KingPK 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2005 Against the Chargers' bad pass D, Brady couldn't do jackshit. What makes you think they will do better against a better pass D? Legit question, btw. I think the problem in that game was the Chargers D-line getting pressure on Brady almost every play, forcing him to throw when he doesn't want to. On that pick he threw, he wanted to drop the ball over the defender's head (the receiver was behind him waiting for it), but the pressure forced an underthrow that the defender could get. If the O-line gives him time and not allow three guys to get in his face, Brady can pick defenses apart.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2005 I think the NFL's concern is that if you wound up with, say, a Dallas-Miami SB in a snow city (ex: Giants Stadium), that few of those team's fans would come, certainly far fewer than if it was in a warmer city. Plus the sports media would bitch about it. A lot. IT'S 59 DEGREES IN JACKSONVILLE!!!! AND IT'S KINDA CLOUDY!!!!! Imagine this upcoming February when the Super Bowl is played at Detroit's Ford Field... And I sincerely doubt you'll find a shortage of any team's fans whose team has a chance of winning the Super Bowl.
Guest *KNK* Report post Posted October 7, 2005 The media had a YEAR to prepare for the coldness of Detroit, they thought it was going to be like Miami in Jacksonville and that just upset them. That's another point, they'll go to Detroit (a cold weather city that has a dome) but they won't hit St. Louis or Indy which are basically in the same position. Why haven't they gone to Dallas? It's a big city, it's domed and I don't know the weather of Texas in Feb but it can't be as bad as Detroit will be.
sfaJack 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2005 Thre's no "acceptable" stadium in Dallas as of yet. Once the Cowboys' new home is finished, that will change. They've already been promised a SB.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2005 I don't care much about most of the week's games, but I do have one thing to say. Vinny Testaverde is Moses. He may be old, but he's still the fucking man, and he's going to lead the Jets to the promised land of the playoffs. The Bucs are going down this week, count on it. IIRC, the 1979 Cotton Bowl, which was the famous Montana comeback game for Notre Dame, was played in an ice storm.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted October 7, 2005 The Bucs are going down this week, count on it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No thanks. The Bucs are looking much like their 2002 form, except this time with a much stronger offense and a feature runnning back. The Jets have been extremely disappointing. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2005 Vinny will lead the Jets to the promised land...namely drafting Matt Leinart with the #1 pick. Without Cadillac Williams the Bucs might have trouble scoring a bit, but with their D I can't see Jets scoring much.

I know for a fact (Through lots of family from the areA) that San Diego has to alter their stadium seating every time they have the super bowl to fit enough people in to be allowed to carry the game. Ford Field is a VERY large venue and most likely was designed specifically to meet those requirements.
Guest bigm350 Report post Posted October 7, 2005 What about the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena? They used to play host to Super Bowls for years, but the last one they had played their was SB XVII, when Dallas annihilated the Bills. Is it just because there's all these new stadiums popping up all over the place? Or is it becoming antiquated, and therefore the NFL doesn't look at it as a great venue anymore? If they had one there, that company/organization that owns the Rose Bowl would get a big chunk of their ticket profits, and I doubt the nfl likes that idea. Whereas they go to somewhere like Ford Field, bam every cent is going to the NFL in one way or another. Profit Margins = decisions

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2005 Is the J.P Losman experiment already over in Buffalo? I doubt it myself but I'd like additional opinions. This just comes across as the same thing the Chargers tried to do when they handed the team to Doug Flutie for half the season. Course I can't believe Losman only got four games. Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted October 8, 2005 Well, I thought about making this its own thread, but here's an interesting article on the shittiness of the NFC North and how it affects the rest of the league adversely. There's more at the link here: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-o...ov=ap&type=lgns But I highlighted the part I wanted to bring into discussion, or at least share with you guys: THE RIPPLE EFFECT The weakness of the NFC North could have an impact on playoff races in both conferences. Under the schedule formula, each division plays a division in each conference on a rotating basis. This year, NFC North teams play opponents from the NFC South and the AFC North. Thus, Tampa Bay (4-0) has beaten three NFC North teams and Cincinnati (4-0) has wins over the Bears and Vikings. Are they true contenders or are they simply decent teams beating up bad ones? That won't help the Bucs or Bengals in their division races. Atlanta, probably the best team in Tampa Bay's division, has four games left against NFC North teams. So does Pittsburgh, which probably is better than Cincinnati in the AFC North. Three of the Steelers' last four games are against Chicago, Minnesota and Detroit. But if Pittsburgh and Atlanta win their divisions, beating up the North could help the Bucs and Bengals secure wild-card playoff spots. Cincinnati, for example, could finish 11-5 or 10-6, taking a spot from an AFC West team that has to play the stronger NFC East. And Tampa Bay could beat out a team like the Giants or Redskins, a combined 6-1, because that East-West cross-conference matchup gives New York and Washington a tougher schedule than the Bucs. Obviously, injuries and other factors could make all that moot. And, in truth, the NFC West, which faces the NFC East in the rotating schedule, isn't much better than the North -- the Giants have beaten the Cardinals and Rams by a combined 43 points. Nor is this totally new. Imbalanced schedules in the past have resulted in screwy outcomes. In 1985, when only five teams from each conference made the playoffs, Cleveland won the AFC Central at 8-8, while Denver finished 11-5 and missed out. Dan Reeves, then the Denver coach, yelled a lot, then set out on a mission to win the division at all cost in 1986 ``because of what happened to us last year.'' Indeed the Broncos did, then beat the Browns in overtime in an epic AFC title game marked by the 98-yard game-tying drive that defined John Elway's career. So maybe injustice is a motivating factor. Just don't tell that a winning team that's watching in January while some loser from the NFC North competes in the playoffs. .... I remember the days when we used to call `em the NFC Least... Gert T 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2005 Tampa Bay & Cincinnati can only win the games that are in front of them. No apologies that the NFC North is shitty. Of course I may be a little biased towards the Bengals.

Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted October 9, 2005 I wouldn't be surprised. Arizona's offense runs much nicer under Josh McCown, no clue as to why he landed in Dennis Green's doghouse all of a sudden last year.
