 Plus remember that after 90 days, Sony's warranty expires. So it's either you get an extended warranty and pay even more, or hope Sony gets sued again. The Wii will likely have a 1 year warranty like Nintendo's other systems. The 360 unfortunately is 90 standard with an extended service plan for more $. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2006 Nintendo is going to *announce* the Wii info--price, release date, etc in September. I really hope that Virtual Console is stacked with 3rd Party stuff, including Castlevania 3. I picked up a Retrocon (a bootleg NES system), and like virtually every other NES knockoff, which is usually NOAC (NES on a Chip), it doesn't play Castlevania 3 due to the game's custom sound chip. Everything else seems to play beautifully (my NES kept crashing in games), and maybe I'll have to just settle for emulated CV3 on the PC, but it's still a fine little system. All I want for Virtual Console then--CV3 and Rondo of Blood Arranged.

I actually thought it came out late last year but there was NO promotion for it at all and I do believe the company who produced it wanted retailers to get pre-orders for it but retailers barely knew what it was since there was little to none promotion for it. It might have been cancelled but I can't remember.
Anya 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2006 Messiah came out years ago. Like 99-2001. It was by Shiny, the Earthworm Jim people. That was one of the last games Dave Perry hyped up before losing his credibility and fading into obscurity.

DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2006 I read an interview in EGM with a Sony rep (forget his name, but not Ken) stating "we've never been first to release our console", referring to the Xbox 360 being out a year prior to the PS3. Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the current (previous?) generation, wasn't the PS2 launched a year prior to the Xbox and GameCube? Should the fact the DC came out in 99 really count? It was not a factor in what is now just a 3 system race.
Anya 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2006 At the time PS2 came out DC was seen as a contender. Sega still tried. They just failed badly.
bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2006 I'm a coupla years late, but I finished FF10 today, and I loved it. The story was really solid, and ditching active time, showing all the turns, and letting you switch characters was a really nice move, so much so that it actually made me do a 180 from hating turn based battles to digging them. I'd say its right up there with VII as far as the 3D-era FFs go. My one and only gripe is the lack of a world map. You can still roam around to the various cities at the end via airship but I liked just roaming around the world and randomly going to whatever city i end up at. I believe this was another game that the "modern final fantasies suck long live SNES FFs" crowd shit on?? This just reminds me why I always tune out those folks when it comes to RPGs. LOVED it. Especially the ending. One other thing though, FFX-2 should totally have been a prequel about a young Auron. It just occured to me in Auron's last scene, that he is actually a bit of a badass and probably has tons of history. A prequel about Auron/Jecht/Braska coulda been pretty awesome. Anya 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2006 I love FF X. VII, VIII and X are my favorites. X might have my favorite overall cast in a game.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2006 I believe this was another game that the "modern final fantasies suck long live SNES FFs" crowd shit on?? No, that would be 7 or 8. That crowd pretty much didn't give a damn by the time X came around. One other thing though, FFX-2 should totally have been a prequel about a young Auron. That or not existed at all.
