Bret Hart meeting WWE

Recommended Posts

It would seem, remember he was doing that Aladdin play?

Yeah...he did, he can's in better shape than my mom, then, and she had a stroke 10 years ago

Proof I'm not totally off my rocker

Did anyone manage to go see that? I so wanted to make a road trip to Tornonto for it. Was it a musical? I haven't heard Bret sing since Wrestlemania: The Album.

...Wow...

That's all I can say.

EDIT - I mean...I've been trying for fifteen minutes trying to figure out something to say.

That is just simply awesome.

Heres to Bret being in the HOF and at Wrestlemania 22 next year.

The prodigal son has returned. They have to be very careful how they handle this when it comes to the HOF. I don't want something stupid like Michaels doing a Huckster type skit on Bret.

It'll probably be handled the same as Hogan was. The central piece of the HOF group with the hype really pushed for it.

I'd like to think it would be handled with class.

The question now is, who inducts Bret?

one of his sons? Jim Neidhart? Benoit?

1 OF 2

Bret Harts return to the WWE (all theory, here... he's had meetings with the WWE on numerous occasions mainly dealing with books and dvds, not storylines) is like the holy grail of booking.  And I'm talking "Indiana Jones and the Last Cruisade" holy grail - as in if you make the wrong step, you end up with a spear in ya or something, or if you drink from the wrong cup you melt (ok, its been a while since I've seen it).  It's such a sensitive issue where you can't just bring him out as a surprise - because you can make more money announcing it before hand.  However if you DO announce it before hand, it will take away from the moment.

It would be the greatest moment ever.

I'm 100% in agreement KNK.

Bret should try to get some quality control over his DVD release and it wouldn't kill him to be inducted into their Hall of Shame..err..I mean Fame. However, even though the landscape of WWE right now is paved with pure shit from top to bottom, I have no desire to see Bret come back into any of the storylines this creative team has come up with or could come up with.

Just do your goodbye and call it a day, Bret. For your sakes. Fuck everyone else's.

Cant they just like dedicate an episode of RAW to him, like this is your life?

WWE.com has Dusty Rhodes at WWE Headquarters as well...

Who gives a shit.

Hopefully he get's them to change that horrible title to something he'd rather be remembered for.

My suggestions-

"Bret Hart:The Best There Ever Was"

"Bret Hart:Excellence of Execution"

I love those. I really do. Or Bret Hart: The Hits but that sounds like Foleys. The Best There Ever Is you mean.

The impact of Montreal cannot over overstated. While Vince was indeed good at playing a heel, it was Montreal that really made the Vince heel character work, because it played off of a real life occurance, and not just another wrestling angle. Austin v McMahon would have done well without Montreal, but it did far more well with it than it would have without it.

Your damn skippy.

They have just announced that Bret was offered a drink and he said yes.  It is unknown at this time what the drink is, but it is suspected to be some sort of cola.  Pepsi or Coke, perhaps.

Dont degrad this moment.

They are now reporting that Bret has mentioned how much he can't wait to see Deuce Bigalow 2.

That applies to you too.

I imagine, at this point in time, Vince would do it himself if it meant Bret would return.

Now thats funny.

2 OF 2

vs. Bulldog from Summerslam 92 and vs. HBK from Survivor Series 97 are both on Best of Confidential, vs. HBK from WM XII is on From the Vault: HBK, and the Owen Hart tribute is on Benoit's DVD set.

I dont give a fuck where theyve been, they have to be on Brets DVD, along with WMXIII

And I hope whoever it was that said Montreal was a work was joking.

Ban him goddammit, if your insane your not allowed to post on a forum  board.

For what it's worth, there's talk that Bret may be the special guest referee for Hogan vs. HBK at SummerSlam.

And where did you get this nugget of crap from?

We heard comments that there disagreements over the content of the DVD (Bret wanted match selection), how to promote it, If Bret would appear again on air.

I believe that primarily the reasoning was Bret seeing this as his last chance to do this DVD his way since Vince can do whatever he wants with the library.  However Vince wanted Bret to be a part of this.

I hope Bret is involved in match selection.

I thought Bret owned his back catelogue due to his mega contract.

Hopefully, part of the deal made included Bret getting access to his photo gallery for his book.  :)

Yes, hope so too.

Well then let's all hope to God right now that Meltzer is right.

Do the DVD. Get in the Hall. Have a nice life. It's all I ask from Bret.

Couldnt he appear at WMXXII and the RAW after, to finally say goodbye? :(

Maybe Shawn will induct Bret into the HOF and half way through the ceremony Earl Hebner inducts Shawn instead.

Your pushing it.

They better have sat him down in a booth and had him go over some of his matches.  Bret Hart audio commentary would be the shit.  The guy has a great memory and a great mind for wrestling, and as long as the don't Grisham him, it'd be great.

Bret doing play by play and his opponent doing colour would be awesome.

It'll probably be handled the same as Hogan was. The central piece of the HOF group with the hype really pushed for it.

I'd like to think it would be handled with class.

I hope so too. He deserves it. I would say Benoit too. Makes sense. I think Bret would mention Owen and DBS, like Heenan did 2 years ago.

You said it yourself, Choice #2 (cause you see..."Who inducts Bret"...I'm gonna duck now...)

Didnt KNK say that?

Oops...must have been sloppy with my quote copying and pasting. Sorry!

