Krankor 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2005 Minnesota might as well get rid of KG. They aren't going anywhere this season. That team is terrible. If New York does actually pull of the trade they might as well try and throw James Jones in the deal. He's a wasteland and they already have Curry/A.D./Frye to play Center. Right now I don't think New York has a chance to make the playoffs. Charlotte and Atlanta are more dangerous than they are. With KG they are almost automatically a 4 or 5 seed as long as they actually try to use the players they have on the team. I'm really surprised that other teams don't try and get into the auction of KG. There has to be other teams that can offer Minnesota better players than broken down Penny Hardaway and third string power forward Mo Taylor.

They'd probably give up Ariza or Nate Robinson, and whatever future picks they have left too, or if they'd want Q-Rich or something too. Basically, there's no point in trading KG, unless you're going to save a lot of money, because KG is already arguably the best player in the NBA, and replacing him with another star will keep the Wolves in the same situation, with a player with less ability than KG, and still over the cap. If they make a KG/Wally for AD/Penny/Ariza trade, or something like that, they'll be 26 million under the cap at the end of this season.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2005 But who the hell would want to sign with Minnesota? And how much is KG actually making per year? Whatever big name FA they target would probably command close to as much. Minnesota's biggest problem is the dumb salaries they've given to the guys around KG, like Wally, Olowokandi, Troy Hudson and now Marko Jaric
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2005 KG is going to be making 21, 22, 23 or so in the next few years. He's making like 18 million this year. The Knicks can help them out by taking that contract, and Wallys, and even possibly Hudson's, and/or Hassell's.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2005 Damn. I knew he was one of the last big guys on a deal from prior to the newest CBA, but I didn't realize it was that much. I was thinking it was like 15-18 mil a year, 20+ is just insane, even for someone as talented as him. As proven, you can't win when you spend almost half the cap on one dude. The Knicks are so far over the cap that it doesn't matter. New Celtics uniforms debuting tonight
Krankor 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2005 I'm confused why Penny Hardaway is making 12 million a year. Just unloading that dead weight would put the Knicks in a better situation. I really don't see a big time free agent wanting to go to Minnesota. The green and black Celtics jerseys aren't terrible. It's something new to look at. Is that an alternate road jersey or the official road jersey now?
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2005 Alternate road jersey. I think Boston may have been the last hold out on having them. Penny is still on the big contract he signed with Phoenix, before he started breaking down with all the injuries. The Knicks had to take him to get Marbury. alfdogg 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2005 No idea. Everytime we win a huge game (the Heat at the start of the season, and the Cavs last night), we seem to follow it with a horrible loss, this one and the one to Philly (who *is* an underrated team, though I still don't think they're on our level). I did notice Artest didn't play due to a wrist injury, so that certainly plays into it. And finally, I pray to God (or Larry Bird, but really, is there any difference?) that the Pacers don't match any offer for Fred Jones, and just let him walk. He is useless. Everytime I've watched the Suns and seen James Jones knock down his open threes fairly consistently, I cry a little inside since Fred Jones can't seem to do the same and we could have just as easily traded him for that draft pick. mike546 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2005 The rookies come up big again as the Knicks win. Frye goes for 21 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists. And Nate Robinson has the best game of his career, 17 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, and the buzzer beating 3 pointer to win the game in overtime.

I really don't see a big time free agent wanting to go to Minnesota. They'll go where the money is. Minnesota can win the Northwest. Given they have alot of new players, and new coach. 7-5 isn't a bad start to the season. Denver's the best team, but you never know what you'll get from a George Karl coached team. The Electrifyer 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2005 Bulls pull out a win on there second of a Texas back-to-back. Houston came close, but they are just really bad without McGrady. The Electrifyer 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2005 Yeah man, so far there isn't even a team under .500. It reminds me of 2003 where one of the division in the West was so strong, that it's worst team (I think Utah) had a record better than the best team in one of the divisions on the East's for most of the year.
