Naked Snake 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2005 It can be argued that Andre the Giant was basically a midcarder near the end of his WWF run. So, after the twin referee scandal of Saturday Night's main event in 1988, what other high profile wins (or even losses) did Andre have in that time period? Thanks... Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2005 His last high-profile win was probably on Superstars in December 1989 when he and Haku beat Demolition to win the WWF Tag Titles. Between the end of the Hogan feud and Wrestlemania VI, Andre didn't do a whole lot. The last win of any sort that I can remember being mentioned on television was the Collosal Connection's victory over the Rockers at a house show in March 1990. It didn't air (to my knowledge), but Heenan used to talk about what his guys did at house shows when he hosted Prime Time Wrestling with Gorilla Monsoon and I remember this match specifically being mentioned. haws bah gawd 0 Report post Posted September 23, 2005 I was just getting into wrestling around the time that the Giant retired. My question is what did he use as a finisher? I see in the Smackdown games that he uses an elbow drop, and big splash. Are these correct or was it something different?
Perfxion 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2005 Andre's finisher towards the end of his career/life was the get tied in the ropes and "Sports Entertainment" finish because he could barely walk/move let alone wrestle. He had no business wrestling in any kind after WM1 maybe WM3 if you want the dream match.
strummer 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2005 everyone always says that Andre shouldn't have been wrestling after 85/86 but the guy was still a great draw. Obviously the Hogan program did tremendous business but the guy drew money on top with Jim F'N Duggan (including selling out MSG) I don't think Andre's legacy was "tarnished" for having such bad matches from 87-90 AT ALL. The fans still reacted to him and he still drew.
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2005 Andre's finisher was some crappy hiptoss/suplex thing during his main event run in 87-88. After that it was just an elbow drop or BUTT splash.

After that it was just an elbow drop or BUTT splash. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> IIRC it was usually the elbow drop...which was in truth just Andre flopping down on someone armpit first. I used to call it the "Uhh Drop," because Andre would stand over the opponent, then yell "UHHHHHHH!" before dropping the elbow.
