UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 Burrell hits ball over fence. 5-2 Phils, bottom 7.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 Before I became a Phillies fan I had a full head of hair.
Bruiser Chong Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 So not only can Myers not win it (bad for my fantasy team), but Beltran doesn't get any RBIs out of being involved in the play that tied the game (also bad for my fantasy team). And now it gets worse.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 Two notes about this. 1. While Urbina stunk, Chase Utley certainly did not help by making two errors on the same play. 2. GOD FORBID you use your best relief pitcher before the ninth inning. Never mind that the game will be decided with the opposing team's heart of the order up in the eighth inning.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 So not only can Myers not win it (bad for my fantasy team), but Beltran doesn't get any RBIs out of being involved in the play that tied the game (also bad for my fantasy team). And now it gets worse. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Beltran really should be credited for an RBI. The run would've scored even if Utley threw him out at first. EDIT: He was.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 Oh, MADSON...this'll fix everything.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 At least Madson produced a decent outing. Hopefully he can regain his confidence in time for the Playoffs (knock on wood). Meanwhile, the Giants have saved their season for now with two runs on the Padres in the ninth.
Bored Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 God damn Padres. It is an absolute joke the god awful Assholes by the Bay are still in this.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 Pinch hitting for Mike Lieberthal might be a good idea if Tucker showed some kind of hitting ability.
Bruiser Chong Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 You know, I hate to keep bringing it up, but my fantasy team can't catch a break. Both Myers and Peavy are excellent tonight and their bullpen blows it for them.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 Horrible 8th inning for Phillies with Bell and Tucker having craptastic at bats.
Bored Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 The Giants are now closer to winning their division than the A's. Kill me. This is a sick joke. Hell give me another Red Sox/Yankees ALCS over a losing Giants team making the playoffs.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 And again. Is there ever a situation where we can less afford to give up a run? There's no reason not to use Billy Wagner here.
Bruiser Chong Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 JT Snow just split his chin open on one of the cameras by the dugout trying to make a catch. PS I hate the Padres.
devo Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 Goddamn. Giants beat Peavy and the Padres. San Diego might be in trouble.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 That's awesome SF came back and won, as San Diego in the playoffs would be embarassing. After getting major props and highlights from Berman on Sportscenter last night, the Phils and their "comeback magic" need a big 9th.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 Goddamn. Giants beat Peavy and the Padres. San Diego might be in trouble. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They're still three up. San Francisco needs to sweep to have any kind of chance. This is just one game.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 As an aside, every time I see the ESPN.com scoreboard the Yankees/Orioles score changes. I've seen 11-3 Yankees, 11-2 Yankees, and 11-3 Orioles.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 True, but I think you'd rather take your chance of saving Billy for 10-12 innings than relying on the Super Worst Bullpen Ever Friends.
devo Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 I realize. But SD's rotation outside of Peavy is fairly pathetic, and tonight was their best chance of stopping a sweep and killing the Giants' momentum. As it is, the Padres continue to flounder while the Giants' chances look better every day.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 Off to watch the end. :::cross Phillies:::: CMON JROL. I wanna hear Kalas mark out again this week.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 True, but I think you'd rather take your chance of saving Billy for 10-12 innings than relying on the Super Worst Bullpen Ever Friends. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If the Mets score another and the game ends in the ninth, what's the point? It's just a matter of opinion, but my style is to worry about the current situation, and deal with the rest when you come to it.
Bruiser Chong Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 I see Pat Burrell attended the Moises Alou School of Check Swings.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 Jeez, Burrell. Tough, tough loss.
devo Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 Man, it's nice to not have Looper closing anymore.
KingPK Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 If I was an Orioles fan right now, I'd be just humiliated at how not only is their team seeminglu booking tee times between innings, but Camden Yards has become overrun by the opposing team's fans in Tropicana Field levels. You can't really say that the Yankees have a disadvantage because they're on the road when there are 25,000 Yankee fans in attendance. And yes, I'm bitter because this means the Sox will probably have to sweep Toronto for the last series to mean anything outside of the Friday game.
bob_barron Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 THANK YOU NEW YORK METS! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! We've clicnhed a tie!!! Now let's hope the Braves can not gag one of these games coming up
Big McLargeHuge Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 As much as I was amused by Bored's insane hatred of the Giants, I don't regret putting him on ignore. As far as the Gents go, don't believe the hype. I'm ecstatic they're playing the way they are, but with the amount of games they have to make up, and the amount of games left, the chance of a comeback is marginal at best. I accept it. But it's a shit load more fun watching games now than in June. I'm just amazed at how different a team they are. They couldn't buy a late-inning comeback win before September, and now they've pulled off about 6 of them in the past 2 weeks. Crazy.
