Kismet 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2005 Wings speed issues get exposed again as they lose to the Oilers 6-5 in overtime. Maltby decides to be a dumb ass and run over the goalie Markkanen with about 15 seconds or so left. So a half a minute into overtime on a powerplay they score. Wings 0-3 on the Western Canada road trip, and reality slaps them in the face. They are still a good team, but nothing more for now.

Red Baron 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2005 Habs lost to the Devils (like always). Very chippy affair as I can see this going to get worse as the season progress. You can tell Montreal needs some good PKers out there, because the loss of Jason Ward, Jim Dowd and Andreas Dackell can be proven out there.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2005 The media in Toronto keeps talking about how Allison is bitching about his ice time and the Leafs are considering trading him b/c of his cap number.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2005 I would, and for Toronto sake get a defenceman. I wonder what Max and niskie would think about this trade. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=143598&hubname= David Tanabe from Phoenix for Dave Scatchard of Boston. KGB 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2005 The media in Toronto keeps talking about how Allison is bitching about his ice time and the Leafs are considering trading him b/c of his cap number. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The TO media is full of shit, trying to create a story where there is none. All we know is Allison asked for more icetime because he felt he needed it, Quinn didn't agree and one of the media guys comes up with an "unnamed source" saying he went to the GM about it and generally painting him as a selfish headcase, among other things. The guy is struggling so bad that he's 2nd on the team in points, but he's a slow skater and not going to score 50 goals. Fuck the media and the worthless fans that buy into their BS. Always trying to start a shitstorm. Sorry, but I get pissed off thinking about it. Definitely not opposed to trading him though. The solid play from our trifecta of young forwards (Steen, Stajan and Wellwood) makes it possible to not be hurt from trading him, but to be helped by filling a need somewhere else (defence, anyone?). Plus, Scatchard's been playing well for the B's lately. Having said that, though, Tanabe is instantly their second best healthy D-man (behind only Boynton) and there was no way the B's would dig themselves out of this hole with so many rookies on the blue line. Best of all, they saved some $$, which will give them a bit of leverage to pick up another player to help them out. Maybe, but you're still stuck with Harry Sinden. Sinden never gave $4 million contracts to people like Zhamnov. That guy is the worst signing the B's have had since Coffey ... and at least Coffey was injured and retired about a month into his tenure. We're stuck with Zhamnov for a while. Tanabe isn't that great defensively, but he's a warm, healthy body to have on the backend. Not a superb defensive defenseman, but...take what they can get. CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2005 I attended what was probably the most boring hockey game I've ever been at tonight. Even in today's NHL, the Devils can lure a crowd right to sleep. The Sens made it out with a win despite the refs trying their damndest to hand the game to the Devils on a platter in the third. CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2005 Vancouver over Anaheim 3-2, and the Ducks drop their eighth straight away from The Pond. I was calling them as a darkhorse, too. Of course, Fedorov being gone kinda signals the beginning of the end. Nonetheless, Burke's a freakin genius, he'll fix things up sooner or later.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2005 I don't think the Ducks are going to the playoffs this year, but definitly in the 06-07 season after some good drafts and development for next year, and being able to use that 4.2 million from Federovs departure. nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2005 Update: The Bruins still suck. The way the Rangers were just smacking them around the ice in the third and the Bruins not hitting back was just pathetic. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It was really just that one line (the "HMO Line") that seemingly takes 30 second shifts consisting of nothing but skating into people. I didn't see them doing much with the puck (such as, I dunno, carrying it or passing it or trying to gain possession of it) ... their entire mission is just to hit people and energize the crowd. At that point in the game, it was more important that the B's try to score a goal or two, rather than worry about who's winning on the hits chart. Of course, the B's lost on both the scoreboard and the fictitious hits chart, so yeah, the B's still suck.

Moore and Ortmyer are both awesome at killing penalties and blocking shots. Without them, the Rangers would have no chance at being where they are in the standings. Unless you were kidding when you said that, I completely disagree. A resurgent Jagr and some surprisingly good goaltending is why the Rangers are where they are. Not energy players. Guest Report post Posted November 21, 2005 Something funny I heard today from a friend. I'll copy and paste. It seems Mr. Sean Avery got a bit too mouthy during girlfriend Rachael Hunter's son's Pee Wee A game Sunday. Enough so that the referee threw him out of the building. Sean wasn't even on the bench ... just a spectator behind the glass. He then got an earful from Rachael for causing a scene and embarrassing her. He needs to chill.
