Jorge Sosa! He's usually done after 5 innings, sometimes 6. Today its 8 strong shutout innings against the Nationals. Atlanta wins 4-0 and Andruw hits his 47th homerun of the season to tie the Braves franchise season record I think. Amazing. Three more and he'll have 300 for his career. I remember during the off season noticing that he was at 250 and thinking to myself if he hit 50 this season he could get to 300 on his career, but of course he wouldn't even come close. How wrong I was.

Andruw just crushed homerun 48 to set a new Braves single season record. Huzzah. I'm hoping he can get two more this season as I've always wanted to see a Brave hit 50.

Wakefield has struck out 12 Yankees in 6 innings.

edit: Mo vs Ortiz, runner on 1st 2 outs in the 8th. I have a terrible feeling about this.

Edit2: Yankees walk Ortiz, 11 months too late.

Edit3: And Mo throws 40 pitches before K'ing Olerud.

The bullpen blows a big lead against the Nationals for the 3rd time in just over a week. Lovely.

If it were possible I'd say Guzman just because he's god awful at the plate and that'd be the most painful way to lose, but thankfully he can't win it himself.

Strike 3 and Kyle Farnsworth continues to amaze. It's sad he'll leave as a free agent in the off season but considering how bad most of the bullpen is he was worth whatever we gave up for just half a season. 48 and 49 for Andruw. I think his batting average is going to keep him from getting the MVP award, but damn if he isn't having an MVP type season.

JONES! ahhhhhhhhhhh. saviors of the universe

Yankees take 2 out of 3, now two back in the East.  Great to see RJ step up against the hated enemy!

You guys are three back.

that's what I meant ;)

Pretty much even all things considered. Boston has to play 4 against Oakland, but NY sucks against Tampa. 8 games against Baltimore jumps out at me, we should win at least 6 and ideally sweep both considering Baltimore looks to have packed it up this year.

I just looked at the standings, and if the Indians win, which the will because they never lose anymore, they'll be 5.5 behind the White Sox, only 5 in the loss column. They have 6 games remaining between each other, and with the way the Indians are playing, who knows. I hope they do it, so the Sox actually care when they play the tribe to end the year.

Andruw Jones is having a nice season, but I can't see him as the MVP. Albert Pujols has more runs, more hits, more doubles, more walks, less strikeouts, a higher batting average, a higher on base percentage, and a higher slugging percentage. Value? The Cards are 91-53 despite losing their all-star third baseman for the season, and both corner outfielders for significant lengths of time. Andruw Jones is 20th in win shares. No amount of clutch hitting is going to close that gap.
