Guest OSIcon Report post Posted September 16, 2005 From PWInsider: Jeff Jarrett defeated Raven to capture the NWA championship tonight at the Border City Wrestling event in Windsor, Ontario Canada after the interference of America's Most Wanted, who completed their much expected heel turn. The match was billed as the first NWA championship bout in 47 years. TNA had 5 cameras at the event filming the title change and will be putting footage online on TNAWrestling.com. TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2005 Well it's was smart of TNA to do something significant and film it, so they bill it as a house show when the hit Spike. Give them an air of legitimacy. BUT, the only way Jarrett having the title is ok if they go ahead with the Monty turn they've been hinting at and he eats a Pounce at BFG. AlaskanHero 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2005 Hmm, interesting. I know Jarrett isn't really liked around here, hell I don't like him much either, but I am intrigued by the possible teaming of JJ and AMW. I'm a mark for stables so I'd like to see this turn into a faction of some sort. The bookers have been doing well lately, so I'm gonna sit back and wait before calling this a stupid move or anything like that.
gWIL 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2005 I can almost understand why it was done, as they were using that show as a prototype for house shows, right? They will be buzz on the net about the switch and it could in theory lead up to a Loser Leaves Town match but after that Jarrett needs to be gone at the very least for a couple of months. Edit: I kinda like the idea of Monty being the next challenger as he will be new in the minds of fans come the Spike TV debut and not someone jobbing on Sunday Night Heat a few years ago. But were would that leave Raven?
Guest Report post Posted September 16, 2005 That's fucking crap, but a part of me thinks (or hopes) they're just moving the belt to someone else.

Astro101 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2005 Fuck. That prototype houseshow was a good idea. But dammit, to have titles change to Jarrett sucks. He is NOT the guy to build a promotion around, especially when you need to have something fresh and new on Spike. I've been wanting AMW to go heel for a very long time. Maybe they can add some more dimension to the team.

Guest OSIcon Report post Posted September 16, 2005 Having the title switch somewhere other than Orlando is really not a big deal at all. The match is still going to be shown on their internet TV so the only difference is some paid customers in Canada saw it live instead of comped fans in Orlando. Really, if they are going to do their TV tapings out of Orlando exclusively but run house shows here and there, it wouldn't be a bad idea to do a lot of big angles/title switches on these shows and tape them. There is really no reason not to. Now giving the title to Jarrett just seems like a dumb idea.....
UZI Suicide 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2005 Fuck, that is fucking stupid. Totally kills any interest I had in TNA heading into the Spike TV debut. Plus, I don't know of anyone who likes Jeff Jarrett, and having him as your Champion when you debut your first major TV show is fucking gay.

TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2005 Only problem is that is going require them to spend time rebuilding Monty. Sad to say that it looks like we're in for another long JJ Reign Of Doom. Well Monty did throw the challenge out for BFG on the Unbreakable pre-show. But Jarrett seems to be feuding with Hardy. Maybe we'll get a deadly draw with JJ, Monty, Hardy and Raven. That's pretty much TNA's star power...unless they toss Nash in there and if they decide to put Monty over, he can get the rub for new fans of going over all the names at once. It'll be interesting to see where they go from here though.

TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2005 TNA posted this on their site a few minutes ago: MAJOR NEWS: JEFF JARRETT REGAINS NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE FROM RAVEN IN CANADA ON THURSDAY NIGHT! America’s Most Wanted shocks the fans by helping Jarrett win the gold (Oldcastle, Ontario, Canada) – The self-proclaimed “King of the Mountain” Jeff Jarrett regained the NWA World Heavyweight Title on Thursday night in Oldcastle, Ontario, Canada, defeating Raven with the help of America’s Most Wanted. In a shocking turn of events, “Wildcat” Chris Harris and “Cowboy” James Storm turned their backs on the fans and aligned themselves with Jarrett, ultimately costing Raven the bout and the World Title. The NWA World Heavyweight Title match took place under the banner of Border City Wrestling out of Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Following the bout, NWA Championship Committee member Larry Zbyszko was in contact with the promoters of the show, and Zbyszko has informed TNAwrestling.com the title change is indeed official. Thanks to America’s Most Wanted, Jeff Jarrett has fulfilled his proclamation of being NWA World Heavyweight Champion with the debut of “iMPACT!” on SpikeTV on October 1. “I told Raven…I told EVERYONE that for the good of TNA Wrestling, I needed to be NWA World Heavyweight Champion when we hit SpikeTV!” Jarrett told TNAwrestling.com via phone after the bout. “I knew TNA management was trying to keep me down, so I had to get that title back on MY terms in Canada where they couldn’t stop me! Chris Harris and James Storm were the only ones out of that entire locker room who had the brains to listen to me. They made the right choice! Now roll out the red carpet, because YOUR champion - The King Of The Mountain - and America’s Most Wanted – the cornerstones of TNA - are coming to SpikeTV, and there’s nothing TNA management can do to stop us!” “Jarrett was right all along – it was time for America’s Most Wanted to finally look after OUR best interests for a change,” Chris Harris told TNAwrestling.com. “We built this company from the ground up and we’ll be damned if anyone was going to take our spot – the spot we RIGHTFULLY own. Who was looking out for us? The fans? TNA management? Raven? No – Jeff Jarrett was looking out for us. And guess what? Now we’ve got his back, and now WE call all the shots.” James Storm added: “By the way…hey Naturals, shine up the tag team titles – it’s only a matter of time now before they’re coming home, one way or another. Sorry ‘bout your damn luck…” Raven left the arena immediately following the bout and refused to comment on the situation. TNAwrestling.com will have a further update on Friday afternoon following the events that unfolded on Thursday night in Ontario with the crowning of new NWA World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Jarrett! I think we'll see a title change put off and put off and put off, until Jerry and Jeff can get control back from Panda, and then all talk of a title change will vanish. Guest Report post Posted September 16, 2005 I honestly think they won't change the title for at least another 4 months, because they're making AMW Jarrett's bitches and we all know that HAS to go on forever.

gWIL 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2005 Monty doesn't need to be built back up. Raven wasn't when they put the title on him out of nowhere. Just have Monty challenge Jarrett then defeat say Jeff Hardy or Abyss to become #1 Contender. Hopefully a large portion of TNA fans will be new to the promotion thanks to Spike and they can just show clips of Monty dominating during the shows and maybe win a couple of squash matches. Raven can go to a loner storyline where he had it all and lost it all. Maybe him and a mystery partner vs AMW at BFG. Or maybe have Raven say he doesn't need a partner. It's a shame they did the enemy shows up to help Raven storyline just a few months ago. EDIT: New Jack. Have Raven say he is bringing in someone who will embarass the company, someone who will bring absolute mayhem. New Jack is a name and wouldn't be that hard to get. Or maybe the Dudley's if their no compete is up.
