cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2005 I have no idea why they would put this Ashley chick in a match right now. The whole point of pro wrestling is that "These people are trained, you cannot just come in off the street and do it." Yet with this Ashley chick they literally just took a chick off the street and put her in a match. Not just a pillow fight or a mud wrestling match but an actual match with wrestling involved. Am I to understand this guy who got fired booked this particular segment? Hell, he should be fired for that, not the yelling part.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2005 It's on Meltz's site as well. The best part of the blurb is... WWE fired Rudy Fishmann on Tuesday night from the writing team. Apparently they were mad at him because he only was critical of the Torrie Wilson vs. Ashley Massaro match. No shit. Dusty Rhodes was in the office helping with writing today. We're either going to see something decent or unintentional comedy of the WrestleCrap variety coming from this. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Somebody's gonna be kissin Dusty's Ass, only it won't be a donkey.. CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2005 Agreed. Yelling at someone like Ashley, who is new and not used to the WWE environment, would only create more problems. You have to coddle them, you see, because they are weak-minded and very fragile. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And one day, us frail and dependant ladies can only hope to find a big, strong man to lead us in life and, out of the kindness of his own heart, marry us and have kids with us so us delicate creatures don't have to worry about petty things such as work or a career. Oh sigh. If only a man would claim me now so I wouldn't have to go through a silly thing such as school. Thinking is hard! Glad to see WWE is up to standards on equality amoung the genders. Hey, there's Steph! And um, Linda. Oh and, well, you know....look over there!

Sass 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2005 We're all just living in Vince's world. At least someone displayed a sign of brains in a WWE booking meeting in front of Vince. Too bad it didn't do any good.
The Tino Standard 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2005 CM Punk? Down in OVW. Barely-trained Ashley? On Raw having matches & interview segments. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> CM Punk was also the guy who had a match so bad at a Heat taping 6 weeks ago that it was cut from the broadcast all together. Sorry, gang, but your indy hero is human too.

King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2005 I'm not saying Punk's a bad wrestler, far from it. But if everyone's expecting him to completely blow them away with his in-ring ability, they're in for some disappointment. I like Punk a lot, don't get me wrong. He's just not the kind you can watch any one match of his and say 'wow, he's awesome'. Especially not in 5 minute matches.

Sorry, gang, but your indy hero is human too. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> From what I read at the time it was not so much a bad match and more awkward as he was working his way and pacing himself and it clashed with his opponent who was doing the WWE style of "get all my moves in first". I'm assuming you are talking about the match where Alexis Laree valeted him and if not, my bad.

If a guy's match was that bad, even if it was when someone like Maven or Daniel Puder had their first match, do you really think that Vince would have thought it was okay? Of course not! If Torrie Wilson, who supposidly wants to start wrestling regularly, has that terrible of a match, of course she should get critical feedback. If this was a bra and panties match, or a mud wrestling match, or whatever the hell they do for T&A matches, fine. But this was portrayed as a real match. Frankly, it was embarrassing to the company, and I see no reason why the people involved should be comforted rather than criticized.

CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2005 Throw in a white picket fence, and now we're talking! But seriously, does anyone actually think that women should be held at a different standard than men? Should anyone be held at the standard in which *that* match is considered fine?
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2005 The premise of "everyone should be treated equally" is flawed in that everyones role in the company is different. Women, in this case, are not supposed to be tough and weathered, they are supposed to be perky and smiley and bouncy. If Management wants them to stay perky, smiley, bouncy, then they can't be traditionally tough on them, because, well, everything we've been saying -no matter how far our tongues were implanted in our cheeks- about them is true...-ish. Most of these girls have come from a modelling and acting background, and are used to be treated a certain way. Their options are also more open than the guys, so they can afford to leave the WWE if they want to. If it were me in that position, I wouldn't necessarily coddle them and say that a shitty match was "ok" (though if it were me in that position, it would never happen in the first place), but I wouldn't treat them "like the guys" either.
