Masked Man of Mystery 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2005 I didn't get into the Grateful Dead until this year when I found the live music section of archive.org and downloaded a few shows. It always sounds like they were having a great time, and I enjoy jamming out to them. Anybody else want to say anything? By the way, you can download Jerry's last concert off of archive.org for free and completely legally here
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2005 I was never a huge Deadhead but was big into Phish. I went to school with a ton of Deadheads (Colorado will do that to you) and the two groups of fans kind of had a joking rivalry, so we threw a Grateful He's Dead party and dressed up like stereotypical old-school hippies and played only the worst possible GD songs & shows. Yeah, in retrospect it was kind of classless, but this was a town that people hung giant memorials with painted signs and murals and shit. Something had to be done. Having said that, though, I saw JGB in San Francisco and found it to have the genuinely nicest, most willing to share fans of any show I've ever been to. B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2005 I've never really been too into the Dead, though I like some of their stuff. "Mexicali Blues" and "Uncle John's Band" would probably be my favourite tracks. I did have the chance to go to their final show in Chicago in '95 with my old neighbour, but turned it down. C Dubya 04 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2005 Always really enjoyed the Dead (mom listened a bit, so I got exposed at an early age). I remember this day 10 years ago, similar to how I remember Cobain. I was in a small record shop in my hometown buying some stuff when the store owner asked me what I thought about it. I was pretty much floored. While your searching around on archive and in a GD mood, check out the Phil Lesh and Friends section. He put up some great soundboards on there. snuffbox 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2005 I got to see The Dead three times last summer...it was an awesome experience each time, but obviously not the same as what people got back in the day. I dont really have any memories of Jerry...just a deep wish to have been able to see him play live. Also, I think its awesome that the remaining members have continued playing...I cant imagine Jerry Garcia wouldve wanted anyting different.

Toshiaki Koala 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2005 Not a big fan of his music, but it always annoyed me how Peace the Beanie Baby was really just the Garcia Beanie with an added peace sign on his chest. A little more effort would be appreciated, Ty!
