Albert Pujols wins NL MVP

Recommended Posts

Not a bad choice. I personally thought Derrick Lee had the most impressive numbers, but he was never going to get the support needed because of how horrible the Cubs were this year.

Just think, had Bonds not been around, we could conceviably be calling this Pujols 5th consecutive MVP award. Chew on that for a moment.

Jones came pretty close. Lee only got one 1stt place vote and even more surprising only one 2nd place vote.

2. Andruw Jones (13) 351

3. Derrek Lee (1) 263

4. Morgan Ensberg 160

5. Miguel Cabrera 146

6. Carlos Delgado 84

7. Pat Burrell 65

8. Chris Carpenter 52

9. Brian Giles 48

10. Jimmy Rollins 45

11. Dontrelle Willis 42

12. Jason Bay 41

13. Chase Utley 22

14t. Lance Berkman 21

14t. Bobby Abreu 21

14t. Chad Cordero 21

17t. Trevor Hoffman 19

17t. Carlos Lee 19

19t. Jeff Kent 18

19t. David Wright 18

21. David Eckstein 15

22. Roger Clemens 8

23. Roy Oswalt 6

24t. Ken Griffey Jr 5

24t. Andy Pettite 5

26t. Jim Edmonds 3

26t. Cliff Floyd 3

26t. Marcus Giles 3

30t. Scott Eyre 1

30t. Brad Lidge 1

30t. Jose Reyes 1

Scott Eyre and Jose Reyes get 10th place votes. Wow.

Surprised the writers finally picked the right option, this time. :P

Also, voting for 10 people seems like a bit much. It's silly to see a middle reliever scrub like Eyre on this list...

It's a good system because it prevents the same kind of screwy results the gold glove award voting provides. It prevents a third candidate from slipping in just because the top two might have come from the same market.

I know the Braves got the playoffs and the Cubs didn't, but Jones in second is bullshit. You take out Lee and the Cubs are probably looking up at the Reds. But nope, it's all about "OMG LOOK AT ALL THOSE HOMERS JONES HAS!" We'll ignore that the Braves were utter shit prior to the rookies coming into the picture.

The real problem I have with D. Lee in third is that it's such a distant third. The fact that he got only ONE first place vote and ONE second place vote is absurd.

I find it more absurd that every single voter gave Jones either a first or second place vote.

Must have missed the Andruw Jones blow-job fest on ATH.
