The McRib Farewell Tour

Recommended Posts

So I'm driving down the road yesterday and I hear an ad for the McRib farewell tour. It seems that McDonalds' marketing team has taken its cues from The Simpsons. Anyone who loves this little treat of formed ground pork should head over to www.mcrib.com and sign the petition to keep the sandwich around. Below is the press release on the promotion.

The Customer Favorite Scheduled for Limited Engagements

                          Across the United States

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Oct. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- The McRib Farewell Tour,

celebrating the McDonald's McRib Sandwich, is making its way across the

country.  Beginning today, McDonald's restaurants throughout the United States

will give customers their last chance to experience the sizzling boneless pork

rib patty topped with pickles, onions and tangy BBQ sauce on a special McRib

bun.  Select cities in California, Kansas, Missouri, North Carolina, New

Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia

are hosting the McRib Farewell Tour.  For a complete list of tour stops visit

http://www.mcrib.com.

The farewell announcement comes as a surprise to customers who have come

to love and expect the recurring availability of the McRib at their local

McDonald's restaurant.  "Our customers will have the last chance to experience

the savory taste of the McRib Sandwich and pay tribute to a part of McDonald's

50-year history," stated McDonald's spokesperson, Jennifer Smith.  The McRib

was first introduced at McDonald's Restaurants in 1982 as a promotional menu

item and contributes to the 250,000,000 pounds of pork meat purchased by

McDonald's each year.  The McRib Sandwich is scheduled for deletion from the

McDonald's menu at the end of the McRib Farewell Tour.  "Ultimately it is our

customers who determine what is on our menu. We have such a variety of

options. We look forward to hearing what our customers think," added Smith.

The McRib Farewell Tour '05 website is available at http://www.mcrib.com for

customers who would like to get more information about the McRib Farewell

Tour, including:  locations of McRib Farewell Tour stops, McRib Sandwich and

pork trivia, and a place to sign a petition to keep the McRib Sandwich on the

McDonald's menu.  Petitions may also be available at area McDonald's

restaurants.

McDonald's USA, LLC, is the leading food service provided in the United

States serving a variety of wholesome foods made from quality ingredients to

millions of customers every day. More than 80 percent of McDonald's 13,700

U.S. restaurants are independently owned and operated by local franchisees.

I had my first one ever the other night, it wasn't so bad. I got it with no onions and pickles, put some fries on it (although I hate MCD's fries) and it was pretty good, prolly could have used a little less bbq sauce though.

Certainly better than most of their food.

EDIT: HAHAHAAH If you go to the website there's a link to this

http://www.bonelesspigs.org/

It's hilarious, obviously a huge joke site. Really funny shit, prolly gonna offend someone.

The "McRib" and the "Big and Tasty" have both given me some painful diahrea in the past. To hell with both of them.

You don't need McDonalds to make a "McRib" though. Just buy some Banquet (or other brand) Rib patties, heat them in the microwave with BBQ sauce and then throw them on a hamburger bun.

I love the McRibs and all, but what a fucking stupid marketing campaign. Who's bright idea is it to portray McDonald's food as "the cool thing" or whatever the fuck that mess on that website is? This goes to all of their stupid commericals I see on TV from McDonalds nowadays too.

I cant believe they actually have a "gallery" of pictures of the McRibs.

6 packs of just the rib-like things themselves are sold for like $1.49 here, slap on some BBQ sauce and throw it on a bun.

Here in Texas (maybe different in other regions), I saw a TV ad last night and all it said was that the McRib was back. Nothing about a farewell tour.

Edit: Okay, today I heard the end of the radio ad.

The only thing that offends me is that people actually eat this ground up pork shit. Give me prime rib any day.

And a tasty cut of beef relates to a pork sandwich made up to look like a rib-type piece of meat how?

Who hasnt taken leftover ribs and made a sandwich out of em?

My mother used to feed me the fake rib patty things a lot when I was a kid (probably one of the myriad of reasons why I hate her now, but anyway) and I used to like them, but theres no substitute for the real thing.

Hear, hear! And ribs do not taste better the day after. There is a prime time frame to eat ribs, and it is long before the next day.

Leftover ribs?

Does not compute.

Ive cooked several pounds of ribs just for myself and had plenty left over before.

Plus, they taste better the day or two after.

YOU LET RIBS GO UNEATEN FOR TWO DAYS! WHAT SORT OF INHUMANE BASTARD ARE YOU?

The only McDonalds menu item that I want to see brought back is their pizza.

I'm from Moncton originally, and there the pizza never left. Admittedly it was nice to occasionally get a cheap pizza, but I'd rather just stock up on Microwavables and skip the gas waste, heh.
