Rocky VI Officially Greenlit

Recommended Posts

It's Rocky training to fight in a match where he's the longshot. It's the exact same as the other movies. (Well except V) This isn't a new book

I found it wrong when the people in the theater I was in popped more for the Rocky trailer, than the actual movie (POTC DMC).

Awesome that people are getting excited! From what I've seen people are getting super pumped for this movie. Like I said before for a lot of people this is bigger and more meaningful than even the initial Star Wars comeback.

People ask what life is all about. Well, it can be summed up in one word. Rocky.

I can't wait. I haven't been to a theatre since Rush Hour 2 but this will definitely break that streak.

Do you know what you're talking about?

A lot of people bought tickets for Meet Joe Black just to see the Episode I trailer. Many of those people left after seeing the trailer. I don't see many people doing that for Rocky.

People waited in line for several days just to get tickets for the midnight showing of Episode I. A lot of those people skipped work just to wait in line. Do you see that happening for Rocky Balboa?

Many people (mostly fanboys) watched several showings of Episode I on the same day. Again, do you see that happening with the new Rocky movie?

A lot of people (again, mostly fanboys) wore costumes to the movie. Do you think people will do that for Rocky?

I could go on, but I'll stop there.

I'm not talking about numbers here though I do predict that the high money numbers for Rocky will surprise even its biggest fans. I'm talking about people who love their respective movies. The love the hardcore Rocky fans have for their movies is pretty much unparalled by other hardcore fans of their movies. Rocky means more to them. It is a tale of inpiration that moves people.

Reading comprehension can go a long way. Read my post again, but this time, focus on what those people did, not how many.

You're looking at things as a biased Rocky fan. Have you met or seen any hardcore Star Wars fans? LOTR fans? Harry Potter fans?

Read my post again. It's not necessarily about the numbers, as you put it. It's about what people did.

Yes, and I completely stand by my statement.

Inspirational moving stories hit home harder than stories that use other factors to get over.

How does that back your statement that Rocky fans are more hardcore? Using your logic, Rudy fans or Hoop Dreams fans are more hardcore than Star Wars fans or LOTR fans.

Again, you're being way too biased in your views. I like the Rocky movies and I'm not a LOTR or Harry Potter fan, but I wouldn't say Rocky fans are more hardcore.

Don't argue with wp. I'm a huge Rocky fan and even I know he's talking out of his ass.

And yes, this one is simply called Rocky Balboa.

If this new Rocky movie makes any kind of money I'd be quite surprised. For one thing, it's a dead series and has been since 1990. Second, Stallone can't draw a single dime anymore. I don't think it's a very high budget film so if it makes a decent amount then it'll turn a profit, but I'm not expecting it to be some kind of mega blockbuster.

I don't think it'll be a blockbuster, but I think there a whole new generation of people who want to see Rocky. I've never seen a Rocky movie on the big screen and I can't be more excited for this.

It's perfect timing for the film too, being the 30th Anniversary of the first Rocky, and they're not treating Rocky like he hasn't aged, plus the fight in the film is strictly exhibition.

The crowd cheered and I'm looking forward to it.

I saw the trailer and, though the plot is idiotic ( "Me, the champion of the world, will go after a 60 year-old guy because a videogame says he can beat me, I'll kick his ass !") I will go see it in theatres. The first Rocky is one of my favorites movies ever and, though the series took a fall since Rocky III, I still enjoy it.

Anyway, it's more of a spinoff than a sixth chapter. To my knowledge, only three characters return, not counting Rocky's son. It will have just enough classic Rocky elements in it like the training scenes, the punching in meat and the running of the steps to be considered more of a Rocky than Rocky V. I think the finish will be either a lost or they will do just like Rocky I, where Stallone goes the distance when nobody said he would last. Of course, Hollywood being Hollywood, they will probably go for the happy ending where Stallone wins, but that would sucks.

EDIT : Even though Poor Dumb Rocky > Millionnaire Rocky, how come he still lives in the gutter after all these years ? You would figure he would have endorsement deals ( a grill anyone ? ) or some other thing since he was an household name.

I'm really not sure how I want the movie to end.

Definitely don't want Rocky to lose by knockout. If that happens I'm rioting in the theatre.

Losing by decision after the final round would be fine and a neat way to end the series.

A victory and a happy ending would be terrific.

A victory but than an ending that sees Rocky die would also be a great ending. Well, as great as ending with a death can be. It shows Rocky's more than human and with that comes an ever greater appreciation for all the effort he put into his fights.

It'll be interesting to see how good of a fight Rocky will have this time around. The previous fights are pretty much unmatched 5 star fights due to their excellent intensity, physcology and storytelling. Hopefully this fight will live up to all the other fights' reputations.

I'd have him lose by TKO in the 10th round or something...shows that he won't give up, but doesn't do the impossible and have him beat a guy in better shape, half his age.

Really lookin forward to this, but the plot makes no sense.

How does beating an over the hill old Rocky prove that you could beat him in his prime? It doesn't.

It doesn't probe you could beat him in his prime but Rocky is still Rocky. It means a lot if you beat him.

Have you ever spelled that word correctly? Psychology, not physcology.

You sound like a tool. Five star fights with intensity, psychology, and storytelling? They're movie scenes, not wrestling matches.

Rocky should lose in round three after getting a cut above his eye. A confused Rocky asks them why they stopped the fight and then they tell him about AIDS and blood diseases which means fights stop if one of the fighters is bleeding uncontrollably. Rocky gets pissed, punches the ref in the face and just storms the crowd punching everyone he can and yelling, "You want a piece of me! I am the law!"

Then go to credits as he punches the camera.
