Thanks for the "mini-review", clockworkraven. Too bad about the season sucking again, but at least they added enough to make up for it this time. Can't wait for GM Mode...

Felt like it, what can I say?

I just got much more pumped for the game...

BTW, anyone hear anything about HIAC matches? Any improvements like more space, weapons inside, and new roof? While the match was okay the past few games, it's in desperate need of a revamp.

There are a few videos of HIAC, aren't there? I haven't watched them specifically, but the cell in the video review seems about the same size, maybe a little more space outside the ring and a little taller. The breakable center panels are in again.

Looks like that (if you can see it, [click here if you can't) but with PS2-standard graphics and a few extra bits of metal around the roof.

Same here. I pre-ordered last week. When I tried to just pick up SVR last year on release day, the stores, with the exception of a few, ordered only enough copies for the pre-orders.

I still don't have a PS2 and can't afford one due to numerous other expenses. I also just bought 8 games recently at Toys R Us.

Still, I'm really tempted to trade in some Xbox and GameCube games for a PS2, this, and Guitar Hero.

I don't care if GamePro gave the game a sad man in a blue box or a guy with a static build up problem effecting his hair, they suck. They sucked a decade ago, they suck now, and they'll continue to suck until the game magazine business crumbles under the weight of the internet to the point only EGM remains (perhaps official company mags like NP, OPM, and the Xbox one as well).

The user ratings for the GamePro review average at 1.92. Nice.

The plethora of match types simply blur together as you find yourself constantly just staring at the screen, waiting for another fleeting moment of conditional control.

They have some sort of a small point there, though. Even if they do state it with incredible negativity.

To be fair, IGN has tended to be horrible at reviews, especially wrestling games. They overrate games A LOT.

Still, I'd expect this to be a solid 8-9/10 for wrestling fans, so I'm hopeful and confident that they got this one right.

Yeah. I don't think SVR last year even deserved anywhere in the 8 range because it was so disappointing because of the crappy Season mode, lacked the good features from HCTP (roster editing), weak roster, etc...

As for the "waiting for another fleeting moment of conditional control", did GamePro actually mean to say that there are too many menus to go through just to get into the in-match gameplay?

It seems like they were downing the reversal system, which was a problem for the last few games, where there would be several moments of just reversing..

I have a bad feeling about this game. They seem too keen on changing the formula and adding useless stuff to matches in place of delivering more content, like moves, CAW material, arena's, wrestlers and the like.

That's the feeling I had when I bought last year's game was that 'Well now I have it, whoopeee.' But that's because I had read people's thoughts on the game since I got it later in the afternoon. But '06 seems more complex with the stamina, and reversals system, Im looking forward to it

Same here. I'm psyched for it. I'm on the fence as far as the controls go, so until I play it, I can't say either way. But, if I could get used to the LOW engine, then I can get used to any tweaks they've made with this series.

As far as Season is concerned, I've already given up on it. My main motivation for the game is now exhibition title matches and GM Mode with friends.

One of the only reasons I'm buying this is the fact that Hassan and Daivari are on the roster. The other ones are that weapons are supposed to last longer, and GM Mode. S'it.

Personally I am pumped about this game. It's too bad season mode is still mostly linear but anything is better then the 100% linear seasons of DoR 1 and WM21... and even those weren't bad, they just lacked replayability. I am left wondering if the previously mentioned "altered by character" elements still exist in season mode though. I figure I'll spend a lot of time with GM Mode and exhibition matches (as usual) anyway.

One more week!

According to someone on GameFAQs who has it, Joe's Muscle Buster with the turnbuckle set up is in, as well as Paul London's Mushroom Stomp.

Excellent stuff. I cannot forgive a monster that preys on the hearts of those who enjoy playing a fun game, and this game looks pretty fun... EWR + Nostalgia = good times for those with pure hearts.

Reported new moves so far (on GameFaqs) Will keep updating as I see them.

