qdes 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2005 So we're now having a serious discussion comparing Kennedy's charisma with that of the Rock? Unbelievable. I have officially lost all faith in this folder. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> More like comparing to Rocky Maivia. Cause that's how long Kennedy has been in the WWE. We haven't seen even the half of the potential Kennedy is capable of.
hyperchord24 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2005 I like Ken Kennedy. I think he's alright in the ring and plays an annoying heel better than most anyone on either roster. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> playing an annoying heel is something you did to get over in the '80s and early '90s. Today it's just boring. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Says who? You? Because as far as I can tell, the fans respond more to him than some of the people the smarks deem better. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> All I am saying is that the older types of annoying heels are too one-dementional. Whether he gets over or not is imaterial. Gimmicks like his are better left in the '80s. You really need to beat the crap out of a dominant face to get any sort of real heel heat (HHH, Brock, Eddie, Edge, Angle, ect.)

What is not subjective is whether or not he gets over. That is mesurable. "real heel heat" is not.

Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2005 Exactly. He hasn't had the chance to "beat the crap out of a face" yet. He's getting reactions from the crowds. He's a decent worker and has a unique gimmick. I don't see why he can't work, as long as they don't cut his feet out from under him right away, like they've done with a lot of guys the last couple years as they were getting over (Charlie Haas, Rico, Shelton Benjamin, just to name a few). Guest Korgath Report post Posted October 17, 2005 What do you find so amusing about him repeating his name twice? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Obviously the gimmick has gone way over your head. The guy's name IS Mr. Kennedy Kennedy. What do you think "Ken" is short for? I foresee great things for Kennedy. He will get a program with Eddie/Rey in due time. hyperchord24 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2005 Ken is short for Kenneth, duuuuhh! [/sarcasm] Eddie and Rey? I wouldn't think there's a logical reason to place him there.
Guest Mr. FoosBrawl Report post Posted October 17, 2005 Mr. Kennedy is one of the few people who truly make WWE entertaining! He's great on the mic! He's funny. He can wrestle. He leaves me wondering what he will do next. I want to see him grow as a wrestler. He makes me care! That's important! He and Bobby Lashley are two reasons why I tape Smackdown just to see what they did. Lashely is simply a physical monster, but that is another discussion. I think its just a boxing announcer gimmick where he repetes the last word twice.

UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2005 Jericho played an annoying heel in 1998 and it was like one of WCW's best characters ever. Not that I've ever felt unwelcome here, and I haven't really even posted enough to render myself anything more than a newbie (despite being a member for over a year)... but.. valid point. I guess it really comes down to wanting them to push older talent that's been missused instead of younger, unprooven talent with "loads of potential." I think that has a lot to do with the arguments about Mr. Kennedy.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2005 Who cares what others think? Cheer who you like. If enough people like a certain person, it'll stick. If you don't like Kennedy and he keeps getting pushed, boo him (storyline-wise, mark-ish) or turn off the TV (ignore the product).

Guest Fishyswa Report post Posted October 17, 2005 Annoying heels get over when they own the stick or have a moveset. Matt Hardy V1 had the best moveset in the WWE after he went from Heat to SD, Jericho could hold his own with smarmy faces. Right now Kennedy kind of has both going for him, with a great credible finisher and talent on the stick. It's not too suprising that he's as over as he is with most of the IWC.
