KingPK 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2005 Spike has officially announced its second TNA prime time special for 12/8 at 10 p.m. and its third on New Year's Eve. The plan is Unleashed from 7-8 pm., Impact from 8-9 p.m. followed by the UFC Best of 2005 show from 9 p.m. to midnight and TNA again from midnight to 12:30 a.m. The deal is they are going to shoot a big angle in the first hour to lead to a match three hours later after UFC, to be billed as the first pro wrestling match of 2006 Damn, that New Year's Eve lineup sounds swank. What do you think would be the first match of '06?

Magus 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2005 More likely he'll go for the first in-ring skit of 2006. Personally, I say build towards Raven/Jarrett III as the big "2006 match"
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2005 Spike TV is better at booking than TNA is. That's friggin brilliant.

Personally, I say build towards Raven/Jarrett III as the big "2006 match" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That'd be a waste of an easy money match. I'd wager to predict something along the lines of Jarrett Vs Sabu or something. Also, It's amazing seeing SpikeTV push TNA so hard. They never did anything with WWE and this shows they really care about TNA. I wonder if it's because A). They want to stick it to Vince and make TNA a legit contender B). Claim they don't need WWE for ratings C). Actually like the TNA product. I'll say D). All the above.
naiwf 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2005 I'm guessing AJ vs Daniels and/or Joe for the X Division Title. Why promote it and then make it something shitty by putting Jarrett in it? Do we really need 18 run ins and weapon shots in the first match of the new year?
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2005 The debate of what the match should be will be an interesting one. I'll throw my vote in for Styles vs. Joe with Joe winning the X title. But I will say that Brown beating Jarrett for the NWA title would make me happy.
dubq 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2005 That's great news. I'm so proud of SpikeTV for having the balls to get right up behind TNA like this. Good shit!
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2005 Spike wants to get behind TNA because it gets all the ad revenue for Impact. Beating WWE is probrably also on their minds, but money is and should be the driving force here.
HandofFate 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2005 As soon as I thought of who would be in the first match of 2006, I was thinking AJ vs Joe for the title and Joe winning it. It would set up 2006 as the Year of Joe. It'll be the opening chapter of the book. I'm really thinking that 2006 will be Joe's national breakout year. Slickster 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2005 But it won't be the first match of 2006 if it's a TAPED special.
Guest *KNK* Report post Posted November 3, 2005 But it won't be the first match of 2006 if it's a TAPED special. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Doesn't really matter in the eyes of most people. I'm shocked ROH didn't capitalize on New Year's being a Saturday night and have a special Saturday night show, If they could draw 650 for Final Battle 2005 the day after xmas (a very busy travel day), Im sure they could draw a good crowd for a ROH New Year's show, since they already have post-show parties with the fans and workers, It wouldn't bother alot of the fans to spend a saturday night @ a good wrestling show and celebrating the night with the likes of Samoa Joe, who is a great party guy. B2T, I don't like the idea of blowing a money match like Monty/Raven Vs Jarrett for the title with a change or Joe/Styles title change. Save those for PPV or another "supercard" like tonight's show. This "huge" match could just mean a crazy 10 man tag match with Jarrett/AMW/Abyss/Whoever Vs Rhino/3D/Raven/Hardy. "Huge" as in alot of "stars" in one match, that's the interpretation I'm getting. Coolclint 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2005 I just want to say I'd dig a Jarrett/AMW/Abyss/Roode vs. Raven/3D/Truth/Hardy tag to kick off 2006.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2005 But it won't be the first match of 2006 if it's a TAPED special. They meant it will be the first televised wrestling match of '06. I think it's going to be some sort of multiple person match, perhaps the Spike debut of Six Sides of Steel. I would think TNA wants to save the first AJ/Joe match for a PPV. They shouldn't give anything special away for something that won't get by most of it's usual fanbase anyways. I want to know if the 12/24 show, on X-Mas eve will be a "Best of" show or will they take this chance and go "unlike WWE, we dont take a night off because it's a holiday" direction.