A roll out seated dropkick

Muscle Buster from the Turnbuckle

The Mushroom Stomp

A new Chokeslam

A new Piledriver

A new DDT

A new RKO

Top rope German Suplex

Lionsault into a reverse DDT

Shuicide

Couple of new powerbombs.

New long Baldo Bomb type move

Lesnar's Fisherman thing is in there.

New Frankensteiner

Tigermask Sequence (Runs up them in the corner, slopily, then enziguri's them)

'Finishing Touch' (Start in a normal DDT instead of a reverse DDT and spin into a kinda bulldog).

Eddie's Senton

RVD's Rolling Thunder as a grapple.

'Drop Out' (start at the ropes on one side then throw the guy towards the other side and he slides on his chest and falls out the ring face first, hilarious!)

Crucifix Headscissors (Runs up like a Crucifix Pin, but then brings it around into a headscissors)

Couple of new Crusier Sequences

Loads of the top rope moves have 'Near' versions where you only jump a very short distance. With the elbow drop he kinda just steps off the buckle and lands it

New Ariel Moves: Standing:

Sheltons Diving Clothesline

A Diving Side Kick, hard to describe.

A Diving Crossbody that is kinda frog splash like. I think Orton does them like that.

New Ariel Moves: Opponent Down

Double Stomp! Hell yeah! It looks good.

New Double Team: Tag at the corner. Double elbow to take the oponent down and then one guy give the other a boost to do a standing moonsault onto him.

-2 Figure 4's: The new Ric Flair one and a new one which is the same as the new flair one but without the taunting

- New submissions, including: a ground head grapple fullnelson, new arm and leg locks, etc

- Eugene Dig In (Looks like a wedgie)

-Eugene Dog (Steiner-like dog headbutts + Peeing)

-Eugene Horse (Rides them around the ring slapping their ass)

-Eugene Leg Drop (Eugene does Hogan's legdrop. Loads of massive gestures, excellent)

-Eugene Punch (Tarzan chest beat -> Punch Combo ->Windup punch)

-Eugene Sledge Hammer (Eugene waves and does an axe handle from the top)

-Eugene Up (Eugene Hulks up, perfect animation)

-Eugene Whip (Eugene whips them, leapfrogs, then wraps himself up in a ball on the floor, opponent is confused, then Eugene throws them) - LADY OF THE LAKE!

-Eugene Elbow (See Leg Drop, but with the People's Elbow)

-Eugene Uppercut (Overdone European Uppercut)

-Military Drop: Corner Grapple

-Samoa Joe's Muscle Buster

Groggy on Ropes moves:

'Groin Shaker' - Atomic drops the opponent onto the top rope... Ouch.

'Slingshot Suplex' - Vertical Suplex where he bounces the opponent down onto the ropes and then completes the suplex.

'Springboard Back Elbow' - Tajiri's one... I think it was in the old games, but not from this position.

'Ground at Head' Grapple

Slingshot Elbow (He goes to the apron with the opponent down. Pulls back and jumps up and over, turning as he goes (kinda like a cartwheel). He then lands an elbow drop right next to the opponent. Looks very sweet.) - Sounds like an Austin Aries move

New Jericho Senton Splash. Crosses his arms as he falls back, looks great.

New flipping senton splash from standing too, kinda opens out in a half swanton.

MR PERFECT FLIP OVER NECK WHIP IS IN!!!! (YES! That move rules)

"New Move: Super Tornado Bomb (Lifts the opponent to the top rope, so he is facing outwards. Puts his arm between the opponent's legs and plants his hand on the opponents chest. He then throws the opponent off the buckle with a slam.")

Awesome news about AJ Style's DDT in, as well as the Lesnar stalling fisherman's buster.

What's the Shuicide?

What's the Shuicide?

According to GameFaqs "Shuicide is an Emerald Frosion where you drop them on the oposite side... Hard to explain, anyway: It is in."

Sounds like some neat moves added so far. Can never be enough of those for me.