On a serious note concerning this topic, I'm happy if Bret gets the DVD he wants and if he gets a fair chance to not have to be angry forever. Oddly, I know too well about not letting go if/when someone has done me or one of my friends wrong; as such, I know it's a bitch to feel that way. So good for Bret if he looked for and will get the closure he desires. Hopefully that is still important to him...he should not = nothing more than another Sable.

How long until Hart shows up on TV and "passes the torch" to Hunter by calling him "The best there is, best there was, and best there ever will be."?

And in that pic, Bret looks like nobody's home and Vince looks like the devil who just tricked some poor guy into selling his soul.

This is from the 8/8 Wrestling Obsever Newletter:

As is well known, WWE will be releasing a likely three-disc DVD in November on Bret Hart’s career, and wants to induct him in it’s Hall of Fame at Wrestlemania in Chicago. The company would also like to get him back on television in a very limited capacity to help push the DVD, there is a very good chance his work in doing the DVD will also be taped before you are reading this.

Since Hart was fired from WCW, there have been numerous attempts at doing a business reconciliation and attempting to mend fences. All are documented, the most notable being an attempt to get Hart to referee the 2002 Wrestlemania title match with HHH vs. Chris Jericho in Toronto, and ideas floated to possibly appear at several different WWE tapings in Canada, as well as an open invitation for him to appear for an interview at a Madison Square Garden TV taping.

It is doubtful that anything past an appearance on the DVD would be finalized, but if things don’t fall apart, doors would be left open for future projects, including Wrestlemania. There is no way, due to the stroke and his career ending concussion, that Hart would even consider wrestling again. Kurt Angle made a strong play in 2004 to try and get him to do one last match at Wrestlemania XX, but Hart never considered it.

According to those very close to the situation, Hart is proud that he has never gone back, but after the stroke and the death of his brother, the Montreal incident is no longer a major deal to him and he’s looking for some kind of closure.

At the same time, the DVD would be the modernized version of the “Bret Hart anthology” idea, with them airing his most famous matches and providing background commentary, that he and McMahon had agreed to do in 1997, and fell apart in the wake of their falling out. As funny as this sounds because of the irony, WWE is said to be offering Hart creative control on the DVD to get his involvement. It’s unknown if any other wrestlers, most notably Hulk Hogan, has ever gotten such a stipulation in the DVD.

The company had already scripted an outline of a career storyline for Hart, as well as did interviews with many different people in the company, for the DVD. While not confirmed, one would suspect that Shawn Michaels, and likely HHH, would be speaking on the DVD. There is no word on whether Ric Flair would be part of the DVD. One would suspect he would be if wasn’t involved. The guess would be very strong he wouldn’t be with Hart involved in the project.

It is believed with Hart involved, the DVD will be called something closer to “The Bret Hart Story: The Best There Is, The Best There Was, The Best There Ever Will Be.” WWE’s idea, as already released, was to call it “Screwed: The Bret Hart Story.” Hart was always negative to overplaying Montreal as the focal point of his DVD.

By the title, it’s clear WWE’s vision of the project was to build it around Montreal as the selling point and the focal point, with numerous WWE personalities giving their side of the story. Hart, perhaps reluctantly, no doubt does recognize a DVD on his career, like it or not, has to address the situation in some format. But it’s clear he didn’t want to turn it into a debate, with both sides recruiting people to stand behind them.

As noted before, WWE’s explanation is that Vince McMahon believed Bret Hart was going to Nitro in Memphis the day after Survivor Series, while holding the WWF championship. It has become the readily accepted company story, that McMahon and Bischoff were so consumed by each other, that it led to McMahon truly believing it was likely to happen. Even in these negotiations, Vince has claimed that as his motivation, and tried to blame Bischoff for their initial problems. Harts arguments against this, aside from the fact he knows and time has proved it was never going to happen, is his belief that McMahon had to know full well that there was no way it could happen, even if Bischoff wanted it to.

I wouldn't mind seeing HHH or HBK talk in the main feature, limited to a minute or two. Negative or positive, it could be interesting. You have to assume others will be speaking for a minute or two about Bret, likely Benoit, Jericho, and maybe even Taker (although it would be odd given the character).

If Bret is inducted into next year's HOF, I'd love to see Austin induct him.

I really doubt Shawn would be saying anything negative considering how he put Bret over on his DVD. If it's about Montreal, he might just say he had a job to do and he did it like he always says.

Add Angle, McMahon and Austin to that list too. Possibly even Lance Storm, JR, Hogan and Bischoff.

If it was WMXXIII, Id say yes. Otherwise, Benoit.

For a WM moment, have Goldberg tied up in the ring, fans throw shit at him and Bret nails him with a chair. SOB.

Why in the hell do we need to have HHH shove his face into this DVD too?

I know how you feel. I really don't care for the opinion of Triple H and I don't see what relevance he has to his career. Sure, he was involved in Montreal but he was only Michaels lackey at the time and was probably just doing as was told.

I think he was going for significance of what happened the last time Bret wrestled at Mania, which happened to be at that very arena and city.

It's known they are very close friends and I'd think WWE would rather have Austin induct Bret rather then Benoit.

Ahhhh, forgot that WMXIII was in Chicago. :bonk:

Nor that they are close freinds. I thought they would have fallen out after Montreal.

The only reason I can see the WWE prefering it though is because Austin is a bigger name.

Fuck that. It better be Benoit. Bret loves Benoit to death and Benoit has been seen on WWF/E TV pimping the Dungeon/Hart connection (like that time when Stu Hart was in the building and Benoit went over to him and embraced him or something with Jericho playing along). Benoit is the most logical choice.
