Early Lockdown Comments

Recommended Posts

Beats me. Just got home, saw the show still hadn't gone up, so I jacked his account and posted what he had.

If I don't hear from him soon, I'll take over marking Akira/ELM and try to get something together for a Smarkdown card. If anyone here has requests for Smarkdown booking, please send them to me.

I already had my computer meltdown, and Tom just had his, so I'm thinking maybe Mike's just copying us to try and be cool. Lame-o. :P

I lost via chop block.

That's pretty lame.

Edit: After a reread, that wasn't just lame. It was retarded.

Mine and Blank's version of the match ended rather suddenly, and seemed a little forced as well, but that's downright retarded.

Well, Ward DOES have notoriously bad knees.

And they DID work the knees all match.

Does that justify jobbing Ward to a chop block? No, not at all. But you have to consider that.

A chop block? At least that was an actual move. I'm still slightly angerful that Hawke won the "Russel Crowe's Favorite Match" match by Lil' Buck getting dizzy on an airplane spin and falling down.

And, granted, I haven't read the match yet, but it doesn't sound like you guys were completely jobbed out within five seconds, so...yeah...I don't know what the hell I'm saying.

But it's not like we no-showed.

Hey, Marcus? You have three posts in a span of like ten minutes wondering why you lost. Why don't you wait a little bit and let your marker tell you why, instead of responding to every post about why Landon and Hawke's finish made sense? I know the two of them are open to criticism, but I don't think the two of them will take too kindly to you questioning their finish, and I know that your marker (and me, by extension) don't take too kindly to you openly questioning their decision. Now that you have, we will respond, but I'd suggest you don't make this a habit when you lose.

Sorry to offend. I'm normally quite fine with losing, I've asked twice for feedback on the decision, but I've never disagreed with anyone. Losing happens, cool.

I'm not upset at losing, I'm upset at the way I lost. I feel like I've been totally jobbed out. It's a bit upsetting, don't'ya'know. It's just as disrespectful to me as well to go through the match, say "Hey this is decent, I can see where someone might like this more, I wonder if they make me tap out..." and then all of a sudden a nonsensical finish occurs that DOES make me question the decision. I'm sorry if it's a problem to make it public, but I simply reacted openly. I felt no reason to hide my disagreement in this case.

While the finish to the match did seem rather iffy with the chop-block, the rest of it held up well in my view which is part of the reason I elected it over your own. It seemed to simply 'read' better - something that comes with fed experience - but that's just my opinion and can be entirely disregarded if you like.

I was also rushed, having woken up at midnight (I'm Australian if you don't mind) and realising I was late sending in a match and having to quickread through both and shoot one off. Your match was also rather well done though it could have used refinements - that's the storywriter in me speaking though. It didn't help that a formatting glitch chewed the first part to hell and made it hard to read, though.

Was Max King meant to be in both matches, if I might prod LandonHawke? It seems odd they'd have him at ringside for the match while Bruce and Ward didn't...

Hell, I wondered what the fuck was going on when I read that it was a chopblock to finish the match. :P But by then, I had no time to edit and I wasn't going to tell Hawke to do the same, considering he'd put in a whole lot of effort to even get anything done. And I think by the time he sent it to me, it was sent in already. If instead of 'cover' it read 'cradle', maybe it would have been less...I dunno. To be honest, I'm as surprised we won as you and Blank are. But then again, I've been there before with decisions I didn't agree with...shit happens sometimes I'm afraid.

But, yeah, it was a rush-job methinks and I'm positive Jay didn't mean to make Ward look like a jobber. So, yeah, apologies and stuff to Marcus on behalf of me and Jay, from me, if it came off wrong.

As far as I know, yes.

I wish you'd told me Zyon hadn't shown either. I would have hammered out SOMETHING.

Always hammer out something. Even if your writing time clashes with band practise, college, headaches and you're STILL not used to the new deadlines. Hammer out something.

He's in our match too. He doesn't do much, just sits down and watches (That's what we were told he would do)

I appreciate the explanation. Sorry about the outburst, I just wasn't really happy with the ending. Oh well.

To be fair, asking for marker explanation is generally an endeavour doomed to failure. I remember getting some sort of explanation for the second and third time i lost the World Title, but that's about it.

I'll explain the chop block finish.

I had planned on having Ward make the hot tag to Blank, who'd get some offense in before tagging Ward back in. Then, as Ward was lifting Landon up for a suplex, Hawke would hit the chop block with Landon falling on top for the pin. Much more sensical, right?

Unfortunately, by the time I was ready to work that finish, I was already at 4300 words and didn't know if I could pull it off in under 700 words without taking away from the story of the match.

The goal was not to job you out at all, and if you felt that's what happened, I apologize.

Yeah, I just would have rather seen Landon maybe get me in a quick leglock or something and have me tap out real quick with the knee than being pinned. It's not that I didn't think you had other plans with it, I was just upset that I lost to that finish as it really kinda killed your match in my eyes. I'm over it now, already 1/3 through my next match. :)

I haven't read the show yet, but I guess I should sort of apologise for no showing and not saying anything about it. Basically I play football (American, not soccer) for a school who won a state title last year, and lost one game. The team we played yesterday was the team that beat us last year, and guess what? WE LOST WITH FIVE SECONDS TO GO ON A 40 YARD BOMB, WHICH WAS THROWN INTO DOUBLE COVERAGE!

Anyway so yeah, my bad. I'll let people know for now on if I can get to the computer.

A 0-0 draw is perfectly watchable as long as there's a few bad tackles and some random aggression.
