Wow.

The 3-way was OK. Nothing spectacular --- and this will end up being the conventional wisdom before next show finishes. AMW v 3-D was BAD. It was every friggin' Duds match over the last 3 years. They --- as I expected --- are still shit in the ring.

The show was --- and I'll be generous as hell here --- really mediocre.

Then why do you keep watching?

The curse of optimism.

I could ask the same about you reading my posts, since they seem to cause you much more heartache than TNA putting on yet another piddling TV show causes me.

I've seen Impact on FSN and on Spike now. And on neither did they put on a show that is terribly compelling. They may have decent enough PPV shows, but when it comes to TV, they are quite mediocre.

It's like watching a movie on HBO,  and hating it, but everything it comes on you still watch it because you expect it to change your mind. If you go in thinking it's going to be a bad show guess what "IT GOING TO BE A BAD SHOW!!!

Nope. Shows can surprise you.

I'm not blind I know tonights show wasn't good, but for a TV match I felt the 3-way match was very good.

And, for a TV match, I felt it was OK at best.

If you look at next weeks preview show your probably not going to like it so I'll save you trouble of bashing it next week. YOUR WELCOME!!!

Well, no, it is not looking terribly good.

Unlike your whiny self, though, I EXPLAIN the problems YOU seem to feel will go away if only I wouldn't dare mention them.

Memo to TNA: Nobody has ever wanted to hear Zbyzsko speak. You won't change that.

Don't worry, if the show is good, I'll be happy to mention it. I just happen to have the perspective that, apparently, almost nobody else here has.

If WWE put on a show like that, people would shit all over it.

And rightly so.

I'm thinking that everything will start to be really good after Bound for Glory. After Nash loses to Jarrett, someone can step up to take Jarrett's title. I think most of the IWC would be happy with the belt on Brown or Raven, so they should choose one of them to feud with Jarrett and his stable for two months.

JJ isn't losing the belt that quickly. Who do you think he is? Every other former titleholder on the roster?

Some thoughts:

The Daniels, Aries, Bentley was highlight of the night. Though Daniels needs to lose the collar.

Nice to see Larry the Cable Guy (BG James) wrestling

The ads on the ring apron....tacky just my opinion

Nice to see the lovely Gail Kim

and one final thing, Jarrett doesn't show up at the end of every show, then again that's another strike at the dead horse.

This show was better than last weeks.

But I cannot believe that we're going to go at LEAST a whole month until we see Samoa Joe. He must be booked solid someplace else, because for crying out loud, I feel like he's WAY better than some of the stuff that we've got out there.

I actually like their format, it feels chock full of wrestling. This is compared to WWE where it seems like promos, arguments, and people walking in hallways can consume entire 10 minute periods.

The only problem is that they are trying to force five matches into an hour with commercial breaks.

If it were up to me, I'd lower the number of matches, or get two hours of TV.

Perhaps less matches would irritate people, but then they could be a LOT longer. If Impact is just to get people to buy the PPV's maybe less exposure wouldn't be so bad.

Joe's lsat week, and next month is insane with ROH, and international tours. Just this week he wrestled Kobashi twice, hopped on a 20 hour flight to Melbourne and wrestled 3 out of 4 nights there, before catching another 20 hour flight back. Not sure of his schedule for the next couple weeks, but I know it's packed.

I knew the non-finish was coming, but this match made me look forward to the inevitable PPv rematch.

I'd disagree with this to be honest. The non finish was inevitable but no Nash out there was inexcusable really (as much as i hate him, why didn't he get involved? and the Gail kim thing couldn't have been worse. I would have had no idea as I couldn't see her face, I barely even saw her low blow on Ray. She has no name value, really she doesn't, and I don't see that she adds anything to the shows or the storyline. I look forward to the inevitable PPV rematch, because I know what these teams can do. This match didn't make me do so in any way whatsoever though.

I don't think it has anything to do with Joe not being avaliable. He was at the first taping and just wrestled in a dark match.

Here is what I mean. Imagine for a moment you have never seen TNA and you decide to watch this show from last night. Here's the impression the show would make:

"Oh joy, more Canadian heels. Who are these Team Canada guys and why should I care?"

"Oh hell no, did I just see the Road Dogg doing his old act from 7 years ago? Is that friggin Konnan? This is just my DREAM team. The black dude seemed kinda cool, wasn't he on the WWF a long time ago?"

