Jeff Hardy coming back; plus Internet DREAM match

Jeff Hardy Suspension Lifted, "Internet Dream Match" Announced News

August 5th, 2005 18:38

TNAwrestling.com learned on Friday afternoon that TNA management has lifted their suspension on “The Charismatic Enigma” Jeff Hardy, which resulted from Hardy’s failure to appear at May’s “Hard Justice” event.

According to TNA management, Hardy has been informed of the decision and that he is expected to appear at the Sunday, August 14 “Sacrifice” Pay-Per-View. Once more information is available, we will post it here on TNAwrestling.com first.

In addition, we’ve learned that starting this Monday on the website there will be a special vote by fans for an “Internet Dream Match” to determine The Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels’ opponent at “Sacrifice”. Fans will have the opportunity to select one of several independent wrestling stars, with the winner facing Daniels next Sunday, August 14 on Pay-Per-View in an X Division non-title match. TNAwrestling.com will release the names along with the official vote this Monday afternoon on the website.

PWI says voting will be legit.

Jeff Hardy is a coked out spot-monkey has been, who cares. The guy has nothing to offer the wrestling community anymore, he lacks the crisp, clean, practiced ease of superior athletes like AJ Styles and Low Ki, and never had the truly innovative offense of just about all of the top indy stars. Hardy is a TNA piss break.

TNA is just so awesome, for every goof they make (i.e. allowing Jeff Jarrett to be in main events) they do something cool like this. I remember WCW in 2000 did a Nitro where fans could vote on who would get a World title shot in the main event of the show (I can't remember who the champ was probably Steiner or Booker), and throughout the show they were doing updates and it was legit and there was a groundswell on Lance Storm's website to get him to win. Sting ended up winning which was obvious but Storm was second and almost won the thing.

Anyway, back to this, this is a cool idea. Who do you think some of the "indy superstars" will be? How many aren't with TNA already? I guess CM Punk is out.

I actually just put that Nitro on DVD a few weeks ago.

As for Hardy, a Moore/Hardy team would be good and give both something to do. Plus Shannon would get some rub from being with Jeff, who has "mark credibility".

I'd like to see Danielson or Homicide vs. Daniels. I still think Homicide should come here, because he'd get over in no time.

I remember the Nitro voting too. Vampiro got 3rd IIRC.

The lack of Homicide in TNA is mind boggling, but I don't expect him in this.  My guess is Austin Aries will be in the poll, and maybe Roderick Strong.

That's interesting you should mention Austin Aries. Don West in an interview recently was asked who he'd like to see come to TNA and his answer was Austin Aries and the Dudleys (say what you will about him but at least he has more wrestling knowledge than all the WWE's B guys combined). And of course his broadcast partner, Mike Tenay is on the booking committee so I wouldn't be shocked to see Aries brought in.

I agree about Homicide. He'd have to tone down his act and interviews a bit to fly on a national television show but he'd be a blast as a top heel challenging Raven.

The Daniels thing is intriguing.

I'll bet that Roderick Strong will be on the list as he has worked TNA before (and I think he lives in Florida if I'm not mistaken). Austin Aries should be on there too since I've read somewhere sometimes (I'll be as vague as possible since I can't credit a source or anything) that TNA was interested in him. It's kind of hard to figure out how they'll do this legit since they'll need to have a handful of guys cleared to work that day...with no guarantee of using them.

It's a cool idea anyway.

Oh...and a big second to why the hell TNA hasn't used Homicide.

I'll bet that Jay Lethal will be on the ballot, along with Austin Aries and Roderick Strong, as mentioned in this thread.

I have no real problem with Hardy coming back. I'd rather him not, of course, but he has both name value and doesn't have the stigma of Gunn and James as a WWE reject.

TNA is smart to do this with Daniels. Everything they're doing right now means shit come October, so they might as well work the Internet crowd.

No Liger?

IIRC, they couldn't get Liger last time they tried, but I think it was only due to his already being booked.

We know it's not Noble or Spanky anymore.

I'd say Aries, Strong, AmDrag, and two others. As much as ROH pushes Lethal and he's definitely making a name for himself, I can't see him on the ballot, unless maybe Joe put a word in for him.

I don't think any of the WWE guys opted out of their severance pay, so I doubt it'll be Kidman or Moore, although both are possible (Moore especially, since he knows he's "in".)

Your answer:

Of course, if he can make it, yes, add him to the list. Add Ultimo then too.

I get confused, is it Lyger or Liger? Jushin or Jushyn?

I believe Liger turned it down because TNA wanted to bring him in just for an X-Division Battle Royal and he would get tossed out, and also because TNA wanted Liger to pay his own trans.

Thanks. I knew it was something more serious.

The fact that it's non title on PPV catches my attention... this could mean whoever wins the voting might be winning at the PPV? It'd be quite a debut for Moore or Kidman should it be them, and Daniels could certainly make a new X division star with a great match.

Whoever it winds up being, I don't think they should win. They are building Daniels up for someone to beat for the X Division title, so that should be how he suffers his first big singles loss, and not losing to some outsider who, if this really is legit, might not even want to stick around for long.

I agree, when it comes, and Id prefer it to be later rather than sooner, it should be Joe, since they have done an excellent job with him.

Whoever it is won't win, but will look very good in defeat. Making it non-title makes it a bit more exciting and unpredictable. I think in the end Aries will be on the poll, and he will win, since TNA fans at their board have been clamoring for him in TNA. Plus he has pretty good name recognition among smart fans. Aries could look great in defeat and really win everyone over.

This is what I'm wondering about here. Do they have a bunch new indy workers signed? I don't see how they can do this if they don't. I think they have signed some people because TNA can't risk having somebody on the list be unavailable.

They can also promise all the indy guys a spot on the show. For example, if there are 5 guys in the poll, they could throw the other 4 into a 4-way early in the card.

Actually, since they brought him in once, one wonders if L.A. Park might be a possibility. That'd be really fun, especially Daniels' reaction

The only way TNA generally gets buzz is when they put on a fantastic ****+ match, so as much as L.A. Park coming back would rule, it won't happen at this PPV.

I wish TNA would strike a deal for the temporary rights to the La Parka name, and then bring him in, even if it's as an X-Division comedy jobber.

God, I'd love for Parka / Park to be signed by TNA. That really needs to happen before they get on TV.
