USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2005 Would you cheer for the Cubs if they were the best in MLB? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not with Baker managing. Thing is I wouldn't cheer for them necessarily. I'd be happy if they represented Chicago in a World Series. I'd also pull for them if it meant an El-Series (much like the Subway Series). MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2005 Gah! Eli Marrero hits one that bounces off the left field wall away from the LFer, and he had his mind up that he was going for the ITPHR, but he ran out of gas around 3rd and Young hit the relay perfectly. He should have been held up at 3rd with 2 outs..ugh.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2005 Oh my god. My jaw just literally dropped. That had to be one of the hardest hit linedrives off a pitcher I've ever seen.
King Kamala 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2005 Geez, I hope Matt Clement is alright. His eyes were open and he was moving his arms a bit when he was carried off the stretcher. But for a while he was out cold.
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2005 I heard on the YES Network that he was conscience, remembered what happened, and can move and everything. So good news.
treble 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2005 Apparently, the Jays could have Halladay back by the beginning of August, which would be less than a month after he broke his leg. He threw off the mound today and I guess he didn't show any ill effects. Awesome news, plus they killed the Angels tonight, to boot.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2005 Well, I haven't seen a pitch of the San Francisco-Cubs game tonight, but what I have seen is the Victory Auto Wreckers commercial. I forgot to tape it, Agent, I'm sorry. That old car might be worth money!
packwingfn 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2005 This has been one wild and crazy red sox-devil rays game. Hope Matt Clement will be alright.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2005 The Unit puts forth ace effort tonight, going 8 innings, allowing just 2 hits and striking out 11 Twins. He had a no-no through 5 1/3, Yanks win 4-0. This has been YOUR Yankee update of the night.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2005 Maddux is the first pitcher to amass >300 wins, <1000 walks, and 3000 strikeouts. Cool stuff. By my count, Lowry has thrown 46 pitches through two innings, so we should beat up their bullpen soon.

The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2005 Shit, it's raining yet again, after a 2.43 delay. Don't tell me this game ends up not being official.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2005 I wish the Cub hitters would understand that the wind blowing straight in at about 840 MPH is going to making hitting homers damn near impossible tonight. Congrats to Greg, too.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2005 The Orioles managed to win after blowing a 4-1 lead. The bats came alive tonight. I think thats pretty cool since July 26th is "Ask Why Not? Day" They need to trade/release Steve Kline immediately.
devo 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2005 Well, the Mets' offense regressed back to being completely pathetic. What's most frustrating is that Mike Cameron not only couldn't come through in two potentially game-winning situations, but that he struck out looking in both situations. Absolutely maddening. I just can't understand how they can score with ease at Shea in the last two series and then go to Colorado of all places and earn six runs over two games. Against lousy pitching, no less. The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2005 If Jose Macias pinch-hits for Maddux I'm gonna scream. EDIT: Phew. You see, Maddux only has 57 pitches through six, so I wanted him to remain in the game. Also, Macias is awful.
the max 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2005 Porter, it's best to not ask, just ignore Bob. Anywho, glad that Clement appears to be OK. It was nasty to watch, especially since the ball landed all the way in left field. And the Red Sox won the game to boot, which is always nice. Schilling seems to be struggling in the pen, hopefully he comes around soon...
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2005 I was just reading on how much Cecil Fielder screwed his family with his gambling. Hopefully for them Prince Fielder becomes a succesful big leaguer.

You see, Maddux only has 57 pitches through six, so I wanted him to remain in the game. Also, Macias is awful. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He sure struggled in the seventh, though. I swear to god, the Cubs can't ever have a 1-2-3 top of the seventh in Wrigley.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2005 No they cannot. So yeah Aramis should homer right now.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2005 They should just forfeit any game where the wind's blowing in. It's not like they're facing great pitching or anything. You don't pay much attention to it when they're teeing off, but games like this, where their cleanup hitter can't get a run in from third with one out, it's quite maddening. Especially with the Astros winning and the Cards on their way.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2005 Unless Korey Patterson did a run-in and knocked Hairston out with a bat (after a couple of swing and misses, of course), there's no reason for him to be out when it's likely he'll get at least another plate appearance tonight.
