Team Angle Pusher Posted September 18, 2005 Report Posted September 18, 2005 It might be even better if Angle won the belt because it would be something fresh, Cena is better when he's chasing the Champion and with the whole new beginning at USA Network they want to do something new and they can have Austin tell Cena not to give up and he "passes the torch" somewhat.
bob_barron Posted September 18, 2005 Report Posted September 18, 2005 (For smartmarks who don't get why, and I'm sure there'll be a lot of you like that, the concept of Taboo Tuesday is that the "fans" votes choose which guy faces the champion for the WWE title. And the one to be picked is obvioulsy the most popular babyface on the show. Which is Cena. So Angle wins at UFG and defends it at TT against the guy the "fans" pick, which will be Cena.) Thanks for that. See, but Taboo Tuesday bombed so they probably don't want to do the Pick the #1 contender thing again. And Angle going over Cena would be retarded.
Guest JoeJoe Posted September 18, 2005 Report Posted September 18, 2005 Last year was their first try out on a weekday PPV. They could do the very same card next year and get a better number than before's. And please, tell it to me in WORDS, why Angle going over Cena is so nonsencial to you. Especially with the way Angle is carrying the show these days. You see, we have had "bad guy" champions in the past. Getting one more entertaining than Triple H wouldn't hurt at all. Faces do lose to strongly potrayed heels.
bob_barron Posted September 18, 2005 Report Posted September 18, 2005 If anything given how bad Taboo Tuesday was, doing the same card would probably result in it being worse. People aren't going to pay for a show if they don't know what's going to to be on it. And they've done weekday PPVs tons of time before this. Cena is still hot right now, and taking the belt off of him at a PPV no one is going to watch and after he's been Angle's bitch for a month would really damage him. I think Cena beating Angle on a fluke only to have Angle go psycho to build to a rematch would be the way to go.
Guest JoeJoe Posted September 18, 2005 Report Posted September 18, 2005 My point is, doing something, IN THIS ERA, for the first time, especially it being a filler weekday PPV, isn't going to draw a lot on the first time. As it gets going, it will gradually do better. Of course, current angles and payoff matches play a role. Rematch angle sounds good. But I don't see the logic behind taking the title off somebody only when he's not "hot". Both guys are hot at the moment. Cena will look much more better as a chaser to the title. And if Angle loses this feud, his character development during this past month will be for nothing. And I don't see that happening.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted September 18, 2005 Report Posted September 18, 2005 I'd say have Cena win by DQ on a bullshit call, have Angle snap postmatch and totally destroy Cena and build on that rematch. It's definitely better than "Hey Kurt, here's the belt. Have fun with it for a month!"
bob_barron Posted September 18, 2005 Report Posted September 18, 2005 No. DQs are for RAW, not for a PPV people pay $35 for.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted September 18, 2005 Report Posted September 18, 2005 Funny, you should have told them that at Unforgiven 2003.
bob_barron Posted September 18, 2005 Report Posted September 18, 2005 There weren't any DQs there, just three hours of boredom
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted September 18, 2005 Report Posted September 18, 2005 I'm trying to remember how Taker/Brock ended. It sure as hell wasn't clean pinfall. edit: I mean 2002. I'm bad with years.

I'm bad with years. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It was some sort of DQ. This is where the story about Taker "not feelin' it" came from.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted September 18, 2005 Report Posted September 18, 2005 Yeah, so that shows me WWE is willing to do a DQ finish for a PPV main event. Granted I don't really like DQs, but if they are going to do a rematch with the two without the belt switching hands, this is the only way I see WWE doing it.

Dr. Zaius Posted September 18, 2005 Report Posted September 18, 2005 Given that the marketing campaign for "Raw" on USA Network is centered around Cena as champ, I'm assuming he will still be champion going into Taboo Tuesday.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 So Angle IS winning at Unforgiven. YAY! RavishingRickRudo Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 You know, last night sorta played out like I laid out, but my scenario was so much better.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 You know, last night sorta played out like I laid out, but my scenario was so much better. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, but did your scenario set up a potential MOTY of Cena v Bischoff?
RavishingRickRudo Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 I admit it, I did not think of that brilliant match. Why should I hate Bischoff again??
Spaceman Spiff Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 Because WCW bested WWF in TV ratings for 80-some weeks.
RavishingRickRudo Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 I liked WCW, though. Hasn't it been enough time since WCWs collapse that Eric Bischoff being put in these situations is more sad, than anything else? I can't help but feel sorry for the guy. I don't think that's the WWE's intent.
CanadianChick Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 I admit it, I did not think of that brilliant match. Why should I hate Bischoff again?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because he's trying to get the title off your homeboy Cena. Duh.
RavishingRickRudo Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 But it's not like he doesn't have a good reason to hate Cena. Shit, Cena started it. And it's not like Bischoff has been succesful or ruthless enough to take away his valid reasons in a "ok, you've gotten what you wanted, now stop cause this is getting excessive" kinda way. This is more "dude, seriously, stop cause you keep failing".
ChrisMWaters Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 The reason he hates Cena is because Cena wouldn't be a brown-noser for Bischoff. At least that's what they say on camera.
