haws bah gawd 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 Im not sure if he was being a prick of just messing around, but I met Ernest Miller and Ms. Jones in Augusta, GA in late 2000 when I was buying Nitro Tickets. My turn for an autograph came, and I asked him if he wouldn mind if I took a picture, so right before I actually took the pic, he and Ms. Jones decided to flip me off. Dicks. At the actual tapings though, I got an autograph from Stevie Ray who was doing commentary for Thunder at the time. He seemed overjoyed that someone asked for him to sign something, and acted thrilled to talk to myself and a few other people at ringside for a couple minutes before the tapings started. CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 Nothing negative will be said about Augusta in my presence. In seriousness, they actually flipped you off? That does suck. There's a similar thread about Carlito on WWE board right now. The only wrestlers I ever met were at an ECW meet and greet in 99. Awesome didn't seem to really want to be there, and being a horny 14 year old at the time, I flirted like hell with Dawn Marie. She seemed into it, although at the time it was a "Do you come with the car?" On the opposite side, at said meet and greet, my mom flirted with Balls Mahoney to get us tickets to the following night's N2R. It worked. So nothing negative that I can think of. Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 Out of all the wrestlers I met, the only people I have had problems were, not surprisingly, Scotty 2 and Bubba Ray. Paul Heyman once blew me off, but he did it with class!
JST 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 Sylvain Grenier threw a hissy fit because I found a taped up razorblade on a table. (This is from when he appeared at one of our shows before appearing in WWE)
Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 Bob Backlund stays in his gimmick at all times, and he's awesome at it. When he appeared at a show and people approached him for autographs, he was constantly telling people that he wouldn't sign any autographs unless the person asking could name all the Presidents of the U.S. in order. Headbanger Thrasher was a dick to me at an indy show when he was still working for the WWF. Three years later, after being fired, he appeared at a show and his ego appeared to have dropped. The Bushwhackers were pissed at me when I asked them to sign a magazine photo rather than buying a $20 8x10.
Guest FromBeyondTheGrave Report post Posted September 30, 2005 At a indy show, which had the UK PitBulls, who were signing autographs, a kid around 10, went up to one of them and said, "Hey, whats the show called?" The bigger, fatter one, replied with, "It's called, "We sign a load of shit and you give us money", okay?" I thought that was pretty funny.
Guest MikeSC Report post Posted September 30, 2005 I'm a little tolerant about any celeb being a "prick" to an autograph seeker as they are, no doubt, hounded constantly for them. I can't imagine how irksome it must be to have requests made constantly.
Carnival 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 I brushed past Booker T in a hotel hallway once, I said "Whats up booker" and gave him a nod. His facial expression never changed and he completely acted like I wasn't even there and kept walking. I also saw Tajiri later in the same hotel, I said "hello" and he proceeded to tell me he was drunk, then showed me the 5th of Jack Daniels in his pocket. All this with a HUGE smile on his face. I saw Scott Steiner leaving a parking garage I was walking by and gave him a wave, he proceeded to flip me off and run a red light on his way out.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 that surprises me about Booker T....Scott Steiner? not at all... Tajiri is probably a riot when he's drunk... was this in Lincoln? usually when they're here in Omaha, they stay at the DoubleTree...when i met Batista and Randy Orton at the titty bar, Orton said they were taking some sluts back to the DoubleTree, Batista replied with a smirk and an eye roll... Carnival 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 The Scott Steiner incident was after a nitro in lincoln. But the booker T and Tajiri ones were at Omaha in the double tree hahaha. I saw a bunch of other people too, but those are the only 2 I tried to talk to. It was like 3 hours after a RAW in KC, and they were taping smackdown in omaha. So I figured everyone was tired as fuck and just wanted to sleep. So I don't hold it against booker. I also saw Lesnar there and that was before he was on TV, so nobody was hounding him. In fact there weren't that many people there to get autographs. I just sat in the lobby for a while and chilled while people walked in. Lilian Garcia must have been lonely cuz she came up and just started talking to me. I asked her how her singing career was going with a snicker. But she was cool about it and laughed with me, then proceeded to tell a long uninteresting story about getting studio time. Some other dude was there, who I didn't know and he was like a member of her fan club so he was all about the lilian stories. When did you see Orton and Batista was that this year or the year before? Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 I saw Scott Steiner leaving a parking garage I was walking by and gave him a wave, he proceeded to flip me off and run a red light on his way out. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I met Scott when he first came back to the WWE (pre-disastrous Royal Rumble performance) at a house show. He was outside in his car, and knowing that Scott was a total dick, I just asked him if I could take a quick picture. He agreed, I snapped a shot, and he then got out of his car to talk to Jerry "The Wall" Tuite, who was hanging out during the show. Jerry was a very nice guy, but would sadly die ten months later. Special K 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 My friend met Booker and Stevie Ray in Vegas and said they were both really, really cool. Rudest person I've met is Axl Rotten. He wasn't a prick per se, just didn't want to be signing autographs, and taking zero time with the fans, yelling at them if they didn't have their merch ready. Nicest is definitely Dawn Marie. She stayed way after the show, talking to fans, posing for pictures (enthusiastically), the whole time wearing her ring attire, with a huge grin on her face. Makes me even more pissed that Vince fired her, when she was unmarried and with child.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 Scott Hall blew me off at a Circle K in Orlando back when I was living there. I was pissed for days about it, since all I said was hello, and politely waited until after he signed something for someone else. Asshole. Back when WCW was pretty much headquarted in Orlando, you could run into any of the wrestlers in grocery stores and the like... A friend of mine met Booker and Stevie just after they won the titles from Sting and Luger, and was floored at how big Scott Norton was. Even though she always played a slutty heel, I am not surprised at all that Dawn Marie is a sweetheart. You could tell just by looking at her.