"Who are these 3 high flying guys? They seem pretty cool but I don't know them or what they're all about. Oh shit, that one guy is Shawn Michaels's cousin? Why hasn't Vince signed him as a favor?"

"These guys have Jeff Jarrett as the world champion? And Kevin Nash is his #1 contender? This is a joke....right?"

"Shane Douglas and Larry Zbyzsko are still alive?"

"This Abyss guy seems pretty cool in a Kane or Mankind sort of way, right down to his freaky manager."

Anyway, this Impact show is loads better than the FSN show I tried to watch a couple of times. That show was so forgettable and bland that I mostly forgot it was on. Their PPV coming up does sound like a strong card though, so I might give it a chance.

I thought it was a good show. One thing TNA has to be wary of is not trying to cram in as much stuff as possible because of their relatively short show time. Another thing is that most viewers are used to the Bad Guy/Good Guy format, and thus the X Division comes off as rather confusing. That's definetly going to lead a lot of viewers asking themselves "Well okay, these guys are fun to watch but who am I supposed to root for? That bald dude is kinda menacing, so he might be the bad guy, but wait he's going to wrestle three guys next week, so he's the good guy? And what about those other two, like the one with the weird entrance music?"

"Oh joy, more Canadian heels. Who are these Team Canada guys and why should I care?"

Why is that one guy named after steak sause? Does the manager think he is Rick Steiner.......whats up with the barking?

The black dude seemed kinda cool, wasn't he on the WWF a long time ago?"

He looks like a young Booker T but without the Breathe Right strips.

"Who are these 3 high flying guys? They seem pretty cool but I don't know them or what they're all about. Oh shit, that one guy is Shawn Michaels's cousin? Why hasn't Vince signed him as a favor?"

Hey at least its not a comedy match exposing the bidness in public if you will

"These guys have Jeff Jarrett as the world champion? And Kevin Nash is his #1 contender? This is a joke....right?"

Is this WCW?

"Shane Douglas and Larry Zbyzsko are still alive?

Ahhhh yes the game of chess.....

"This Abyss guy seems pretty cool in a Kane or Mankind sort of way, right down to his freaky manager."

Make him champion now

Anyway, this Impact show is loads better than the FSN show I tried to watch a couple of times.

FSN had too many jobber matches and pointless skits involving pickup trucks. TNA on Spike tv wants to be the next ECW really really bad.

Hopefully Joe is one of AJ's three picks, if his schedule allows it.

That was my first thought when that promo aired. I think AJ's guys will be Sonjay (if he's back), Skipper (so they can play up how well they know each other) and then Joe, who will promptly decimate Daniels. That way Daniels is protected by having gone through 2 guys and Joe is put over by being awesome.

tna is good for what it is. 1 hour of mindless wrestling to satisfy my inner wrestling fanboyism. it has exciting moves & wrestlers i've never seen before. i don't understand the ferver & passion it is enciting with many of you. didn't all of you want this? now its on & you complain. i don't get it. take the alternative for what it is. some people just WANT to be unhappy. As long as we get a quality match like the three-way every week, I'm watching. I agree a bit with CC that Abyss looks like a bigger Mankind, with a little Kane mixed in, though he moves well in the ring and the fans are definitely behind him.

The main event scene, on the other hand, sucks.

I think TNA should use this first month of shows just as an exhibition to newer fans, showing them what they're all about. After BFG, then they can slow down and start building angles since they will have built a regular audience by then.

I know TNA isn't topping WWE anytime soon, but they are definitely the breath of fresh air I needed.

EDIT: Question -- What were the fans singing during the Team Canada match? It sounded like the Canadian anthem a bit, but in a mocking fashion.

yeah - twas an ok show.

Felt the 3LK match was just a showcase for Killings until the end, and I thought that he came off pretty well. But are we really going to have to go through the NAO's are-they-reforming...? act all over again? That angle was joyless the first time round.

The 3-Way was ok, I too thought that last week's was pretty disappointing, I'm not a big fan of Bentley but Aries came off pretty well really. Wouldn't mind seeing him mix it up in the title picture at some point, reckon he could go well with any of the current top 3 guys, AJ, Daniels or Joe.

I don't like how the commentary team no-sells the crowd, as has already been mentioned - they didn't pick up on the Aries / Angel chants, but more annoying for me was when the crowd were clearly screaming for the Black Hole Slam before West, without any acknowledgement of the chants blathered "BLACK HOLE SLAAAAM!" like a div. Are they going to be completely ignorant to the crowd if Hoyt ever makes an appearance?

