Thoth 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2007 So the big feature in the Fall Update (if it's not DivX support)... is Virtual Console. Halo, Crimson Skies, Indigo Prophecy, and others, for $15 a pop. Apathetic much? Maybe some are more excited than me.
Obi Chris Kenobi 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2007 DivX support would unreal - isn't PS3 getting a firmware update to support DivX soon? The Fall update will probably bring about the wrath of the banhammer onto those people with modified Xboxs, if anything else.
Thoth 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2007 The PS3 actually, technically, as of firmware 2.0, supports DivX. Just not DivX playback. There are tools for developers to use DivX in their games. DivX playback IS coming soon, though.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2007 While I own Crimson Skies and Halo already on disc, it's a neat feature to have available, and it's nice for the folks who have the larger hard drives. More importantly, though, does this mean online multiplayer incorporated in some fashion? Here's hoping for more good xbox1 games to be added to the BC list. Big McLargeHuge 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2007 Damn. Tried MVP '05 and it isn't working. The 360 says it isn't supported. The earlier two versions are, though, which is weird.
Ced 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2007 The newest Avatar game has an achievement where you simply have to link a 50 hit combo to get all 1000 gamerscore points the game has to offer. My friend padded her stats by unlocking the achievements literally in two minutes of playing time. Now that I'm finally in the current gen, I'm probably gonna pick up Oblivion over the holidays to tide me over during the winter break.

Obi Chris Kenobi 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2007 Winter/Fall Update soon - 4th Decemeber I think, then Halo3 Maps just after 11th December, goodness all round. If Xbox gets Divx/Xvid playback from 'mixed content disks' then I'll be REALLY happy with Microsoft this Christmas
Thoth 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2007 DivX/Xvid support is confirmed. There's technical info here, but you'll notice it doesn't say anything about Mixed Content Discs. Even so, judging from the pattern of where .avi's are supported, it's a good bet those discs are supported.

Thoth 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2007 Oh, I already did the porn on the 360 thing thanks to TVersity. But I'm happy to dump TVersity, as I have to restart the service every time I want to use it. Plus, converted videos can't be fast forwarded, etc. Having native support is way better. Though not all DivX and Xvid will play, hit the technical link for details.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2007 Indiana Jones was a good fun game. I say go for it. After playing Buffy and suffering through the gawdawful platforming late in the game (as well as replaying large chunks of game because of it), I'm hesitant. It makes Castlevania 64 look like Mario 64. Seriously though, Batman; Rise of Sin Tzu and Nightcaster? Who thought that would be a good idea. The games themselves or making them BC? Scroby 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2007 Downloaded the new update already. Marketplace kind of got re-arranged again. Being able to find things is a bit easier I think. Guest huss Report post Posted December 4, 2007 The "Mixed Content Disc" I burned earlier, worked perfectly. I filled a DVD with Man Up, the 12/2 NOAH show and the Dragon Gate farewell to Matt Sydal show. What I was doing before was converting the files to a burnable DVD format. That way I wouldn't have to watch everything on the laptop, but it would take around 2 hours to convert and burn. This is a huge time saver and the quality is improved. The Dragon Gate TV rip was slightly less pixelated compared to my previous watching techniques. But just one match into the 12/2 NOAH show and it looks like an HD rip. I might have to just start watching everything I download this way.

Thoth 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2007 I get an error, when trying to watch my Lucky Star episodes, that an update is required, and I get sent to the place where you update the AAC support for iPod... which I've already downloaded. I didn't try to see deeper in what the problem was, but did anyone else get this weird error? Most likely, the video is not supported, and the Xbox is just confused, but I'm looking into it. Edit: Apparently, I may need to download the update again. Will update with results.
