pochorenella Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 And I hope whoever it was that said Montreal was a work was joking. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, it was a joke. It's just that a couple of days ago I was reading this article on 411mania.com and they make some interesting points that make that "theory" maybe just a bit plausible. Not saying you should all believe it or anything but at the very least it makes for interesting discussion. And it has nothing to do whatsoever with Bret's feelings on Vince regarding his brother Owen.
Black Lushus Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 didn't he also hate McMahon over the whole Owen thing...let's set Montreal aside for a second...now all of sudden he's taking back all that he said in regards to his dead brother as well? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> However Bret feels about the part Vince played in Owen's death, I'm sure he has long since stopped hating Vince over it, just as he has stopped hating Vince over Montreal. This doesn't change how Bret feels about Vince's role in Owen's death, Bret has just moved on from the hate, which is a good thing, because keeping hold of hate for so long is not healthy. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> oh no doubt at all on the bolded line there...it just seems like he was so venemous and spiteful over THAT whole deal, then factor in Montreal and I was under the impression that this would be one grudge he would hold forever and ever...

I don't believe it was so much a Money issue, I'd like to believe he's doing well for himself, I really believe it was a case of Bret once again paranoid about his legacy.
Black Lushus Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 don't get me wrong here guys, I'm glad that he's making ammends, but I can't help but think back to how venemous he was concerning Vince...the things he said he wanted to do to Vince...that picture just seems so crazy to me after all of that...but I guess sometimes you swallow all the bitterness and pride and do what you have to do...
Guest rawmvp Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 I thought Bret cut his hair really short, but when I looked closely at a another pic on WWE.com, it looked like Bret was wearing some sort of dorky cap on his head...
Guest *KNK* Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 I can't fathom Bret without the long hair. I haven't recovered from Nash's haircut yet
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 don't get me wrong here guys, I'm glad that he's making ammends, but I can't help but think back to how venemous he was concerning Vince...the things he said he wanted to do to Vince...that picture just seems so crazy to me after all of that...but I guess sometimes you swallow all the bitterness and pride and do what you have to do... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hate usually fades over time. Not to mention that Bret realised that it really is pointless holding onto that kind of rage for so long. If Bret and Vince really have made amends, even if is just for a business project, then that's a good thing. Both men have made it clear how they feel in regard to what has gone down between them, they've talked things over, and have at least come to an agreement on how to handle Montreal, at least as part of the DVD project.
Guest rawmvp Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 For what it's worth, there's talk that Bret may be the special guest referee for Hogan vs. HBK at SummerSlam.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 Which would be incredibly stupid and pointless.
Guest *KNK* Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 What do you think Bret's terms to the deal were? Obviously he wasn't holding out for money for this DVD, there were always talks about this DVD dating back to when they first met each other some years ago. We heard comments that there disagreements over the content of the DVD (Bret wanted match selection), how to promote it, If Bret would appear again on air. I'm just curious, Do you believe Vince finally gave into Bret's wants or vice versa? I believe that primarily the reasoning was Bret seeing this as his last chance to do this DVD his way since Vince can do whatever he wants with the library. However Vince wanted Bret to be a part of this. If he wanted to make an easy buck, they would have done the DVD already.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 I think Bret just wanted to be able to give his side of Montreal. All we've ever heard about it on WWE tv is the Vince version of what happened. Bret just wanted to be able to give his side of things on a WWE forum.
Guest *KNK* Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 For what it's worth, there's talk that Bret may be the special guest referee for Hogan vs. HBK at SummerSlam. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There's zero "talks". It's idle fantasy booking wishes from the usual idiots who believe Bret's only value would be involved with Shawn now that he has turned heel. If they do give into the tempation and do a Bret/Shawn program (which would really be a waste of time, seeing as Bret can't work anymore, thus = no true blowoff), why waste it on SummerSlam when Hogan/HBK is already an alleged draw on it's own. Bret shouldn't be involved in WWE angles anymore. Do the interviews on WWE.COM, shoot the interviews for the DVD and leave it at that. Don't appear on WWE television unless it's for the HOF.
algrim Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 Hopefully, part of the deal made included Bret getting access to his photo gallery for his book.
Guest rawmvp Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 Meltzer just said that there will be no TV angles involving Bret.
Guest jackie fargo Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 Meltzer just said that there will be no TV angles involving Bret. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Meltzer has been wrong more times in the last year for someone who supposedly is in the "know".. He constantly is making statements that turn out to be wrong- the fact is, he doesn't know if Bret will make a TV appearance, I bet he's on before the year is out in some capacity..
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 Can you keep to trolling just WC?

Do the DVD. Get in the Hall. Have a nice life. It's all I ask from Bret.
Epic Reine Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 I expect Bret to be in the 2006 HOF and have some kind of confrontation with HBK at WM that the WWE will advertise like Austin on Piper's Pit this year...

I don't see him doing any kind of angle with Shawn.
Dobbs 3K Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 Personally, I'm doubting we'll see Bret on TV in anything more than a short interview segment to hype the DVD. It's not like he's going to be getting in the ring or managing someone, etc.
Guest jumpingbombangel Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 Seeing Bret and Vince together again just beats all. I've learned to never say never in wrestling and this is the most absolute of reasons why. I'm glad he gets to speak his side now. It's about time.
RavishingRickRudo Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 Maybe Shawn will induct Bret into the HOF and half way through the ceremony Earl Hebner inducts Shawn instead.
Epic Reine Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 Honestly, after the Matt/Edge thing, I can't believe you guys would rule out a Bret/Shawn confrontation. If the price is right then it WILL happen. Montreal was years ago and HBK is a changed man now. I'm not saying that Bret and Shawn should live and let die and just become friends but I can't think of a good reason why both men wouldn't coexist and make good money with this big cash segment and help the company pull in a decent buyrate.
RavishingRickRudo Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 Well, Bret thinks Shawn being "changed" is complete bullshit, for one.
Darthtiki Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 They appear to be in the WWE studios, I wonder if they did a sit down piece for the dvd? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That idea smells of the Dave Mustaine/Metallica sit down from "Some Kind of Monster"
Guest Brian Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 Maybe Shawn will induct Bret into the HOF and half way through the ceremony Earl Hebner inducts Shawn instead. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh man...
RavishingRickRudo Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 They better have sat him down in a booth and had him go over some of his matches. Bret Hart audio commentary would be the shit. The guy has a great memory and a great mind for wrestling, and as long as the don't Grisham him, it'd be great.
