therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2005 All about the Choke Train! Simply an amazing end for the Phillies. Harry Kalas was in shock. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'd say this loss was more McKeon's fault for: 1. Leaving Willis in too long 2. Depending on Todd Fucking Jones to bail them out
Mik 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2005 "Can Dontrelle get any additional points towards the Cy Young simply by being the Marlins savior?" He lost. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You're a fucking moron. Does that really need further clarification? Ok, here goes.. 1) That was obviously typed after the eight shutout innings 2) I highly doubt that the two errors and Juan Pierre's serious misplay that was in between them was Dontrelle's fault 3) You've already been proven wrong and today's eight shutout innings proved it. If McKeon took Dontrelle out to start the 9th like he should have the defense didn't implode - it would have been a different story. And for the above post: You mean depending on one of the best closers in all of MLB this season was a mistake? Just because he sucked for the Phillies and pretty much everywhere else doesn't mean he sucks this year. Check the stats.
therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2005 I believe it's a contract year for him Mik, which means he'd probably play well this year anyway in hopes of getting some team to blow a wad of money on him before reverting to his usual shitty self. Just thinking of past history when I watch him...
mike546 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2005 Yankees are playing out of their mind defense today. Two diving great plays by Cano, one great running catch by Sierra, and an incredible diving catch by Matsui.
Guest TheDon Report post Posted September 17, 2005 Blue Jays have first and second no outs bottom of the night down 1-0. I am calling it right now. Gordon is going to blow the lead and the game for the Yankees. Whew what a sense of relief. Wow arod turns the double play to end the game. Looked like Gordon was going to blow it for sure. mike546 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2005 A-Rod, makes a GREAT GREAT play to start a game ending DP. Thats what Ortiz cannot do, and thats what makes A-Rod MVP.

UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2005 Mik, I agree, Jones is one of the best. He has the NL record for most consecutive appearences with a save (23). He was Mr. Reliable. He can't be bashed just because he had a meltdown. I'm just raggin' Willis because, despite my initial thoughts on him following the break, he's been pretty much one of baseball's best two pitchers, and has been dominating his starts, especially on the national spotlight. No need for the insults, man. Just a happy Phils fan that can't believe the Phillies survived not only WILLIS, but Mr. Phillie Killer Himself, JEFF CONINE. A big outing from Beckett can help fix things tomorrow, a little bit, but the Marlins looked so depressed, shocked, and embarassed...something that usually happens to the Phils with their late-season trips to Florida. Mik 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2005 Well, I honestly think the Marlins are finished. But the thing with them is that you can never predict what they are going to do. They can win the next 6 games...they are that unpredictable. I have a bad feeling this offseason is going to be difficult as well.
Guest TheDon Report post Posted September 17, 2005 I wonder what the A's and the Angels are going to do tonight. The division is going to come down to which team that doesn't lose horrible ball games.
mike546 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2005 Looks like the Indians will be 3.5 behind the White Sox after tonight. Unreal.
Guest TheDon Report post Posted September 17, 2005 Could it be 1995 with the Angels and Mariners or 1978 with the Red Sox and Yankees. It is looking like the ChiSox are going to be in a ton of trouble when they play the Indians. To think that there are 6 games left between those two teams. The White Sox are going to have to win at least 2 games just to stop the Indians. If there were another 2 weeks to the regular season I really think the Indians can overtake the White Sox. I dont know with just two weeks though.

mike546 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2005 Out of all the teams playing the Sox when their entire team beside Ortiz is in a slump, it just has to be a sucky hitting team like the As playing them. SCORE SOME RUNS!
Guest TheDon Report post Posted September 18, 2005 I hear you Mike. You shouldn't really count on the A's though. They are known for their late season and playoff colapses.

Bored 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2005 I hear you Mike. You shouldn't really count on the A's though. They are known for their late season and playoff colapses. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They are? Okay postseason but they are known for playing great late in the season...until this year. I'm still not sure how this offense is 5th in the A.L. in runs scored. They have zero power. Eric Chavez has just dissapeared at the plate.
Guest TheDon Report post Posted September 18, 2005 I was talking about last seasons collapse against the Angels and failing to get into the playoffs. Thank you CHOKELAND for losing and laying down yet again to the Red Sox. How many medicore pitchers have you faced Chavez???? I loved how he put down Aaron Small yet every pitcher is looking like Cy Young against this team.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2005 The ineptness of the White Sox is incredible. Everyone assumed they had a playoff birth all but locked at the All-Star Break. That includes their pompus announcing crew, who were talking about what they were doing in the postseason nearly everyday way back in late June. I'll be watching every White Sox telecast that I can from here on out just to hear those jackasses finally be humbled. And it's funny how many Yankees fans are damning teams losing to Boston, when none of it would be necessary if the Yankees themselves had actually taken care of their own business. I feel like this six game winning streak has gotten us no where. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's at least kept them in shouting distance. If they'd gone 3-3, you guys would be crying over how the Yankees blew it late. I'll never understand people bitching even when their teams win.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2005 After all the problems the Phillies had against the Marlins, it honestly seems like the Marlins just can't solve the Phils this time. The Phils have just abused the Florida pitching staff the last two series. The Marlins are not out of it yet though, as a win tomorrow would bring them one behind the Phils. I would say that the players would've felt quite uncomfortable being down before the 9th inning and having to see Bowa pacing around and acting like a nut in the dugout... Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2005 Off the top of my head, I recall DJ not talking about what they did IF they made the playoffs, because "we are going to the playoffs." And then on another telecast, Hawk was talking about their struggles with the A's and wrapped it up with, "well, I don't care, we're gonna kick their booties in the playoffs."
