Mik 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2005 Well, unless the Nats pull off 9 runs in the next two innings, Dontrelle will pick up win #20 tonight - again in dominating fashion. He also had a double and a single. Someday he just may get it together. And assuming the Phils hold on... 1. Marlins 1. Astros 3. Phils 0.5 GB 4. Nats 3.5 GB 5. Mets either 4.0 or 5.0 GB
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2005 I try to be optimistic. We put one of the best closers in baseball against a pathetic 7-8-9, and we can't do it. Why do I even try?
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2005 Fuckin' a. It may be rash, but that may be the nail in the coffin for the Phillies playoff hopes.

Guest Report post Posted September 8, 2005 I'm glad I didn't go to the Dodger game tonight, Bonds isn't being activated, so there's no reason. Good decision on my behalf.
sfaJack 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2005 The Astros are the luckiest team in baseball. There is no other way to describe it. An error keeps the inning alive and then Biggio, who is having a horrible post-ASB run, especially on the road, hits a homer as Wagner gives up a run in consecutive games for only the second time all year. It's unbelieveable. They're not this good.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2005 It probably shouldn't surprise me that as soon as the Mets get Looper off the hook, he puts them right back in trouble. Cubs and Cards in a close one in their final meeting at Busch. Look for the Edmonds web gem later tonight. Jose Macias finally makes great contact and Edmonds just makes him another notch on the old belt.

I hate the guy, but I've only seen him once in person and wanted to see him again before he retires. I'll get a chance next year though and I really don't expect him to be back from injury until about the 20th.
devo 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2005 God bless Chris Woodward. And fuck Braden Looper. Fuck him right up his useless, overpaid ass. Mets lose and I'm confident that this marks the end of their season.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2005 Yeah, fuck Braden Looper. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why? Do you know how close he came to coming in with the bases loaded and no outs and making it out of there with no damage? Looper's the one that left zero room for error. Looked like they were going to get out of it for a moment, but those are the Mets for ya.

Takatsu then came in and almost got out of it. but of course... Edit: sorry Bruiser, now I get what you were saying, didn't notice the edit

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2005 Whew, Cubs win a close one. Runner was on third with two outs in the bottom of the ninth in a 2-1 game and Nunez gets called out on strikes with Pujols on deck.

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2005 I saw Victorino play about 25 times this year. He really blossomed as a player. More bad news for the Dodgers, as now Cesar Izturis will miss 10 months with Tommy John surgery.

C Dubya 04 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2005 Alright Al, please explain to me why there is not a single Phillies manager who understands baseball. In the ninth with two outs a Bell error is inevitable, but my problem is why is J Ro standing on the outfield grass with Taveras up? Did the coaches not watch any of the games this week? All he does is beat out slow rolling ground balls. You need to play up on him.

They could have had Jim Leyland, who WANTED to manage here.
