Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven:

A time to give birth, and a time to die; A time to plant, and a time to uproot what is planted.

A time to kill, and a time to heal; A time to tear down, and a time to build up.

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; A time to mourn, and a time to dance.

A time to throw stones, and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, and a time to shun embracing.

A time to search, and a time to give up as lost; A time to keep, and a time to throw away.

A time to tear apart, and a time to sew together; A time to be silent, and a time to speak.

A time to love, and a time to hate; A time for war, and a time for peace.

Leviticus 21:17-23

21:17 Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.

21:18 For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous,

21:19 Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded,

21:20 Or crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken;

21:21 No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God.

21:22 He shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy.

21:23 Only he shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries: for I the LORD do sanctify them.

There's a time to live and a time to die

When it's time to meet the maker

There's time to live but isn't it strange

As soon as you're born you're dying

Incandenza, I am tired and heart broken - tell me your thoughts on Oh Susannah.

The verses are nice, but there isn't enough to their performance to make up for the gimmickiness of covering this song. (For what it's worth, I didn't much care for "We'll Meet Again" from Mr. Tambourine Man, either.)

Why was Ariel's dad such a cunt?

How much trouble could a broad get into under the sea? She couldn't get to the world wwithout legs, which she didn't have, thus making it a non-issue, and with no legs, she presumably has no box, which should have been another sigh of relief for her dad.

So... what about Sebastian from "The Little Mermaid"? I love that cocksucker. TLM is easily my favorite of the modern era Disney films.

Personally I think Aladdin was better

Agreed, even if Gilbert Goddfried pisses me off.

Jasmine > Ariel.

Nah, I know plenty of people who like the Little Mermaid and would back it as its favourite and I have to say it is a great film. I was just making sure Aladdin was remembered.

I will say this though, when you were about 12-13 watching the Little Mermaid. At the part where she just becomes human and is on the beach. Did anyone else ever used to move their head tryna look at the screen at a different angle to try and get a snatch shot?

No.

Mine is Robin Hood.

We said 'modern era'. Beauty y el Beast is actually the typical response... it won the Oscar and all (or was nominated. I never can remember). And I actually went to school with the kid who voiced Chip (teacup). But no, LM is superior.

Of the classic era I go with Dumbo. Because of its surprisingly mature themes.

Ok, Disey/Pixar... my favorite remains Toy Story 1.

Oy...Disney discussion...

Modern Animated (post 1985) - Beauty And The Beast

Modern Animated Honorable Mention - Fantasia 2000 (cause i'm a sucker for that shit)

The Middle Years Animated (1960 - 1985) - One Hundred And One Dalmatians

The Middle Years Honorable Mention - Robin Hood

Classic Animated (1937 - 1960) - Bambi

Classic Honorable Mentions - Peter Pan, Dumbo

Pixar - Toy Story 1

Pixar Honorable Mention - Finding Nemo

I'm not a fan of the "big three" of the classics...the Princess Trilogy of Snow White, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty. I actually don't think i've ever seen Sleeping Beauty all the way through, and I don't think I've watched more than 60% tops of the other two.

All the ones I mentioned above I've at least seen from front to back once if not many more. Though I can't watch Bambi now, cause when his mom gets shot I lose it. I'm such a wuss but I've seen that piece of film like two dozen times and i'm still not desensitized to it.

And...might as well go this route...

Favorite Songs from Disney animated movies...

"Circle of Life" - Lion King

"Under The Sea" - Little Mermaid

"Be Our Guest" - Beauty and the Beast

"You Can Fly! You Can Fly! You Can Fly!" and "Second Star To The Right" - Peter Pan

"Never Seen An Elephant Fly" - Dumbo

And whether it counts or not, the "Rhapsody In Blue" segment from Fantasia 2000 is great, and I watch it randomly when I'm bored.

Man, Fox and the Hound... the part where the old woman's trying to get rid of the fox by dumping him in the forrest. That shit made me crey all the time as a kid. I need to watch it again.

Aww shit, this thread is bringing back so many memories. I used to cry my eyes out at the very end because the two friends were seperated and had moved on and they both knew they could never see each other again. Fuck, I forgot about that.

I don't remember much about Fox and the Hound, except I saw it in the theater and it made me cry but I liked it for the most part. It's one of those B list Disney movies they don't pimp as classics, like Hercules, Valient, that Farm one from a couple years back. Even ones they pushed like Mulan aren't considered really to be classic. They havn't made a cell animated classic after Lion King and it's kind of sad.

Oh man...this discussion might kill me, because I sort of still give a shit about their animation department. They haven't done anything overly exciting, new, or different since the Lion King because it's more about synergy and the art of selling everything but the movie. They aren't into caring about what the viewer thinks of the movie, they just hope the characters are cute enough to warrant shirts, hats, toys, video games, etc that they can market and make the money back on the poor box office.

The fact is that if they stopped focusing on that aspect and instead focused on making the product better, people would be more inclined to search out and demand those other things - and thusly make more money in the long run.

I have no idea what they were thinking with "Home On The Range", seriously. With the advent of CGI, it's hard for Disney to pull people in with just regular animation, and they are not creative enough anymore to try and come up with ANYTHING innovative in that department. I am not sure if it's all been done, but there are few options left with the medium. I don't think we will ever see the glory days again.

CGI is where it's at now and Disney has almost or did lose out on Pixar because they were fucking retarded. Remember, Disney also didn't give an orphanage money for the use of Peter Pan recently. I mean, seriously...what the FUCK.

more later...if i feel compelled to continue ranting.
