Dangerous A Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Here is a picture of the new IWGP title belt for all you belt marks out there. Note to WWE, THAT is how a title belt should look. At least in my opinion. http://www.puroresufan.com/images/iwgphw093105.jpg

Carnival Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 I think it's pretty good. Are those name plates of previous champs on the sides? Thats different.

Guest bigm350 Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 That may be the most beautiful belt I've ever seen. I always thought the Big Gold was what a World title should look like; that being, a World belt should be regal and classy. This IWGP belt trumps the Big Gold, hands down, in looks, and decor.
haws bah gawd Posted October 1, 2005 Report Posted October 1, 2005 I think it's pretty good. Are those name plates of previous champs on the sides? Thats different. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, not really. This version of the old WWF Title... ...had it too. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There you have it, right behind the Attitude Era World belt, my favorite championship of all time. If a replica were made of this, I would be all over it. Instead I have to settle for the version that came after this, but before the Winged Eagle. The sheer size of that belt, along with the acknowledgement of its previous holders is truly something to behold. Anyways, on topic. That new IWGP belt looks really good. It looks really big and heavy, like a World Title should. Didn't the previous IWGP belt look somewhat like the outline of a crown on a strap? If thats the belt im thinking of, that was a nice one too, but this is a definite improvement.
ChrisMWaters Posted October 1, 2005 Report Posted October 1, 2005 I just had a thought... Could you imagine the WWE Title acknowledging all the holders in the past? You'd need at least 32 spaces.
cameron chaos Posted October 1, 2005 Report Posted October 1, 2005 It also looks as though on each side medal where the names are, the listings correspond to the title holders from the continent depicted on the globe at the top of each medal. It does look a lot like the Undisputed title the WWE had a while back except with some gems like Cena's current belt. The massive lettering reminds me of UFC's titles.
TheInsane Posted October 1, 2005 Report Posted October 1, 2005 I like the IWGP belt. It looks really nice. The old belt looked cool as well but I dont think it was as good as the idea looked in the head of whoever made it. The new one looks great. Classy! Old belt: http://sportsnavi.yahoo.co.jp/fight/pict/2..._iwgp_top_b.jpg

Cause wasn't there two belts after that one and before the Winged Eagle. This one Of course, the old NWA TV belt used this style cept it wasn't shiney and it had red leather. And this one And speaking of this style. Didn't the old Global fed have a belt style like this back in the day?
pochorenella Posted October 2, 2005 Report Posted October 2, 2005 Beautiful-looking belt, no doubt, reminds me of those UFC belts. An improvement on the previous one, for sure. I still like WWE's Undisputed Title better.
King Cucaracha Posted October 3, 2005 Report Posted October 3, 2005 The old one wasn't that great, the shape was unique but it seemed odd to have a title that didn't look symmetrical or almost symmetrical. Not sure why. The new version is bitchin though.
Cuban Linx Posted October 3, 2005 Report Posted October 3, 2005 The belt looks damn good, a vast improvement over the last one. Having nameplates for all previous title holders is something i've wanted to see done more often, though with how often title belts are passed around these days most belts would run out of space within half a year.
Guest Zarock Posted October 3, 2005 Report Posted October 3, 2005 The old belt looks kinda dorkish because of it's shape, but Japanese Rob McElhenney makes it look hella cool. The new ones looks boss, although I'm not a fan just making the company's name the center attraction. It's much cooler to me to have it have something vague and superior sounding like "World Heavyweight Champion" or "Triple Crown Champion" instead.
Dangerous A Posted October 10, 2005 Author Report Posted October 10, 2005 This belt looks grand in this pic with Lesnar... http://www.puroresufan.com/images/lesnar100905.jpg

Certainly the IWGP title goes hand-in-hand with New Japan, but so is the "Triple Crown" and AJPW; the latter of which would be neat and vague while the former is not.? EDIT: This belt looks grand in this pic with Lesnar... Yes. Yes it does. Huge and like a million fucking dollars.
Ced Posted October 11, 2005 Report Posted October 11, 2005 Man, I hope they make replicas of it. I'd gladly pay money for one without a very little thought. That just screams out "motherf*cking prestige." The list of previous champions on the side plates brings up the obvious question of "What happens if they fill up all the slots?"