Steve J. Rogers 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 You know, when you think about it, Professional wrestlers, even those currently gainfully employed by a major promotion, probably have amongst the least amout of equity built up to be jerks to the public. Them, Reality TV stars, Porn Stars, Professional Soccer players, WNBA players, ect Now, I'll buy a wrestler being a jerk because they are trying to "keep up apperances" in terms of staying in kayfabe 24/7 but come on. Put it this way, walk up to David Schwimmer do you expect him to be Ross? Walk up to Larry Hagman, do you expect him to be JR Ewing? You'd think wrestlers would be tired of "being a persona" and go to normal person outside of the ring. I mean thats what Iron Sheik and Hacksaw Jim Duggan did! BruiserKC 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2005 As a wrestling fan for over 25 years now I've had a lot of experiences with wrestlers that were cool and then those that were absolute jack-offs. JACK-OFFS Oscar, the manager of "Men on a Mission"...ran into him the afternoon of a house show in Des Moines at a downtown clothing store. I say "Oscar, what's up?" He gave me and my friends the dirtiest look...and the funny thing Oscar wouldn't look more than 12 years old if you took off that mustache of his, lol. A jobber-manager that used to work in Central States named Sheik Abdullah the Great. I went to a show in Kansas City where he wrestled Harley Race and if Race didn't beat him twice in 10 minutes he'd retire. Race won and Abdullah was cussing out a bunch of people out in the parking lot outside Municipal Auditorium. A bit of kayfabe going too far IMHO. Kevin "Big Sleepy" Nash- we ran into him at a strip club after a WCW Nitro...he acted like he couldn't be bothered with anyone other than the ladies vying for his attention. COOL STORIES Harley Race...few years ago he brought his WLW wrestling show to Des Moines for a show at a local movie theater. Afterwards at a local club we ran into him with his wrestlers. He sat at our table with me and a few other people and we all talked old-school wrestling until closing time and even for almost another hour or so outside after closing time. Bulldog Bob Brown...the first autograph I ever got from a wrestler...was at a house show in Wichita, Kansas. I was nervous as hell but he took time to sign and get a picture with me as well. RIP to the Bulldog. The Rock...went to the RAW the night after Summerslam '99 (the night Triple H won the title from Foley). I got to go with one of my wife's clients (she does home health care and one of them was a 10-year-old boy with MS who had tickets down front for RAW but his father was too ill to attend.) It was my reward for going with her to a concert I freaking hated (the things I have to do for the pseudo-sport I know and love). Rock made fun of a sign I had made saying, "I Smelled What The Rock Was Cooking And Called Domino's!" He notices the boy and winks at him. However, after the show as we were waiting for the crowd to dissipate enough to get out to our car without having to step or roll over everyone to do so, someone from the back with the WWF comes out and says that we are being invited to the back. We head back and it turns out the Brahma Bull himself invited us to come backstage. We get to talk to guys like Jericho, Foley, etc. Rock treated the little guy like a king and in the end gave him an autograph, program, and some other stuff. 10 Pounds 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2005 That's a nice story about the Rock. The only thing I had with wrestlers, and I don't think we can even call that an interaction, was after a PPV. We went to our car and passed by the place where all the wreslters left the arena. It was nearly a blizzard and the roads were covered with snow, I saw a car in which had Albert and (I think) Jamie Noble in it. Other than that, me and some friends attented a crappy indy show which maybe had 80-100 in attendance. We yelled things like "Do a legdrop !" and they would do it. They had a guy who attacked another guy after a match with a putter, he was going back to the locker room but forgot his putter at ringside. We yelled at him that he forgot his putter, he came back to get it and flipped us in the process.
