I'm not sure how much attention this is getting across the country but Toronto is currently racking up some serious numbers in the gun deaths category. It's bested 2004's total already and it's only August. Things are getting pretty fucked up, there's a story on The Toronto Star's site about a black city counsellor who thinks that police should intentionally target black youth when out on patrol. The chief is new to the job and already has been left with a mess that Julian Fantino did very little to curb. Kids are wearing shirts that stay "Stop Snitching". The fuck happened?

I remember hearing that Toronto on average has about 50-60 gun deaths a year.

 

Detroit has about 2000. I don't know if those are completely accurate, but if it's anywhere close, fuck.

Not even close. I think the only thing that is shocking people is how close in time that all the shootings are happening. If they were spread out over the entire year, then it would be another thing. This is all happening within the span of a month or so.. =\

Toronto has 2,518,772. The GTA has another 2.5 million or so, but it isn't accurate to put it in with the city itself. Would you consider Oshawa to be a part of Toronto?