Don't much care for the ME guys, and the Tito / Jarrett / Nash segment reminded me why - it was just painful to watch. They were trying to put Ortiz over as able to control them, but there was an awkward wait while Jarrett put a few boots into the choked-out Nash. He should have been on Jarrett's back immediately. Reckon it would have looked a lot better with both competitors laid out and Ortiz standing over them.

Also not a fan of the Dudleys or AMW, but their match wasn't bad - kinda bland same ol' same ol', I know - just that the beatdown and pictures of the bloodied, fallen heroes was more effective than a lot of the WWE shite have thrown us with those tiresome Evolution ambushes over the past couple of years.

But yeah, I reckon that they're doing alright considering the 1hr including ads that they have to squeeze everything into.

I have a feeling that the 3 Live Kru is going to disband soon, with BG James and Kip James becoming a tag team again. TNA probably figures that a lot of the marks would tune in if the New Age Outlaws (with a different name, obviously) were on the show. If this does happen, I hope the team does something new instead of their old act.

Konnan is pretty much done as a wrestler. "Who throws a shoe, honestly? You fight like a woman!" He should get a staff position instead. He can bring in the stars from Mexico.

Killings is the real star of the group and should be in the main event scene when it breaks up.

I recognize that music Ortiz came out too. Who used to use that?

That used to be the music used by all the jobbers on FSN :)

I won`t comment much on the show. I`ll just say that I enjoyed it and thought it had more focus and direction that last week`s show. That`s about it as I`m happy with TNA`s direction.

Did the New Age Outlaws ever face the Dudleys in the WWE?

No Way Out 2000.

Dudleyz won in a quick match to win the Tag Titles (I belive Gunn was injuried as well).

Got injured at the SD tapings before the NWO show --- so they spared us what would have likely been a lackluster match and gave us a Duds beatdown of the NAO for the gold.

They might as well team up BG and Kip James up again. They're not going to draw individually and it'll free up Killings to do something better. Besides, fans would probably pay to see them face Team 3D.

HOWEVER, wouldn't that feed into the overwhelming preconception about TNA?

Namely, that they will use former WWE gimmicks far more often than they will use their own originals?

TNA has teased a reunion --- but never really explained WHY they'd team up, outside of "Well, the WWE teamed them up (also, mind you, for no real reason)"

In ring, this was better than last week but presentation and promo wise, this episode seemed a step down. Also, as cool as the Samoa Joe promo was, I didn't understand why they used it in the context of this show. It should have been saved for moments before his Spike TV debut.

I also don't know why Daniels, Rhino, Monty and Bentley are being showcased in a second show next week when Joe, The Naturals and Raven have yet to be introduced to their new audience properly.

While using former WWE midcarders as a "bigger act" (so to speak) in TNA makes them look bush-league, when it comes to the tag division I think it's a different story. The WWE currently doesn't have one. The most notable names in the tag division over the past 5 years has been Edge and Christian, the Hardy Boyz, the New Age Outlaws, and the Dudley Boyz. No other team really comes to my mind than those 4. So when one promotion has 2 of those teams, while the other promotion has none, there is something to build from. I wouldn't build my future on those two teams, but as a starting-block, it's at the very least a place to start from. In a battle for the tag division between TNA and the WWE, where TNA has NAO and the Duds while WWE has MnM and LOD, I'd say TNA has the advantage. And TNA needs all the advantages they can get. TNA has the better cruiserweight division. TNA has the better tag division. TNA could easily have the better womens division. Do these things matter when the WWE has the better heavyweight division? No, in the grand scheme of things they don't. But it doesn't hurt.

Honestly, I don't think TNA has a better tag division. They just actually use what they have. The WWE has some good teams (MNM v Mexicools would be some fun matches, and the never-ending burial of the Heart Throbs is just baffling), but they don't want to use them. You'd think Eric Bischoff was in charge of creative.

I don't think TNA has a talent edge in any division. They, unlike the WWE, are smart enough to actually USE what they have.

I think Joe's debut will be next week during the Daniels deal...since it will be a surprise, it's good that they showed his intro video this week. I'm with you on The Naturals and Raven though.

Could BG and Kip James get away with calling themselves "The Outlaws," or would that be a lawsuit waiting to happen? It seems like they'd be able to, seeing as how they got away with calling Kip "The Outlaw" for a time.

Well, there's a reason The Outlaw was changed to Kip James (hint: WWE)...TNA has already trademarked "The James Gang" so, if they ever go through with teaming them together, there's your team name.