Special K 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2005 Rock has always seemed like a class act. My fondest remembrances of the couple of ECW shows I went to are: Sabu sentonning into the seats 3' away from me. RVD jawing with us completely in arrogant face character. "Boy I should be winded!" Dawn Marie posing with some chubby 15-yo guy. Totally vamping it up with a big smile. Man, if you ever heard her on LAW, or on color for ECW shows, that chick was funny and LOVED what she was doing. No surprise I haven't watched WWE since she got axed except for once.
MillenniumMan831 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2005 The ECW wrestlers always made a great impression back in the day. I managed to land 1st row seats for a house show back in early-mid 1999. RVD won the main event and stayed for approx 10-20 minutes just circling the ring high-fiving everyone, taking pix, and making in character chit-chat w/ everyone. Alphonso was great too. Got Jason's autograph afterwards (only recognized him because of the neck brace he was wearing at the time). I think he was w/ Jazz but I didn't know who Jazz was at the time so I didn't pester her. Meanwhile, New Jack was signing a ton of autographs at the other side of the bar. He seemed very cordial to the fans. Since this is a thread about wrestlers being pricks, I may as well bring up when Bubba Ray threw my buddy's brand new Devil Rays cap into the crowd during a confrontation never to be seen again. Guest Amy Ace Report post Posted October 1, 2005 Like I said in the other thread Al Snow is the nicest wrestler I've ever met. Trish, Bubba Dudley, Hurricane, and Rey were all really nice too. Stacy was a total bitch. And Chris Jericho seemed really uninterested. Rob Van Dam was nice, he actually let me hug him, since I have a huge crush on him. Teddy Long was also really cool, I asked him what he was going to do since Rodney Mack was let go and he said they had something big planned for him,low-and-behold a couple months later he's the smackdown gm, so much for keeping the storylines underwraps! Oh ya, I also met Bret Hart (my idol) once at an autograph signing at some local dry cleaners, he was everything I expected and more, he's really such a good guy. Prophet of Mike Zagurski 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2005 I didn't want tp start another thread but I met RVD at my local mall after ECW closed down at a autograph session. He was late to it and the guy running it said that RVD would stay until everyone got an autograph. My dad and I waited an hour at the end of the line and there he was with Fonzie. He was nice and I asked him if that was the real ECW title and what did RVD 4:20 meant? He said that he had the real ECW belt on his mantle at home and RVD 4:20 means he is always on time. After the autograph session was over, I asked him if he would go to the WWF and I think he said he might. RVD and me During WM21, when we were leaving, Stacy Keiber and Maven ignored us while they were trying to leave.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2005 Since OVW is here in Louisville my friend Chris and I have run into wrestlers here and there. Once after helping Chris move we chilled at a Hooters where several OVW guys came in. Shannon Moore was cool as hell, chatted with us and gave Chris an autograph for his cousin. Matt Morgan was with Shannon as well, and brought two blondes with ultra huge fake tits (I wondered if they were OVW divas?). The only guy there that seemed like a sulking jerk was Luther, he wouldn't give anyone the time of day.

King Kamala 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2005 I've only met Tony Atlas and Tatanka in terms of wrestlers that wrestled for major organizations. Tony Atlas was a nice guy- almost too nice. I met him a Toys for Tots benefit at a used car dealership back in 2000 IIRC. I dropped off my toy and he gave me four tickets to an indy card featuring himself, Brutus Beefcake, a Doink, The Bushwhackers, Public Enemy, Kamala and The Headshrinkers. But my parents wouldn't let me go because it was a school night. Anyways, Tony was chatting our ears off for a good 5 minutes before we parted ways. I didn't know what the fuck he was saying except he started rapping about being on MTV True Life. Tatanka, I met shortly before his heel turn in 94 at an autograph signing at a video store. He looked tired and a bit bored. Oh I forgot Scotty 2 Hotty grew up like twenty minutes away from me, I met him three years ago at an autograph signing at a grocery store, he also looked bored and tired. I don't think he even said hi and he barely made eye contact with me.
